    ► Hello everyone and nice to see you back. In this video today, we are going to see rare historical portraits, brought to life by mind blowing colorizations and facial animations using AI stuff. We never cease to get fascinated by old black and white photos in our history, that seem to portray a world so distant to us today. But with new technology and artistic skills of few individuals, this gloomy world has been brought to us much closer and pretty much alive again, by adding colors to it, in most spectacular of ways. In addition to this, I have added a subtle facial animations using Artificial Intelligence algorithms, that is going to blow you away.
    Please check the video to see old historical photos coming back to life with colorization and AI technology.

    Phenomenal work!! This is somehow unrelated but I'm a Native American, and I'm lucky enough I have recovered many old photographs of my ancestors, as well as some of the archaic maps of what was once extended Indian territory.
    I have found unseen photographs of my ancestors and tribe that are over 150 years old, and date back to the 1860's.
    I honestly really wish people would care more about their ancestral roots, as I feel only by learning from the past that we'll be able to make a better future.
    Historical documents and photographs are priceless gifts to the world. Take care with them, as you would with precious gems. I have had other people judge me for keeping these items very safe, but the diaries, artifacts and photographs are a sacred part of my family legacy.
    I hope more people will take the time to learn more about their heritage and how it has shaped who they are today.

      I agree with you wholeheartedly, and it may interest you that I plan to write a comprehensive family history, to give to my adult children, with facts and figures, but also family stories and incidents, so they don't forget where they came from. I'm 71 and my grandchildren are growing up fast in a world which has become increasingly alien to me.
      I had a DNA analysis done two years ago and was delighted with ancient Basque, Scandinavian/Portugese and Tuareg roots, quite a mix! but the first 500+ years are Celtic and British - suits me fine. Pure Mongrel!
      You sound like a very wise young person and I hope you hold on tight to your roots and share the knowledge of your history with your loved ones. Good luck to you. 🇺🇸🇬🇧

    I can’t begin to tell you how absolutely breathtaking these photos are. The way you breathe life into them is as if you have raised them from the dead. The photo of Czar Nickolas and his family was stunning, given the knowledge of their demise. It really makes you think twice about old photos and really opens the door to a wide world of opportunities to recapture our past. It would be really great to have these photos on the wall in their living breathing appearance and maybe that might be the future of still photography. I know that on my iPhone I can take live shots where you press the photo and it comes to life. It would really be great to have large portraits that never grew old and always felt like they were still with you, even after they have grown old and passed on. I do have some Live Photo’s of my mom who has passed away and they mean the world to me to see and hear her once again. Great work you’re doing I could look at these all day.

      The Tsars British cousin King George V made a tragic error in not immediately making arrangements to get the Tsar and his family out of Russia ASAP. By the time he did it was too late. A decision that he regretted for the rest of his life. Political interference in another country is ALWAYS a risky business and not simple. Many countries have/are in the terrible dilemma of HOW or IF to risk rescuing their own(whether by family ties or citizenship) from another country. That's why pleading for the release of Political Prisoners (which what the Tsar and family were) is so terribly difficult. A heinous crime that Russia deeply regrets, hence the retrieval and honourable interment of the family in recent years. 💔

      Rumor had it that Mona Lisa might not have been a she.

    • @Erizedd
      @Erizedd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Indeed, rumor has it that Mona Lisa was a combination of Leonardo Da Vinci's face and the face of and his (male) apprentice Salai (Gian Giacomo Caprotti). Salai was also the model used for Leonardo's famous painting of John the Baptist and Bacchus (who shared Salai's decadent personality), among a good many others, and was documented to be very beautiful. Following that theory, the title 'Mona Lisa' is an anagram of "Mon Salai" (My Salai). Leonardo was pretty smitten with Salai (despite his behavior), and they were thought to have been lovers.
      Leonardo was also really bad with deadlines for his paintings, as he had so many interests and hated being compelled to paint some figure he has very little interest in (he mostly did it just so he could fund the rest of his interests, and live). The woman that the painting was originally said to have been commissioned for - Lisa del Giocondo - never received it, and never paid for it. She likely gave up on it, as Leonardo finished the final version of the painting (the one we know now as Mona Lisa - there is upwards of 12 prior versions of it, done by he and his apprentices) about 12 years after the original commission, and even took it with him to France when he moved there.
      But who knows? I guess the truth of Mona Lisa's famous smile will always remain a mystery, unless some new information is discovered.

    I'm brought to tears by your beautiful work. What I wouldn't give to see my grandmother and grandfather as newlyweds in this way. They have been gone for decades, but my photo of them is so precious. I knew them, of course, as middle aged to old and infirm, but there is something in their eyes and subtle smiles that still haunts me today. Thank you for giving me such joy.

  • @isaacostlund
    @isaacostlund 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Breathtaking. I honestly gasped a few times as they came alive. Like phantoms of the past echoing again now. Stunning.
    I think the AI animation is making them move a bit too much, it seems a bit jerky sometimes. Maybe if it was slower up and down, like they were breathing in and out it would capture the same "movement" feel, to show them "alive," but not seem weirdly repetitive. I dunno.
    fantastic whatever the case, excited to see where this goes

    • @kenwittlief255
      @kenwittlief255 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. This animation and 3D rendering effect throws the photos right into the uncanny valley...
      the movement and rendering is excellent, but there are still subtle things that dont move, like the shadows, and as you said, they are not breathing, and parts of their face move but other parts dont...
      it gives the images a creepy feeling, like a dead person partly came back to life

    The photo of Maudie Adams that you animated... I thought it was a photo of Grand Duchess Maria or Grand Duchess Anastasia of Russia.
    Seeing the photo of Maria toward the end did nothing to dissuade me that the earlier photo is not of one or the other of the Grand Duchesses.
    Regardless, about the photo of Maria, the sadness that you've invoked by giving her the very slight side-to-side shake of her head is heart-breaking. - -Those children were so young and innocent of anything except being born to their parents!
    The colorization and animation of historic photos continues to astound and delight me. Thank you so much for showing them!
