The tree was a eucalyptus regnans aka mountain ash. It had been damaged from another fallen tree and it also had decay at the base. It is sad that trees have to be removed but it was imperative that these were. They were not safe!
I would be so nervous with that chainsaw only a foot away from the rope attaching you to the tree--not to mention the possibility of the cut-piece kicking back. You have some serious skills and confidence!
That truly was an epic fell. Great job and it's a shame 60ish people managed to hit the dislike button instead of the thumbs up like everyone else who does this work and can appreciate the skill and guts it takes to safely remove these damaged hazardous trees. Great edit work too on all the footage.
Just some perspective: E. regnans can grow to 100 m and is considered to be the tallest hardwood in the world. One tree of this species that CSIRO measured in Southern Tasmania was 5.4 m in diameter. So this is not a large example compared to old growth (>110 year old) trees.
good job. I liked the vertical side/speed line while piecing the trunk down, hopefully that job paid for a raptor lol. that was quite the haul with just hand/foot ascender
Beautiful....I actually get a rush out of watching a huge tree like that, taken down professionally... I think if you went up about 4 more feet, the FAA, would have fined you for not having wings at that height..
Awesome. Could you make a bit of an explanatory video, where you maybe explain the process a bit and the "rope work" you used to secure yourself and catch the falling tree parts?
tetsi0815 hey yeah so we use a Big slingshot to shoot a line into the tree, set up a climbing line and a lowering line usually at highest point of the tree.the lowering line runs through a pulley and down to the ground through a friction device then the other end ties off to the branch we cut and so on. :)
Ralph C they're called wing cuts, they're used to stop the bark tearing down and grabbing your pole belt(the rope holding me to the tree)when the piece falls
Q1: What are the side notches on either side of the hinges you made before cutting the "felling cut"? Are they to prevent tear-out or help guide the fall? Q2: How did you get the ropes back up to your position?
Really like 👍 your work, and the Ground Crew, on those Slippery Gum Trees 🌳, what size Bar do you use on the MS 201 T Chainsaw,? Also tree 🌳 Management applications are Top Notch.
Fantastic and thank you for posting. Since I know nothing about this expertly done job, I am curious that didn't wear any special gloves to avoid any injury. I can imagine that without gloves it allows for better handling of the tools.
Great videos brother🤙 I'm just getting into climbing I've been a ground man for my brother for some time now and starting to climb now. Do you mind me asking what the cuts on both sides of the notch do ? I've never seen that before besides in TH-cam videos what does that do ?
Very impressive landing those large sections flat. And the use of a vertical speed line as a backup for runaway logs (3:10) was ingenious. How do you calculate landing timber flat is there a formula you use?
Do you have any recommendations for hand ascenders for srt? Single or double? I’m going to be doing more srt work but I’m pretty lean and my grip strength isn’t great really burns my arms after a long ascent. Awesome videos mate always looking in awe at you
Well Done! I'm envious of your large number of views! By the way, You are in (the Legend) Graeme MCMahon country Know him? or Ace? Graeme is Sherbrooke Tree...and, imo, the best there is, bar none.
rbtree you are correct, Legends aren't born from one Trophy Tree Removal, it takes years & years, there will never be another Legend like Graeme McMahon, I'm telling you that right now!

Great video and your respect for the tree is evident. Good job.

The things that hit The dislike button are nothing more than jealous pieces of pure shit.
I'm taking notes. The leash you used while blocking down the wood was pretty sweet.
You sir are at the top of your craft. That was awesome.
My hats off to this guy, job well done.
Very professional tree work. Very calculated and not afraid to rig big. Awesome
I believe I held my breath every time a limb went off the tree!! Be safe up there.
That's just perfect, fair play boys and watch out Ace!! you've got competition and that's a BIG complement to you both #respect.
Louis van deventer thank you! Ace doing incredible stuff all the time, but cheers for the compliments :)
Great video. Great job as well, right next to the house!
Super awesome experience. Totally loved the climb, and glad there was no injury of the crew. #awesomevideo

Noel Clark yeah true this was tiny compared to some
The tallest tree in the world was a regnans, they cut it down to measure it, somewhere
Around 130 metres 😑
Whoa ! That is epic! Makes our trees look like twigs.
Much like your arms then.
haha
;P

Great rope work
Awesome job guys keep it up
What's the purpose of the shallow cut about 1-½ inches below the main cut?
Ralph C they're called wing cuts, they're used to stop the bark tearing down and grabbing your pole belt(the rope holding me to the tree)when the piece falls
How much would something like this cost?
Amazing skill, fearless..!! Bravo.!
You betcha I subscribed to this channel!!!!!
Really amazing and interesting, what height do you usually work at please. Thanks.
Oh, and NICE sharp chainsaws ! :-D
Q1: What are the side notches on either side of the hinges you made before cutting the "felling cut"? Are they to prevent tear-out or help guide the fall?

I ever nervous at those heights
does your balls clang when ya walk? takes some brass ones to climb and cut like that! great groundsmen too ! hats off to ya!
Just curious, why did you cut below your notch
Very cool job :)
Look you got cool you got awesome and than you got this
Hey Fruitarian, Is it difficult for an Arborist from the US to find work down there? Is ISA Cert. a must?
Great videos brother🤙 I'm just getting into climbing I've been a ground man for my brother for some time now and starting to climb now. Do you mind me asking what the cuts on both sides of the notch do ? I've never seen that before besides in TH-cam videos what does that do ?
Stormy Carneal thanks mate the cuts on either side stop the bark from tearing and grabbing your pole belt. Climb safe brother!
hey man if you think your job is really that cool more power to ya
Very impressive landing those large sections flat. And the use of a vertical speed line as a backup for runaway logs (3:10) was ingenious.
How do you calculate landing timber flat is there a formula you use?
Thanks mate, if the piece is about one 5th of the height it should land fairly flat 👍
Cracking job :-)
That's one bad ass dude
Why do you cut either side of the notch before making the back cut? Awesome work btw man
I'd love to know where this is!? I grew up in the dandenongs. Looks so familiar!
Nice job
Amazing!!!!!!!!
Why did you push the log with your hand? Isn't it dangerous?
"Isn't it dangerous?" No. This climber knows his stuff....
Thats like a damn Avatar nest
👍Grande!!!
What size of chainsaw's are you working with to cut down that tree ? Keep up the good work 👍🏼✌🏼️

Thanks mate, I love the petzl single hand ascender
You don't need either, if you rope walk and use both a foot and knee ascender.....
Big island?
Amazing
What is name of the background track you use for this video, please?
Seriously professional stuff chaps. That timber is SO bloody heavy too isn't it? Where are you based? NZ Christchurch ?
Aus
The bark, foliage, and size look a lot more like Eucalyptus than Ash.
Eucalyptus Regnans aka Mountain Ash.
Hadn't heard that one before ... explains it.
Eddie Cole thanks dad being a tree man now you know your stuff 🤓
I want to climb one of those Eucalyptus sooo bad all we have are white pine here
what is the name of the song you use to this

That's true, Ace. But you and your boys have got it going on, fo sho!!
Хорошая работа! Лайк парни!
Like Reg Coates in those tall trees
I hope that was milled into usable planks.
treserious the logs were taken offsite in large sections and will be used
@@treeclimberharry582 The timber was most likely burnt on a log fire.
why use ascender if you’re gonna just take it down? No spike’s?
Easier to use ascenders than spur up this tree. I have an ascender attached to my spurs
awesome
Epic
Mooiweruk!!!!
wow great
How long did it take you to bring those ropes on and cut those trees?
Kreativer Einfall 3 and a half
Days :)
Reminds me of Tarzan Thomas.
That was money on that last stem..lobbed tell but up n over
Perfecto 👌🏻
Song name ?
try more subtle music next time Mr. Bay
What like Kashmir?
this guy is pals with dexter morgan
Swoost because I look like him or because I'm "murdering" trees?
If he did it with a nail clipper, now that would be epic. Even without the song "This video needs to be epic" by" Epic" (EPIC label).
tall trees man. those trees are a lot of cuts to prevent tears and wrong pealing
that's a lot of baseball bats.
NO GLOVES!!!!!
RIP trees :'(
Juan Pretorius he didn't just cut them down for no reason. They would have been dangerous..
music?
bingoswe stellar music Apollo from NCS :)
