    Thanks for illustrating and discussing connectivity as most seem to think this is obvious but with the subtle or not too subtle differences in functionality of various digital devices i really helps. As to ferrum, I am impressed by a firm that really innovates instead of mainly producing meaningless marketing spin

    A company that has updating their devices in its DNA. Love that.
    Very thorough review and the explanation of the inner workings is one of the reasons this channel is so good. Thanks Hans!

    Thanks for this great review, I've been waiting for one over a month and this is the first I came across and I am happy it's you! I switched to Ferrum (Hypsos/OOR stack) earlier this year and added the Wandla DAC a few weeks ago without prior testing. I am impressed by the looks, capabilities, quality and sound improvement. I certainly recommend this 3 piece combo and (what many people are also interested in) it works very, very well with the more difficult to drive headphones such as the Abyss 1266 TC and Susvara. I do use Roon and EQ, no brainer to me but to each their own.

    Hans, as always another great video. I have the Ferrum Hypos as well as a Mytek Brooklyn Dac+. Would I see an improvement in sq if I were to replace the Mytek with the Wandla?

    Thanks for a good review. I've got a question for you. What do you think of the Mytek Brooklyn compared to the Ferrum Wandla Dac? From what I understand, it was Hem that had service and manufactured Mytek products. Is there some similarity between brooklyn and Ferrum Dac. Do you have any thoughts about this that you would like to share? Kind regards, Erik

    How does the Wandla/Hypsos sound compared to the big guys as Chord Dave and Mola Mola Tambaqui?

      I would also like to know this.

      Seriously? There is a clear gap between the Dave and Mola Mila on one side and the Wandla on the other. But the Wandla sounds great in its class.

      @@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel this is a valid question. People like comparisons. As Steve Gutenberg says, “detailed, solid imaging…ahhh but I can say that about another product too but it doesn’t mean they’re the same” asking about Nola and Dave is a way to understand what level it is on. While you did answer that in your comment, first you bashed him for asking.

    Held on to the Hypsos when I sold the M-Scaler (not needed with Grimm Mu1) glad I did!

    Hi, how big is a difference between the Wandla vs. the Erco? Is it worthwhile to change? Thank you.

      Whether it's worth wile depends on your stereo, how you value money and whether you are a critical listener or not.

    One thing is confusing me about DACs in general. I have a Silent Angel Rhein Z1 Roon Core and I can't work out if this is a streamer also. Can I connect a DAC directly and stream directly from Roon & Tidal? Or do I need an extra streamer? I am confused as I have a Bluesound Node and this is a streamer and a DAC

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel
      @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can use the Rhein as streamer by connecting a DAC to it and subscribing to Roon (roon.app/en/pricing). You then control Roon from your smartphone, tablet or computer. See my videos on Roon here: th-cam.com/video/yrRfhWcLoqA/w-d-xo.html&pp=gAQBiAQB

      @@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel Thank you. I appreciate that. I am already using Roon and was very surprised by the sound quality improvement running Roon on the Silent Angel Roon core. This Ferrum review was very helpful and I am strongly considering buying. Looking for a place to audition in the Netherlands

    Hi Hans! Thanks for this review. How long was the burn in period for Wandla?

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel

      Not sure. I don't know where the review sample has been before it came to me. I always have it several days during in 24/7 to be sure.

    Is this product mainly aimed at the headphone crowd or can this be used in a pure 2 channel application.

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel
      @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is for use in a 'normal sttereo' . Ferrum has a separate model for headphone listening.

    Hello, did you bypass the preamp in your test?

    • @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel
      @TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      All DACs have a line amp just prior to the output. When you use the DAC as preamp the only difference is that a volume control lowers the output voltage. So you can never bypass ‘the preamp’. I used it set to max output.

      @@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel the brand is called "Ferrum", as you might know Latin for iron. Thus what it is supposed to look like (or even actually might be), is obviously corroded iron!
