Ok I am a 75 year old pipe smoker whose only diversion is my pipe. I limit myself to one bowl a day while I entertain myself with pipe related videos. Thank you for the diversion. I enjoyed it!
Hey Adam, firstly I’d like to say thank you for all you do in the pipe community and pipe sphere. It’s nice to see somebody my age so entranced and so enthusiastic about something as little as a piece of wood we stuff the beautiful leaf into that so many people undervalue or just downright don’t like or understand. As I write this I’m sitting in my garage puffing on some GLP Stratford in a pipe my grandfather once owned and loved. A dull, rough and rather boring Tinderbox bent billiard. All of that aside, the appearance means nothing to me, but rather the leaf inside and the thoughts my grandpa may have had while smoking his codger blend. Every time I have this pipe hanging from my mouth it brings back memories of a smoke filled work shop or barn I’d find my grandpa in as a kid. Bennie makes beautiful pipes that are meant to be smoked, cared for and loved by those who have the opportunity to own one, and hopefully be passed to the next generation to do the same. Artisan pipes, are well artisan and each of them a piece of artwork expressing the maker of said pipe hoping to connect with some stranger they may or may not have even met. I myself do not have any artisan pipes, but rather a humble collection of cobs, bones, and factory pipes. Some of which have been passed down to me. My smoking career if you’d call it that started when I was 19 and still going strong 8 years later with no end in sight. I’d love to own an artisan pipe, and to be honest, I don’t know why I don’t. It may be price or rather I’m just happy with what I already have. No matter what the case is all of my pipes are equally cherished and well cared for. Thank you again for the thoughtfulness and kindness you give to us all with your podcast, discord and literally the best quality videos. 12 percenter baby. IG: the_plant_lab
I have a handful of artisan pipes, and one goal I had for this year was to purchase a few more. The last 3 I was able to purchase straight from the artisan at a pipe show and I think that is my favorite way. Getting to talk with them about the pipe and maybe how they came up with the idea makes it all that much cooler. Thanks for the giveaway! Great video, always looking forward to more. Love the smoking shots inside YOUR house! Hell yes!! Piping and gaming is pretty dope huh?
I don't own any artisan pipes yet, the price point has been to high for me to get my hands on one but the movie Father the flame made me truly consider to get one even though the high price point is a bit steep. What I'm waiting for now is the feeling of finding one pipe where I know it is the one for me, but as I am in Sweden it is harder to consider this hobby since we don't really have any pipe shows to go, and the supply of tobacco to buy is about 4 different brands and about 10 different kind of tins. Thank you for a good video.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video while smoking my Artisan Cellini Freehand that I inherited from my late father. The Escudo Navy De Luxe tobacco in it is wonderful. Thank you, Brother. Cheers!
Enjoyed your video. My only artisan pipe is a Jack Ryan rusticated straight Dublin with Cumberland steam I commissioned back in February. And I’m not on instagram.
After watching this video I will purchase one of these in the near future. You’ve convinced me I’ve battled with myself saying no need to step out of your 7 day pipe rotation. Maybe a gift for myself this Christmas. Peace
Being fairly new to pipe smoking, I haven’t invested in an artisan pipe yet. I’m still trying different pipe styles and tobacco blends and finding what fits me and what I enjoy. Also, having children apparently rearranges your monetary priorities or something but ONE day I’ll treat myself to an heirloom artisan pipe.. or win one 🤞😏
I see the humidor sitting behind you. Are you a cigar smoker as well or do you keep your pipe tobacco in the humidor? If so, can you do a video of storing your pipe tobacco? Thanks for the great videos.
I'm a big fan of my first artisan pipe, a Taylor made. However I do always seem to gravitate back to my workhorse Petersons or Briarworks. They are just always to hand! Maybe I'm a little gun shy of toting an expensive pipe around in fear of breaking it but I think I will work on just going ahead and smoking it regardless of where I am. They are made to be used after all.
Hey Adam, we met at the country squire 500th podcast, I was the one who told Neal(npod101) he had a beautiful pipe in which he immediately dropped it and broke the stem when he tried to show me.Well now I work at the country squire as of recently and have been smoking pipe for about 3 years now. I currently do not have any artisan pipes but definitely have some in mind as my maximum I’m willing to spend on a pipe continues to raise. It was good meeting you that day and it has been interesting learning more from you through your video. @Trannycovey
Hey! No Instagram here, but just wanted to say I've subscribed and looking forward to more videos! This video was great, and really inspires me to look further into artisan pipes and its artists. Thanks!
Greetings from Prague, Czech Republic. Thank you for your video. I have got several pipes from companies like Stanwell, Vauen ETC:) but there was a day when I decided to invest into local artisans pipes.. and honestly the quality, design, experience is on the highest level and the price is very reasonable everytime... the biggest advantage is that you can discuss the shape, color, weight ETC and receive UNIQUE PIECE OF ART... and still you support very skillful and gentle guys...
Thank you for the thoughtful insight into the "why" of artisan pipes. I remember in your podcast that you did a very thorough interview with Nate King on this very issue, and asked all the questions that the rest of us were too embarrassed to ask. The truth is that pipe smoking is a journey, and one that we take alone for at least most of the time. When I first got into pipes and premium tobacco, I had no idea why someone would be willing to pay so much for a smoking pipe. The reality is that we pipe smokers spend so much time with our pipes that we form a special relationship with each one. It is at that point that one begins to appreciate, and long for, the artisan pipe. Furthermore, if a pipe smoker is lucky enough to be part of a local pipe smoking community, then that pipe smoker will beam with pride when he/she unveils their newest artisan acquisition in front of envious eyes. On the other hand, factory pipes also have a place in my heart. My favorite thing to do while smoking a pipe (besides absolutely nothing) was to watch the treasure trove of TH-cam videos published by Matches 860. When Matches passed away a few years ago, the YTPC petitioned Savinelli to make a commemorative edition of Matches "Friday Savinelli" (the 673 ks). I was never able to get my hands on one, but that didn't stop me from purchasing the regular model at my local pipe shop. Since then I have made many friends there, and I return every 2nd Saturday for Pipe Club. Now, a few years later, I enjoy buying a new factory pipe occasionally from the pipe shop. Then I take it on a maiden voyage with people who know what pipe smoking is all about. @fang.feast
Hi Adam , Artisan pipes for me all the way , getting a commissioned pipe is fantastic , the communication between the artisan & yourself helps you feel very much part of the Experience, & definitely a joyful time when that smoking Machine arrives at your door , Magic moment in this pipe universe. Thanks again Adam for all the work you do 👍👊🔥🔥stay cool man , Kev.
Great video Adam! It’s all in what makes people happy. That’s the beauty of this hobby/lifestyle. You can chase down and acquire every artisan pipe that speaks to you. Or you can buy a handful of cobs and smoke them til you burn them out, then rinse and repeat. Artisan pipes are like paintings. Does an original painting from someone do anything differently from a mass production print. They’re both attractive to their respective audiences. To me it’s about a connection to that piece. If you like it, doesn’t matter where it came from for the most part. I’ve got a couple entry level artisan pipes and I love them. Yet I’ve never connected to them like I did my Ardor which is “factory”. To be honest I feel quite blessed to have bought my holy grail pipe early in my pipe journey. I’ve not been left wanting for any pipe. If ever a pipe gives me that feeling again. I’ll buy it regardless of cost within reason. To that end I’m working on collecting odd and unusual pipes. Because when I try to compare any pipe I see to that one. They just don’t hold up for me. So now I just want to have fun searching and collecting, while doing so on a semi-responsible budget. Leaving the opportunity to grab that next magical pipe. If it ever comes along. 12%’er
Great videos my friend. I am new to pipe Smoking. I started this past January. I have 5 Peterson silver spigot pipes and the pipe of the year 2023. I have 5 Savinelli pipes. And 3 Missouri Meerschaum pipes. I just bought my first Meerschaum pipe. I would love to get an artisan pipe but have not spent over $250.00 for any pipe. They are definitely beautiful. Have a blessed week. I have followed you on instagram and Bennie Joe. John
Hi Adam 👍 ,, it’s been a while since I’ve seen your blogs , I thought I’d been unsubscribed 🤨 , good to see you .. one day I will have to dig deep into my pocket and get an Artisan pipe , for sure .. great vid as always and very educational.. 54 and still consider myself as a newbie to pipe smoking,, Rich, from Wales 🏴👍👍..
The one actual artisan pipe I have is made by J.M Boswell. I love this pipe so much, but as it comes this is one of the most expensive pipes I own. This pipe sadly doesn't get smoked as much as I would like. I'm so glad that I found Get Piped and the Galactic Get Piped Pipe Club. They have been such great resources and insight into all things pipe smoking and so much more. I hope to one day meet the ever so handsome Get Piped. Pipe as you please my friends!
I ran into your podcast today and jumped over to YT to check it out. Thanks for what you’re doing. I have been away from the pipe for about 30 years and forgot how much I enjoyed the hobby. I have never owned an artisan pipe, unless you count some of my meerschaums. The pipes I do own and have kept are steeped in memories with friends and family. I would love to talk to a pipe maker, make a friend, and acquire some of their work. New memories….priceless. ronald_e_ohrt
Great video brother! I really enjoyed learning about that mbsd website and Bennie Joe...etc (see what I did there?) 😏 Keep up the great content man. Until the next one 👊 take care.
My go to for questions like this is "Por que no los dos" I have 9, soon to be 10 pipes, a mix of Basket, decent factory and a really nice artisan(soon to be 2 artisan pipes)
It’s always tough. I normally google “tobacconist” or “cigar” and try to find any in an area that have nothing to do with vapes or glass pipes. Then it’s a hit or miss if they have pipes in tobacco
@@GetPiped we are headed to Bryson City, NC and it would be cool to find a new store. Thank you for your reply!! I really enjoy your channel. I retired from the Army in 2016. Thank you for your service!
I have 1 artisan pipe so far but I have noticed that alot of people on the Instagram and Facebook push for the artisan style. I will admit the price point is more than what I like to spend for something that I can't hold in my hand but the way everyone talks about the artisan pipes I will need to save my pennies and purchase more!
... now this again depends on your definition of "artisan" ... is Bruno Nuttens an artisan, if so I own 3 ... is Todd Brugman, L.J. Peretti's in-house pipe maker ?? again, if so - my favorite pipe I own ... all are classic shapes and designs ... or are artisan pipes the Danish free-hand designs like Bennie's ??
I will normally purchase an artisan pipe in remembrance of someone or some event. Example: When my mother passed away I purchased a Grant Batson Lumberman Tulip. Reminds me of my mom, long suffering, classy, never lets you down ect. Or when my wife and I was doing the Appalachian Trail, after around 1,100 miles or so we got into Pennsylvania and I went to Boswell’s and picked out a pipe. There are others. Every time I smoke one of these pipes memories abound… The Artisan pipes I choose fit the person or event, in my mind anyway. If I won the pipe you’re giving away I would think about you every time I smoked that pipe. Is that a blessing or a curse? I don’t know. Haha. Anyway keep up the good work!
I think artisan pipes are very beautiful and think it would be grand to have one, but I will never be able to spend that kind of money on a pipe. My wife would have a heart Attack. (Single income). Love your podcast and videos, been here from the start and I listen to the end. What did you call it ( the 12% ers). Poffkirk
It seems my response got deleted last night. Long story short I love artisan pipes. But I also love my Castellos. I've recently discovered Bay Denmark pipes. Love their pipes.
fantastic looking pipes...I've just started pipe smoking so I have 0 experience with artisan pipes that said a coworker of mine has a brother that makes some beautiful ones and generally stays in that $150-$300 range the only pipes he would sell for more than that he's decided to keep himself or gift to someone...lol I'm 31 going on 91 so hard pass on making an Instagram 😁😅I don't have any social media accounts at all...comes with the territory of my current occupation as a Correctional Officer at a maximum security prison that works the gang and contraband division I'm pretty much most hated and have had several prices put on me.....those platforms make it too easy to find me or family....the closest is my google account that is required for a gmail and used for youtube and gives no important information.....
I would love to have an artisan pipe! I want to find one that expresses how I feel on the inside as I'm smoking my pipe. As silly as sounds, I want it to be an extension of my soul. I haven't bought one yet because 1. My wife isn't to keen about the price of them and 2. I haven't found one yet that calls out to me. I know..... I'm cheesy. Lol! _ eigots _
I just can't justify spending that kind of money on an artisan pipe. Much rather spend it on things like ammo or tobacco or quality tea. Sorry old 11M, I got my priorities.😅
@@davidrowland3628 work, podcast, family, and my $900 camera lens broke filming my latest video. I also am finishing up a 1 hour documentary film on pipe smoking coming this year
There is ONE rule to pipe smoking, and if ONE doesn’t stick to it …well, they’ll see. Rule? DON’T USE A TORCH LIGHTER TO LIGHT THE TOBACCO IN YOUR PIPE !!!
Great video I’d love too at that I have two artisan pipe and I think everyone should have at least one they can afford. These are so much more then a tool, it’s genuinely a piece of art you can hold and use! Factory pipes are not artisan pipes. The not to belittle them or the people making them. They are tradesman and that’s something to be proud of (I my self and a tradesman) but this is the next level. These pipes are a passion and vision poured into every piece. It is unique and you can feel the love put into them. Kinda like nothing beats a home cooked meal from your mom or wife. Even a five star restaurant would have trouble competing with the love that is put in a home made meal. It’s sad but these makers aren’t in it for the money. They are there to share a passion and you by owning one can experience what they want to convey. These pipes are art, passion, and love. Cheers! @moot_the_cannibal
My first artisan pipe was made by Nick Johnson. He makes fun unique pipes that are out of the box. I fell in love with one and bought it on the spot and by the time that I left the shop I had bought another. I love hearing the story of each pipe from the idea until the pipe is complete! I love my artisan pipes and how creative each one is! @603EDC
I think that one of the beautiful things about artisan pipes is that you add to the artisan's story by purchasing their work and then get to carry a piece of that story wherever the pipe goes. Though I have yet to commission a piece for myself, I plan on changing that when my birthday rolls around this year. I find it amazing how some carved wood and shredded leaves allow for a relationship to be built that surpasses all barriers. @themorningvoice
I currently do not have any artisan pipes yet. My only reservation is there is so many good artisian makers I simply can't choose a maker/ shape. I love so many pipe shapes it's hard to choose. I'll take the plunge one of these days😂. mudflap_1776
Still not owning one, i'm currently looking forward becoming a first time father in august. This might be the one good reason for me to get an artisan pipe. Or maybe by winning your give away 😅😂 Love your Work, Long time listener of your and Nicks Podcast. Greetings from Germany, keep ist Up 🤙🏻! @dnsgslr87
Ok trying to comment for the 3rd time. Hey Adam I appreciate all of the hard work you put in to creating quality content here and the pod. I don’t currently own any artisan pipes but thanks to Nate King for introducing me to Kevin Foster “Foster Handmade” a beautiful Dublin should be showing up at my house next week. @Quintrell864 GGPPC Zach.Q PS I’m the guy that got his arm signed.
I can’t afford premium artisan pipes. But I love supporting the underdog’s with a mission. So I buy Morgan bones pipes. Cheap and hand finished. leedy010186
Another awesome video. I really enjoy them. I currently don’t have any artisan pipes and only three good briars. I mostly smoke cobs because of affordability. However one day I hope to finally use one of these beautiful pieces of art as I feel it will connect me to the creative mind that produced it. I am in continual awe of what it takes for each individual to put their souls into something so beautiful. Thank you CPT - bg_piper_77
Sweet video and a beautiful pipe!! Love the kitty outro!! I haven't, as of yet, had the pleasure of experiencing an artisan pipe. This is due to the price attached to these works of art. Perhaps someday I will allocate the funds to procure one, until then I shall have to admire them from afar. @fishing_whisky_leather
Hi Adam, Another great video! I feel pipe smoking is about the passion for pipes and artisan pipes express this in a way that cannot be matched by factory pipes. They are pieces of art that are an expression of the pipe maker, meant to be appreciated and admired for generations. @dalejames13
Great video and great artisan! I own a few artisan pipes and definitely plan on buying more. I love each one i own for different reasons, whether it is the shape, finish or stem. Thanks for a great giveaway! @piper_down14
I don’t own an artisan pipe yet, will be ordering my first briar soon(friday, morgan bones). But the interactions ive had with people with such pipes is unparalleled and i have a belief that it is because of the community. Right now i smoke a MM Riverboat Gambler and I am not looked down on or anything for having a cheaper pipe. The people i meet are encouraging and friendly and they just care about people enjoying the hobby as much as they do and care about getting piped(had to sorry). So to me having a pipe as beautiful as this would be awesome but being a part of the community is beyond the most important part of smoking pipes! @timjjr2010
If I saw you smoking that pipe out in public I would be thinking "they know what's up". My most smoked pipe is a MM Country Gentleman paired with a Forever Stem and I definitely have and had some nice pipes.
An artisan pipe is a work of art, an instrument made to perfectly smoke quality tobacco, who wouldn’t want to have a perfect instrument in their mouth for that ultimate smoking experience @petenumber2

... now this again depends on your definition of "artisan" ... is Bruno Nuttens an artisan, if so I own 3 ... is Todd Brugman, L.J.
I don’t own an artisan pipe, but I’d love to Get Artisaned! But it looks like I’m about a year late to the party…😢
I’ll be doing more giveaways!!
I have a few artisan pipes. I would say that many many factory pipes are functional and beautiful, but artisan pipes are functional sculptures.
Why have you stopped producing videos ?
@@samuelstambaugh5181 I’m a busy guy! More videos to come soon
Poffkirk
i would love a artisan pipe, the story's and work behind them, but to be honest, like really honest. im broke. no money.
It seems my response got deleted last night. Long story short I love artisan pipes. But I also love my Castellos. I've recently discovered Bay Denmark pipes. Love their pipes.
Morrowind, the best game!
Soooo good!
fantastic looking pipes...I've just started pipe smoking so I have 0 experience with artisan pipes that said a coworker of mine has a brother that makes some beautiful ones and generally stays in that $150-$300 range the only pipes he would sell for more than that he's decided to keep himself or gift to someone...lol I'm 31 going on 91 so hard pass on making an Instagram 😁😅I don't have any social media accounts at all...comes with the territory of my current occupation as a Correctional Officer at a maximum security prison that works the gang and contraband division I'm pretty much most hated and have had several prices put on me.....those platforms make it too easy to find me or family....the closest is my google account that is required for a gmail and used for youtube and gives no important information.....
I know..... I'm cheesy. Lol!

I just can't justify spending that kind of money on an artisan pipe. Much rather spend it on things like ammo or tobacco or quality tea. Sorry old 11M, I got my priorities.😅
What happened to you?
@@davidrowland3628 work, podcast, family, and my $900 camera lens broke filming my latest video. I also am finishing up a 1 hour documentary film on pipe smoking coming this year
There is ONE rule to pipe smoking, and if ONE doesn’t stick to it …well, they’ll see.
Rule? DON’T USE A TORCH LIGHTER TO LIGHT THE TOBACCO IN YOUR PIPE !!!
My original comment got deleted lol
So did mine
Same
Great video I’d love too at that I have two artisan pipe and I think everyone should have at least one they can afford.
@603EDC
No artisans as of yet, but I have been looking at them for some time. Excellent video! Bennie Joe was a good choice.
@jmsharron
@themorningvoice
@fishing_whisky_leather
Hi Adam,
Another great video!
I feel pipe smoking is about the passion for pipes and artisan pipes express this in a way that cannot be matched by factory pipes. They are pieces of art that are an expression of the pipe maker, meant to be appreciated and admired for generations.
@dalejames13
Great video and great artisan! I own a few artisan pipes and definitely plan on buying more. I love each one i own for different reasons, whether it is the shape, finish or stem. Thanks for a great giveaway! @piper_down14
Don't own artisan pipe, don't smoke often and not that long. Not sure it would be worth the investment @Pattersonjim69
I look forward to one day owning an artisan pipes so I can enjoy smoking my favorite tobacco in a work of art @petenumber2
