I run the T-Motor F7 HD FC and I have two older ones with the MPU6000 and the rest have the BMI270. I use the same tuning principles for filters and PIDs. They both fly great.

Excellent video again! It might be worth mentioning that the ICM gyros are quite a bit more sensitive to electrical noise and some board design seriously f**ked up the power supply on the 3.3V rail.
At 5:30 you mention a link in the description. Is it missing? It’s to a video of yours that discusses low pass filters, cut-off frequencies and what both are.

Something to note. Stay away from the BMI270 for inav, and (maybe) betaflight quads where you want to use auto level modes. In iNav, the BMI270 has issues with the horizon drift. Not sure if it impacts betaflight or not, but I inav, the ICM is preferable, especially for things like loiter and rth.
@@IvanEfimovLimon yeah, so in inav, there is something to do about the accelerometer and gyro and gps not properly compensating for banked turns, and so as you make banked turns, over time, the horizon slowly begins to sink or rise during big slow banked turns. This error accumulates as time goes on and it begins to become noticable to the point that level modes like angle and horizon are no longer "aiming" at a level horizon but..."somewhere else". This causes any use of those modes to slowly lose or gain altitude. Apparently, this is exacerbated by something on the BMI 270 not being properly calibrated from the factory in some way, but I don't know enough to speak on it further. I know this issue is largely mitigated in inav6, but still, matek is no longer putting the BMI in their "wing" flight controllers because of this. Again, this is outside the spirit of your video, as it was looking at noise performance, just thought it was worth mentioning.
noooo it also happens to my quad, frame, pid setting and filters are the top, perfect calibrations, complete absence of wind and the quad seems out of "convergence" always pulls to the right, with this BMI270 with Betaflight Firmware
I have 3 identical racers. Switchback lite frame, foxeer reaper slim, tmotor racer mini f7, wasp major 2020kv motors. The first one ive build first works fine since forever. However the 2nd and 3rd quad freaks out if i do sharp corners. All software should be identical too. I flashed all with bf4.5. I applied the karaterace 4.5 tune with bmi270 experimental, dshot600, dynamic idle for 2000kv, 500hz elrs. Im really bad at blackbox analysis, thats why im watching these kind of vids but theres SOOOO much information out there. I am now trying to use bf blackbox explorer because i saw you using it, before i used pidtoolbox. All that really bugs me is that really everything is idenically but quad 1 flew awesome since day one and 2 and 3 dont. Like i said im really really not into reading graphs and spectograms so ill just continue learning for now (and maybe playing with the filter settings a bit). Maybe someone can help me 🤷🤷♂
@@Mamawsw no like i said they are IDENTICAL. In the meantime i found a solution. I made the battery lead/capacitor shorter on all 3 quads wich helped a bit. Then i apllied the "karate array" filter preset on top of the karate tune only on the 2 mentioned quads. Somehow this works now
I have mpu6000 iflight 20x20 fc on bf4.3. I bought spare fc from them and got a bmi270. with all settings same(except pid loop frequency and filters set for bmi) it flies exactly same as far as I can tell.
ICM20602 on a HW F7 mini is not working for my racing rigs as well as BMI gyro on two different F722v3. On all of them I get flyaways with a tune that is working perfectly fine with MPU gyros. 😬 Today I received a logfile that had terrible spazzing on YAW axis, ICM20602 on the FC. I really tried everything but had no luck. There is a reason that Foxeer put a MPU on the v4 again or I'm just unlucky and all of them gyros are broken by factory. The Noise at 45 Hz I got as well on the BMI gyros. Maybe with way lower PIDs it will work properly but thats somewhat limiting the tune in regards of gains. For the ICM I had to reduce my PIDs like 30% and it was still showing spazzes in hard moves. Great flying at the end of the video!😃

@@marlin-fpv im in Houston. Hobbywing F7 was a very popular FC loved by many pilots. You could just have a bad luck with bad units? I'm curious to see your blackbox.
I am a shit pilot, but my opinion on it has often been that the only people that can typically feel the difference are those trying to feel a difference. Unless as you mention its a bad batch or if they have a mechanical issue in their build, I would bet a lot of people couldn't tell the difference in a blind test. They just have a pre-determined opinion, and any little blip they feel they will just blame it on the gyro or whatever component they are trying to "test."
BrainFPV used to use the BMI160 on the RE1 (discontinued due to being first generation BrainFPV board and introduction of Radix V1), the Radix V1 (discontinued due to Radix 2 being introduced), and the Radix Li (discontinued due to material shortages). The only big issue with the BMI160 that UAV Tech found was it had a big spike of noise around the 750hz range. BMI270 fixed this issue and the 750hz spike is no longer there.
