Roosters dominated the first 20, Warriors were able to repel them until not long after. Warriors slowly make their way back into the game, almost take the lead at half time. Come back out after half time score a wonderful individual try through Jones.
Warriors were in a great position Meli knocks the ball on after a kick from Jones a few metres out from the tryline. The very next set after, Fittler kicks the 40/20. Suddenly the Warriors are attacking the Roosters tryline looking to go 2 scores up - the next minute they're defending their own goal line. To me, the Warriors were slipping off tackles too easily even when they were in a great position to take the game by the scruff of the neck.
There's a major breakdown in communication between Guttenbeil and Toopi that sees Wing score the try to take the lead
So thats a minor hiccup no big deal the Warriors are still the better team at this point.
Just a few minutes later Fittler gets collected by the rump of Koopu trying to put in a big hit. Fittler knocks it on in the process,
That knocks Fittler to the ground, Villasanti comes over the top collects Fittler in the head with a careless headbutt, it goes horribly wrong.
Amazingly the video officials take a lot at the incident again, they DO NOT give a penalty to the Roosters but continue the game with a Warriors scrum feed inside the Roosters half.
What you see here from the 60 minute mark onwards is CLEAR. The Roosters forwards are angry at what happened to their captain and physically dominate the Warriors. The Warriors only gain about 10 or so metres from a full attacking set after the Villasanti incident. A poor end to the set gives Roosters great field position. Villasanti knocks the ball inside his own half. The Warriors spend the next few sets defending their try line again.
Fitzgibbon is stopped half a metre out from the try line by Marsh. However Marsh continuing through with momentum in the tackle accidentally drags Fitzgibbon into the in goal area and Fitzgibbon grounds the ball to put them up by two scores.
The Warriors were already starting to slip off tackles despite been in a dominant position to take control of the game. They were the 2nd fittest team on the day
