    I can’t imagine the amount of work you put into this, but man, this is the best “how to” jump tutorial I’ve ever seen. The visuals and breakdown made me realize why I jump the way I do (bucked and front end heavy). Going to apply this to my next time out on the jump line. Probably asking for too much, but it would be neat if you did a “how to” drop tutorial in the same fashion.

    Thanks Alan for all the hard work. Sessioning with that row technique (especially the pull to hips) has revolutionized my jump game. People always told me to bunny hop off lips, and I was always confused by this b/c I have a good bunny hop and jumping with the bunny hop technique always felt sketchy. Your tips as an intermediate rider who is newer to jumping have made me become less confused by and excited about jumping. Today, I attempted my first suicide no-handed after not being able to clear the jumps 3-months ago. TLDR: Sorry for the rambling comment, but I am stoked on the learning to jump content!

    I thought this video was going to be the same as every other one, but I was presently surprised. The "look up past the lip" technique is a great tip. It will subconsciously put your body in a better position. I hate when people say to "bunny hop" off the lip. That's not how it works. You explained it very well. Great video.

    Great video. I'm 60 YO and I never really jumped anything, we always dropped off stuff. Now all these jump lines everywhere has me scared to try. The lips are so steep that they look like they are for pump bikes, not MTBs. Thanks for the tips. I think I'll pick one and session it like you say. Thanks Brother!

    Great video Alan, some solid tips, great advice on concentrating on one thing at a time. One thing no one ever mentions though is how much you need to do it. By my very unscientific reckoning you need to hit around 2500 jumps just to start feeling comfortable hitting moderate sized jumps (FYI I’m an old fart so I’m sure the younger and braver would need less). Sounds a lot but they add up really quick, and really builds the muscle memory needed.

    • @mtb_alan
      @mtb_alan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you appreciated that. I was a CrossFit trainer for several years, and saw how quickly an athlete could make progress with a little bit of singular focus. And in terms of 2500 jump reps...! I will have to do some math and figure out how many jumps I did during the Snow Summit summer season. 🤔 😆

    • @dddd1uk
      @dddd1uk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      MTB ALAN I usually hit around 150 to 200 on a not too intense day at snow summit.
