  • DCS World has so many configuration possibilities! One of the coolest things I think we can do is create our own cockpits and export the MFD screens to other monitors or tablets and today I'm going to show you how!
    TEMPLATE:

    name = _('OverKills Template')
    description = 'OverKill Tutorial'

    For anyone looking to do this with an iPad, HDMI input is now supported on all USB-C iPads using an adapter dongle and a free app. Works great, and you no longer need something like Duet Display.

    Thanks for taking the time to put this together - the template and the video. This saved me a lot of time and it worked for me pretty much right from the start. I just had to change the size of my MFDs to 600x600 and add some space between the main monitor and the two 7" LCDs for the MFDs. After a couple of quick edits, it worked perfectly.

    I need to send you a massive Thanks!!! Your tutorial has just saved me from days of frustrating fault finding... I bought 2 Winwing displays (and other parts for the hornet cockpit) and the Winwing software includes DisplayLink Manager, which is not recognising the displays and thus the displays wont appear in the Winwing SimApp Pro software that is supposed to generate the MFCD imagery. Your vid here showed me how to get the displays working in a shorter time than it took me to unbox and install all the displays etc onto my desk (till I build a cockpit frame out of aluminum extrusion and mount it all in that). Thanks again :) from Scottyd.

    Thx Mike, i loved this tip.
    Because it's always been something that I struggled with after buying a seperate and small 7 in touchscreen . I was always playing DCS with a stretched ovrt too the right, on my main screen for months. That in game, gave me the simular thing. But the aircraft was alway off center. Now that I know I set the in game resolution too 4464 x 1440 to cover the overall length of both my main 3440 x 1440 monitor, plus my 1024x 600 fsmaller monitor together (3440 + 1024) and then In my template file my camera (or main screen area) starts at x=0, y=0, width =3440, height= 1440 and my left & right MFD screen starts at x=3441, y=720-200.
    Now I can play DCS in perfectly centerlized aspect on my main 3440 x 1440 monitor and have two MFD's still appear on my smaller touch screen monitor ❤
    I not going to lie. It still took me hours to do, even with all your help. And I needed to add the new ingame resolution of 4464 x1440 in my option.lua file to get this new resolution added in game.
    But after all this and your help, I been able to achieve my goal.
    The secret was increasing the ingame screen length resolution like a canvas covering the overall length of both my monitors.😊

    Also, for the F-14, the HSD and TSD are what you need to get those on the screens and then if you have a 3rd screen, in the viper you can add the ESI. I’m using the Cubesim lua template for 3 screens with mine.

    I appreciate for the best explanation on internet.
    But here's the deal. Maybe because I installed the game in a different directory, this method did not work for me completely. Or maybe because of new DCS version, I don't know. MonitorSetup folder was in Config, where game was installed. So I had to create a new file over there. The one in Saved Games, did not work.
    And somehow I was not able to create a .lua file, so I got one, deleted everything and modified, then renamed it. It helped.
    If I left anything in Saved games folder, I was not able to start game properly. Weird...
    Hope it helps anyone who experience my problem.

    quick question about the setup of mfds with the tm cougars:
    If I put my screen in the middle of the tm mfd cougar, how do i have to edit the file to tell dcs where the screen ends? Because if I only delay the starting point, I think the display would display all the way to the right, even when theres the tm cougar on top.
