I love the energy you have in this video. Getting rid of stuff you believe you won’t like or won’t read. I think people also forget that if you have an impulse to read a series you’ve already unhauled, you can get it at a charity shop or the library, or borrow it from a friend. You just don’t own it and freeing up space for things you’ll love or that have a higher potential for you to love.
I LOVE unhauls. The satisfaction I get from opening space up for new books makes me so happy. Read what makes you happy and get rid of the rest!

thank you for being the only person i've ever seen mention that book of the month is usa/canada only. i remember how disappointed i was when i first looked it up after seeing it in someone's video, and given that it's everywhere i imagine a lot of other people have had the same experience.
This is honestly goals, I would love to have shelves that are as representative of my reading tastes as yours are now!!

I love Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine, it's my favourite series ever. Spent years collecting all 11 books and I even painted edges black because Polish edition has black covers 🤣 it's the series I will never unhaul, no matter what haha I wasn't sure about book 8 but I kept reading and honestly the last book was the best one. It was everything I needed and wanted ❤️

The Lies of Locke Lamora - yes!! I don’t know why this series hasn’t blown up as much as it should, it’s my favourite series ever. You have to read it!!
This was a lot of fun to watch! But oh, I hope I can convince you about Honor Among Thieves. I can't be certain that you'd like it since I love so many things. But it holds a special place in my heart. The beginning has a bad guy that I'd willingly throttle. A main character who I love, with a backstory that fills me with indignant rage that she was treated like that-and another main character that is just adorable, I love Nadim, and his relationship with Zara was perfection.

I'm so in love with the Uglies series!!!! But I would never suggest you read it just because I like it because I know you won't like it (or Gone series). I would much more prefer you read things you think you will actually enjoy! Love this video.

Love this style of unhauls. When people just sit and show what they’ve pulled, I get bored and pause thinking I’ll come back later. I don’t. I’m not trying to change your mind because I haven’t read them either. However, I was looking for books being adapted yesterday and Uglies was on several lists that I looked at. If that’s something that sways you or not is up to you. Just information I thought you or others may want.
Ooh that actually sways me more towards unhauling bc its the kind of thing I could enjoy an adaptation of but wouldn't like the book 😊
@@BeccaandTheBooks I use to think I had to read it first if something was being adapted but adaptations are taking such creative liberties these days and just keeping the bones of a book, so now I lean toward just watching when it’s a book I probably wouldn’t have read if it wasn’t being adapted so I totally get it.

I tried reading Wicked and despised it but I think that's only because it's so different from the show, which I love and adore. I'm with you about it being over written too.
Omg. I absolutely love the Gone series so you just took me on a wild ride. I think the plot is super interesting and also love that its told through so many povs for the same timeframes. But it is VERY ya. So if you are really not into ya I can see you not really being into it. I read it when it first came out so it is nostalgic. Idk if I would like it as much if I were to have read them for the first time now.

I love watching unhauls I find them so satisfying!! why keep things that don't bring joy to your life? 100% support you getting rid of things you have no interest in anymore! I think for a lot of YA books particularly even people who read them at the time and enjoyed them only keep them for the nostalgia with no intention of ever reading them again (I definitely have some) but unless you have that strong attachment literally what is the point of having those things

"Wouldn't you rather" thoughts is so true. I hate when I get told keep up with the series because book 4 or 5 is when it gets really good. I mean why does it take that long in a series for it to get interesting um no! Make it interesting in book one then I'll continue it
I'll never understand why some people get rid of a hardcover or a better printed paperback only to settle with a copy of the same book in a measly format merely because it matches the others in the series that they own; I, on the other hand, am always looking for the better copy of said book.

I've just finished reading the Honor Among Thieves trilogy and it was really good! It's surprisingly diverse with LGBT, gender fluid and polyamorous representation.
This was a crucial watch for me because it made me realize the Christmas gift I was missing for my husband: The Perfect Poo

I'm the same, I need to keep an author's books if I like the majority of their works but I just don't have the space so I'm starting to work my way through that

I like unhauls and dnf seties videos because it is nice to have someone else go through it and I feel so much less guilty and a sense of companionship especially whem youtube seems obsessed with finishing everything. And i know that feeling of questioning of whether it will a future favorite. But it wont matter if you get rid of it beause you will in all likelihhod never reaf them. Just continue to feel guilty.
I don’t purchase a lot of books 📚 at once I just buy what I’m going to read that is one ☝️ or two 2 booksso I don’t buy compulsively only for the need of buying!

Loved this video. I love seeing unhauls idk why but they’re satisfying. I didn’t really enjoy The Crown’s Game. I gave it a 3 star. It’s basically a dollar store Night Circus set in Russia. But if you do give it a try, I highly recommend ignoring book 2 exists. ❤

I have hardbacks of the starbound series that I will probably never get rid of because they're just so beautiful and some of the first hardbacks I ever got but I could see myself rereading them on whim one day because they're just a easy good time like you say

Good for you!💛 I think I've said this before in your last unhaul, but I'm so glad that The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner didn't get cut! I really think you are going to like the main character. He's a very misleading character, like when he's interacting with people he will hold back information from them on purpose to make them think something else. It's not usually done in a cruel way, it's more so that people underestimate his abilities. Later when you find out what he was holding back, it's quite amusing. I'm not 100% sure you will like Gen or the series because it is YA, but almost my entire family have read it and enjoyed it. My mom re-listened to it twice this year already. My sister and I have considered buying you the rest of the series, but I live in the US and I can't see everything on your Wishlist. It only lets me see things that ship to the US.
Yeah the Thief is one I'm still super excited about! I just haven't had a great reason to pick it up yet ha

Also I absolutely recommend The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green. It’s non fiction but I totally recommend the audiobook and it’s my favourite book of the year so far. A good listen if you need a pick me up

I want to unhaul a bunch of my books to make room for new ones and because I'm moving soon but I'm unsure of what to do with them as I've NEVER unhauled books before. Do you sell them or donate them to friends or charities? and how do you decide what to unhaul?
Wow that is a very large unhaul. But I loved watching it. If I did a book unhaul this large that would be most if not all of my books.. But I do need to do an unahul again here soon.

I did the same with the Gone series. I've had it so long. I tried to recently read them and I dnf them. I am still a lover of YA and Dystopian so I would say good call if you aren't.
I bought the Atlas Six in Waterstones when I was in London and that means I will never get rid of it lol so I get it. Though I did enjoy the Atlas Six.
Haha luckily I still have a special edition of Alice in Wonderland from New York and I'm going back next year but it was hard to let go of The Enemy regardless 😂

As a German, yeah it's Cornelia Funk-e (so you pronounce the e) and I didn't know the books were supposed to be middle grades xD We have them in our YA section and I loved the first one when I read it back in my teenage years but the books are massive in German so I never finished them 😂 but it's really beautifully written (at least in the original) and this magic world is just so fun, but dark at the same time, I was really afraid of some aspects of the story (and I was probably also one of the few who actually also liked the movie, even though it was very different from the book) xD but I always wanted to have the ability to bring books to life and read stuff into existing, it was just such a fascinating idea and so much that could go wrong (as shown in the books xD)
I read these in Polish as a kid and loved them 🥰 I never read the last one though, I think it was too long for me at that age 😅

I loved the Inkworld trilogy, but I don't think it will be for you since you don't read a lot of middle grade and it's a very slow series.
Also maybe unhaul A pinch of magic. Book one was good, but the rest of the series got worse and worse each book. I know others have loved it, but not sure if you will enjoy
Just going to mention how I buy my books, maybe something to ponder. I listen to audiobooks and get everything from the library. When I absolutely love a certain book I buy it for my birthday or reread it first and then buy it. So I only own books I absolutely love and will reread over and over again for years.
This is my strategy too! Partly because I’m a big library fan, and partly because otherwise I would probably end up bankrupt and drowning in books. But it also works well because I really like re-reading books (this year I counted, and about a third of my books logged were re-reads). I know some people prefer to always read new ones, so this might not work as well for you all.

I forced myself thru the Gone series by Michael Grant. It was good but way too long 😅 I feel like several of the middle books could not exist and the series wouldn’t be any different for it.

I've never bought a whole series at once. I don't understand the point. I don't know if I'm going to want to continue a series until I've read the first book, so I can't commit to the cost until I've read it. I don't tend to reread much either, so I don't really care if I'm missing a book from a series on my shelf.
While that makes sense, if I have a full series that I haven't read, I was either gifted them or they were secondhand
I don't generally just buy whole series full price because as you say, it's pointless

I loved Wicked and Son of a Witch ages ago, but Lion Among Men was awful. So much so that I've owned the 4th book for years now and am still afraid to read it. Doesn't help that I later tried After Alice and suddenly his writing was unbearable to me.

I really want to get into Robin Hobb but am a little scared about the animal violence you mentioned. Is it very graphic? Is it against puppies? Like how bad is it?
I would like to know this as well. It's pretty much the one thing I can't stand. Idk why authors have to jam it in.
I mean, seeing as the main characters ability is literally animal communication, I'm not sure of consider it "jammed".
Animals are an integral part of the series in various ways and so sad things happen to them, just like sad things happen to people.
It's not all violence and its not all graphic. One particularly graphic part I remember being a hunting scene so I wouldn't even say it was sad as it was narrated with a sense of attachment
The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne was pretty wild west-y, and read like it was aimed at way younger kids than I was expecting - definitely sounds like not your sort of thing.

I unhaul most of my books.
I considered trying Gone for a brief moment years ago, but then I found out about the criticism it's faced for its autism representation. A lot of the excerpts I was seeing seemed very dehumanizing, and the author has admitted to doing little to no research into autism before writing these books.
Edit/PS: Relate 100% to the sheer indecisiveness! 😂 Have several books myself that I'm like "I'm not going to get to them . . . but I might."
I love the Sookie Stackhouse series, but I get she isn't for everyone.
