    This is THE BEST info I've seen in a while. The best welders are repair welders; the ones who learn from mistakes. Good stuff 👏

    This is the real deal of a welding channel, teaching the proper hints and tips that really do save your ass when it comes to passing X-ray!!!!

    That was fine! The part at 6:21 "don't use the grinder" really cracked me up. I watched that segment several times already, that's something that comes up a lot. This is super valuable advice, how to not panic when things aren't working right.... For me this is pretty advanced information. You know you're at the right place when you run into Bob Moffatt!

    Nice bro I learned these techniques in the field as well and this information is priceless I was taught when I didn’t know and I’m a better welder for it so I pass it along to others who need it as well. I appreciate welders like yourself willing to share their skills, but in the end that’s what it’s all about making each other better 👊🏻 excellent

    Thanks, with very few exceptions yours is one of the few videos that shows how to correct these weld faults. Going to the hall tomorrow to practice these techniques. Thanks again.

    Hey man, awesome videos. I teach welding also here in Georgia. You are doing an amazing job. A couple things.. 1 where did you get your tig handle. I'd like you to talk about it. Also I think it would be great if you talked about tools of the trade that you think are essential and people starting out should get. And then what tools do you think are just nice to have and is not essential but you are happy you have them! Seriously, I wanna know about your tig handle! Looks badass

      I’m retired from welding and inspection don’t get nervous don’t think of it as a test just think of it as production weld. Do your best and if it doesn’t pass just go on to the next job it will get easier as you go.

    hey buddy one more question. when your coming off the tack , i know you heat it up, but do you start a key hole then put the filler in, or do you lay the filler on the tack then start it. i hope im making sense

  • @Ride_Ride_Ride
    @Ride_Ride_Ride 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve noticed when do restarts/tie-ins with rods on most videos you always strike 1 inch away, slowly coming back to your restart area and then weld over the flux. Have you ever had inclusion/porosity problems on x-ray or phased ray?

    i still got a few more questions, i dont forgot some of them.... when you put your tack on the bottom of the 5g, i know you didn't do it on the stainless, but on the 5g carbon there was a tack. so on the bottom tack do you back feed to get the tack in or kinda lay wire but still have the filler deep in the bevel. and when youdo back feed you keep the filler 9n the inside top of the gap or do you put in through some. thats why i wanted to talk to you over phone so i can ask these questions alot to type. i lo e ur vids by the way. i still got a few .ore questions.

      Leonard Pearlman I think so it can be kinda back feeding and rod will stay behind bevel and don't need to feed a lot . And try to look from little bit up like back feeding

    • @chrisholifield8571

      Stainless is a little different. It don't flow as well and you don't want to get it to hot or they will bust you for burning it

  • @tylerbishop6456
    @tylerbishop6456 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    A good way to fix a tight gap is to take a tiger disc and stick it straight into the bevel. Apply a little bit of pressure on the grinder and go back and forth. It will open the gap and won’t ruin the bevel

    Nice video, I have definitely ran into all of these since leaving school and in the field. One of my bigger struggles is controlling the amount of build up I get on my roots using Lay Wire. They always come out flush and I would perfer a 16th at least. Any advice dude? I still havent got comfortable enough to back feed that root lol

    • @phillipsolorio7379
      @phillipsolorio7379 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Boston SportsFan gotta turn the heat up and push that wire in. But the best way to do it if you wanna run a tight gap is keyhole like he shows

    • @DerrickFishes
      @DerrickFishes 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try front feeding. Leave that big gap like you were gonna back feed but position the wire like you're doing haywire and just put the wire slightly inside the pipe and touch the back of the puddle
