Lost media is so weird in the age of streaming. Licencing and rights for distribution get so strange, especially with the music within a show. I've started buying more DVDs for old shows in case they stop being available online or have the audio swaps.
I've been patiently waiting for them to put the complete series on DVD for 20 years now and will continue to do so. I overpaid for the only 2 DVD's they released ($100 for complete season 1 and $60 for TV favorites) and plan on getting the complete series on the day it's released. $100, $200, $500, I don't care, I just want to own the best TV show ever made and watch it whenever I want. And yes, I know that they said that it's unlikely that it will ever come out on DVD because of the music licensing, but they said that about the Wonder Years too and it eventually came out, so there's always a chance.
Good thing The Drew Carey Show airs on Syndication where I live, in fact a block of episodes is airing on tonight at 7 PM on the Philadelphia 'MyNetwork affiliate (17.2 for those who are smart enough to have an Over the Air broadcast antenna). So
That's a good question. I remember seeing it on tv all the time, seems like it was syndicated for reruns on several networks it was on so often, and then it just kind of went on the backburner and hasn't been seen online since then. Especially strange since Drew Carey himself is still on tv via Price Is Right 🤔
In 1996 I moved to Las Vegas. Shortly thereafter, one of the radio shows had Drew visit and they made it into some contest where a caller had to name characters on The Drew Carey show. Drew tried coaching the caller with "Think of a city....Saint...." I can't even recall the caller's dumb answer, but it was enough to get me to start watching the show;s o ridiculously funny.
I honestly assumed it had been streaming somewhere all the while, I guess I just never sought it out. Guess that explains why people are suddenly talking about it a lot on social media.
The show started as a bluecollar Friends pastiche and then lost its frigging mind. It was one of the few things from my childhood that I continued to enjoy through my chipontheshoulder moody teen years. If you listen closely, you'll hear in the canned laughter this guy who goes "heh-heh-heyyy". Take a shot whenever you hear that guy. Think I'll watch the show just to play that drinking game.
A well done video. Not too drawn out and pretty insightful. First time seeing this channel come across my suggestioned feed; I think I'll check out what else you've got 👍
I think they can still be proud of the sexual harassment lawsuit because it was a frivolous lawsuit for Drew won because he was right. Now the sexual harassessment arc with Mimi and Mr. Wick, not so much.
I think the only jokes that didn't age well were taking advantage of drunk women. Sexual harassment was wrong then and it is now. However, people still make sex jokes back then and still do today.
Loved it. Thought it said 2 days ago 1.1M views, and thought "that's about right" seeing the views? that's not right at all. I wish I VHS recorded Dinner and a Movie. Those bits of them talking plus the movie. the meals. I do have VHS recordings of The Box and Much Music The Wedge and other such old music video channels.
ah ok, music rights, that actually explains a lot. just like why only season 1 of Murphy Brown is on DVD and there's scattered clips of the show on TH-cam and stuff like compilations of the running gag of Murphy Brown's secretaries.
Upload those original epidodes somewhere. Id rather watch the intended music than some interns replacement. Shows like Supernatural and Scrubs streaming episodes suffered from having a bunch of their songs changed out due to licensing, im sure this is similar
You can find all nine seasons if you put in the effort. There are bootlegs out there. You just have to have some ambition. You can watch all nine seasons.... Just not legally. But its out there.
🤔i feel mixed. I wasn't really old enough to be watching this show in my house. But I recall seeing sneaking small bits of this and the Simpsons. and I remember it being aired on Fox at the time. Because I could recall this promo that said: 🎵BE A FOX WATCHER🎶 and I think on the line up was: The Nanny: 6pm, Drew Carey: 6:30pm, The Nanny: 7pm, The Simpsons: 7:30pm. I think for me one of the best parts of this show I liked were the music drops, I think that's one of the ways I learned of the existence of a lot of songs. I think I'm ok with watching stuff in lower quality recorded off of tv scattered all over, which was how i rediscovered this show a few years back. as well as just wondering what happened to this show after I ended up stumbling onto Whose Line Is It Anyway when I recognized Carey.
The show isn't found because of music licensing. They would have to pay for all the songs used in the episodes to be released on DVD. They use quite a bit of artist music in the show, too far to not pay royalties hard. I added this before I saw the rest of the episode sorry.
@@JakeBossMTG Awesome! I very much look forward to seeing what the future holds then. Big @josebird vibes if you're familiar with them. If not check out their sitcom vids on here.
You know I turn my TV on the other day it said Drew Carey show now streaming I'm excited as hell the streaming service does suck but it's been working so far for me and I have been binging random episodes not in order because this is one of my favorite shows growing up and I'm happy to see it back no matter the quality
It's also hypocritical of him to whine about the "problematic" things, while telling us it's stupid to whine about the music being ripped out. The thing he's whining about is much, much dumber.
I was so happy when I found out it was on Plex! Been binging since last Friday!

Didn't watch The Drew Carey Show very much when it was on in prime time on ABC-TV, but I nowadays occasionally watch it and love it on Antenna TV.

I’m glad it’s available to stream on Plex

Well it’s on Plex now!

Just got to the Batmobile myself, thanks for the video

The show was very unique. It felt almost like a British sitcom. Craig Fergerson's Mr. Wick was my favorite character.
Johnson, you're fired!

I have been watching on Plex, but Season 7 is missing first 3 episodes.
Season 4 episode 10... how did he get back from china ????
awe I like this video. I am literally watching the batmobile episode rn haha

Not sure if this is in the wrong spot, your plan for a rebrand of the channel, or something else entirely, but I like it.
I’m trying things! I’m still deciding whether it should be here or in a new channel. I’ve been working at this one for years on and off.

@FreshmakerLP I will!
God this is good
Time to buy some USB drives

The show also airs on Antenna TV, though on at 1:00am Eastern time.
Lol "problematic" that's the most pc way of saying something isn't pc.
