    Your idea about cradling the ball is exactly the kind of thing I needed to hear. I've been struggling with consistency on flicking the ball. I've been following the advice of most others, which is to hold down jump so my car stays with the ball, but it wasn't always working out. Now I also need to work on dribbling, but I think it's good enough at this point to be able to work on flicks so I can pull them off in a game. Anyway, I think your idea of cradling the ball is going to make a difference for me. I tend to only tap jump anyway so now I just need to work in the movements for the cradle.
    Great work Wayton! Keep it up, man!

    • @Calebanton
      @Calebanton 4 ปีที่แล้ว +103

      I mean, being consistent with them is pretty difficult. Anyone can dribble in soccer with 5 minutes of practice and shoot the ball decently. More of like a skill floor

    • @lleytonyang9207
      @lleytonyang9207 4 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      @@Calebanton Do you know what consistent means

    • @Calebanton
      @Calebanton 4 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      @@lleytonyang9207 I don't get what you're trying to say. Dribbling and the mechanics around it have a much higher skill floor to get a baseline consistency in rocket league. In soccer, you can get consistent faster, but your shots will be bad compared to a higher-level player. That's how a skill floor works

    • @lleytonyang9207
      @lleytonyang9207 4 ปีที่แล้ว +61

      Caleb1243 I disagree and I believe that getting CONSISTENT shots in soccer is so overlooked and people are always like “it’s just kicking a ball” when it’s really not. Obviously a person could kick a ball consistently but they couldn’t dribble with skill consistently in soccer.

    • @Calebanton
      @Calebanton 4 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      @@lleytonyang9207 I said the skill floor is high. I can go into a field and can dribble the ball downfield and kick it into the net 10/10 times with 0 practice. Not possible in rocket league, so rocket league has a higher skill floor

    subscribed because of this. Honestly its great to mechanically learn all of this in practice then when you fail without knowing why you just keep grinding till it becomes second nature. Actually learning what's going on and visually see these images are great. Truly will save you a lot of time as know you know what you did wrong. Wish this came out 3 months ago, awesome stuff!

    this is just missing "controller inputs" so we understand more how you do the craddling/flips to execute the flicks

    Big fan of the "cradle" terminology. That explained why I was messing up my flicks. Solid vid!

    Awesome. I really looked 10 long videos about flicks and dribbles but you explained it soooo good. There are huge and small infos that only you covered in this video. 100% recommendation and great editing. Thank you so much!

    • @MrThryler444
      @MrThryler444 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looked into your account and noticed that you don't have a air dribble guide. I really want to learn that mechanics and looked also dozens of videos about it but it is kind of random with the setup. If I randomly do the setup correctly I can pull off the air dribble mechanics and I think it is like it is with Flicks. Your key point the "cradle" was the one thing that boosted my flicks so hard. Maybe you can do a video like this one for air dribbles / ceiling shots or other mechanics as well

      For someone who has never touched a soccer ball, its way harder to dribble in soccer than in a video game.
