  • Thanks to ‪@Rikmonchann‬ for bringing out this 1995 Toyota Hilux Surf, which he purchased from Duncan Imports. Featuring the 3.0 Turbodiesel 1KZTE Engine and the charm of RHD. Nick mentioned that he feels safer driving on the right side of the road, and he doesn't like it when people call him "mailman".

@@Jdms13 haha it’s funny seeing people in America treating it like a rear collectors car. Bloody awesome trucks though

@@yolo2225 Very weird as its just a diesel 4runner.
The only diff between the two really is left vs right hand drive and the available diesel engine. That's it.
The 3rd gens (this is a 2nd not a 3rd) had a few more differences on the interior like the "Field Module" (Headliner mounted digital compass/outside temp/ tilt indicator/elevation and barometer) and the spoiler mounted mi9rror but that's it.
The channel listed IN the vid is wrong to. Its called Rikmonchan.
Dude stopped uploading a year before this video even came out...

I owe 95 1kz just like yours, but I’m in Kazakhstan. To be fair, I dont really get, why would you pay 12g for 2nd gen 4runner…
    - there is no options that surf has, that 4runner does not have
    - 1kz is not good on gas, prone to head cracking, fuel system is quite complicated, and super hard to diagnose. I would advice the owner to buy SPV valve and keep it as spare, as it can stop the car just in about any moment with no warning. I feel like 2nd gen 4runner with 3.4 swap is cheaper, better option and less headache with finding parts for it.
To be fair, it can be fun to mod this engine a lil. This engine responds very well to exhaust mods, get or make new dump pipe, install EGT gauge and crank the boos up to 14psi. You can make resistor mod as well ofter you install EGT gauge, you can crank up fuel and boost it will drive waaay faster then now, 4.88 gears on 33s is very good too, or you can get 4.56 gears off a junk yard 2nd gen 4x4 4runner, will help a alot with power on 33s, right now you have 4.10 gears. Get a lunch box locker, will make the world of a difference offroad, you will be amazed how good this thing is offroad with locker. 2nd gen lexus gs300 seats bolt right it, they are waay more comfortable too.
If we are talking about 3rd gen, then JDM surf had some cool unique features (compas, spoiler with mirror in the back, super cool instrument cluster etc.)
Dont want to sound like hater, I owe exact same car, but I picked it up because RHD diesel cars are not very desirable here therefore cheaper.

I’ll explain it like this. We’re American and we like things we can’t have. Would he be better served by a 5VZ 4Runner of the same year? Absolutely. You are thinking from the side of practicality only, which I like. However, that line of thinking is simply not at play here.
      Sincerely,
An American who would sell several expendable organs for a diesel Land Cruiser 70 series.

I got one from Duncan with 29k mi.
I like RHD in a slower vehicle because the idiots
who pass on the right are never in my blind spot.

I know the pain of having to source parts from overseas, I'm up around Tahoe and 90% of my parts come from Australia. Still can't find a dash to replace mt cracked one
