    The stalling may be an issue with Servo Interference if the End of the R1 AXE motor is too close to a Servo. The R2 versions have additional shielding.
    R1 users can use a Half dollar sticky taped to the end of the motor to add shielding, if they are experiencing issues.

    Hi, just to let you know that after watching your video and without being an expert but some one that oacscioally takes my RC and going play with my soon, I ended completely convinced that I should get the AXE system.
    I have read the other comments about fine tunning the Castle, but that is also kind for experts, I don't plan to spend so much time tunning and trying to get the system work better, but just install it, set it up for the first time and then play with it all the next other times.
    You say AXE is kind for experts but the way I see it, is perfect for me, as it seems to be easier to get it work better.
    Thaks for your review, I have a TRX-4 Defender and looking for some ESC/Motor upgrade for a while, now I am sure I have to get AXE 2300KV.

    I have an Axe combo myself. My only gripe is the mandatory drag brake. An option would be nice. As for it's crawling ability, I must say it is superb. The drag brake can be set from 50% to 200%. And the absolute golden silence, is its best feature. The gears in my TRX4 drown out any motor sounds that may be there. Since I can't stand that high pitch squeal. That sound that Holmes Revolver 14pole screams, driving nearby dogs, and me, absolutely crazy. Amen to that.

    one huge complaint for me about the AXE system is even with drag brake completely off the wheels don't free roll. If they made this a feature it would be a big improvement in my opinion. The mamba x has the nice ability to hook up that AUX wire and change whatever you want on the fly and I really like rockracer/crawler mode. However if I can get a free rolling feel from the axe I wouldn't mind using my app to change it even though it is still more cumbersome then the mamba x

    Have you tried tuning the mamba x with the settings john holmes shows in one of his videos? I tried it, and that enabled me to match the performance of the axe system when transitioning from uphill to downhill i.e coming over a crest and going down the other side. I can even get on throttle going downhill without it starting to freewheel.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh yeah I’ve done all the settings but the difference is the active hold of the axe vs relying on motor braking and gearing like the mamba x. I love the mamba x, I have about 5 of them in various scalers and usually run a lower drag brake setting so it’s not so abrupt, then use reverse to hold. Maybe I’ll get a chance to record again this weekend and if I do I’ll gear both systems down to 9t and just make it a braking test.

    One common thing with the Axe. If you don't run the esc motor mating procedure it will act wierd. ie Stalling Studdering and not running right. If you're having those issues with it be sure to run the self calibration / mating procedure. Power on once it goes through the beep codes hold the set button down for 3 seconds and it will start the process. Just make sure you have the motor out / transmission in neutral / or hold it up by the bumper. ( They do recommend having the motor out for it)

    But John has been trying to get Castle to use features the AXE has for many years. Tho , John doesn’t like 6-pole motors for his own reason.

      @@ExocagedRC From what I've learned from John is a 6-pole(brushless)and a 5-armature(brushed)has smoother start-up but you lose alot of Torque to a comparable 4-pole(BL)and 3-armature motor.
      He explained it and I somewhat understood. Best way I can dumb-it-down so I can retain it(haha)is when there's too many polarities going on in such a small space , they kind-of step on each other. Does that make sense?
      I've read Bob's(Astroflight owner , well , he passed away awhile ago)book on the theory and principles on electronic motors and I have many Astroflight Pullmaster 2, 3 and 4. I loved to talk to him on the phone and just pick his brain. Anyway , They have way more armatures and magnets than any rc motors around today and are extremely torquay....but they do get hot on the trail. John expained heat to me too....stronger magnets create heat , so you just can't throw a super strong magnets into a motor...there has to be a balance.
      The AXE doesn't have that "snap" because of the staggered poles but it helps start-up.

    I think an Axe vs X and 3Brothers RC Kratos Six. I think those two motors would be testing "apples to apples" as far as staggered magnet motors.
    Regardless....nice motor test.
    A Puller Pro vs Castle motor using an X would be a good comparison also.
    I've never had a Puller Pro or Revolver "creep" on me in first gear...they will in second but that's the way I have my X set-up.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. Yeah I can tell you the Kratos is strongest followed by castle and then the axe. The Axe motor could be limited by the esc and I’m tempted to see if it will run unsensored on a Mamba X for something in the future. The way the Axe applies power to hold vs just braking makes it better IMO, it holds best so long as the gearing is correct, you saw how it simply didn’t work in 2nd gear, the castle holds better in that situation. I have a revolver 1800kv and I’ve tested that in previous videos in the trx. I’d like to try the puller pro but just don’t have the funds right now to buy and test it.

      @tomlucasrccrawlers9108 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exocaged RC I'm in the process of testing the ACIS SIX staggered 6-pole non-sensored motor for 3Brothers RC. It's essentially the Kratos with no sensore board.
      They shutter but I haven’t had them(them...meaning two , the 1200 and 3000kv)stall...and even unsensored they aren't jumpy.
      I did a 3000kv test with the stock TRX4 11-tooth and it's up here on TH-cam. Tom Asher thought it was good , so he sent me an 8-tooth pinion to test it again.
      But I'm going to redo the 1200kv test before I put the 3000kv ACIS back in. The 3000kv seems to have just as much control as the 1200.
      Another great test would be a 1400kv Revolver vs the 1200kv ACIS SIX.
      My fund's aren't as big as they use to be now that I've retired but I'm comfortable. Just that I'm spending the extra $ on my wife dune buggy at the moment.

    Hi, may I ask You to do the similar review/comparison fo Mamba Monster X and HW Max8 in terms of monster truck? I have the e-revo 2.0 and I would like to change at least the ESC, maybe even ESC + motor but I am still wondering what will be better for bashing. I also need to keep in mind that my little Son is playing with e-revo so (as far as I know) MMX is a better choice because of a "max throttle adjustment" feature (or maybe Max8 also have it?) but I heard from people that HW has a better quality. What do You Guys think about MMX/HW quality?
