This is very good information! Thank you guys. Is Maui County different? The form says Honolulu County.

Thank you for this information. Do you know if you need to file for the long term rental exemption every year or just the first year?

If I have 2 properties that are $800,000 each, I would get taxed separately on each and not have to worry about the increased taxes >$1 Mil?

Another awesome video, thank you!! Curious if anyone knows:
      1. If you file the exemption by 9/30 is it a one time filing as long as it remains your primary?
      2. If you have a rental, but then later use it as your primary you would them file exemption by 9/30?
This community is awesome, appreciate in advance :)

At 7:03 it is stated that by September 30 of each year you need to file for the next year. My understanding is that you only file once?

Thank you for your PSA. I see that people who live in hawaii half the year, and another country the other half will be SOL. You need to occupy the hawaii principal res for 200 calendar days in a year.

Asking for a friend… If the purchased home is titled under a trust and not the trustee(s), do you list the trust’s name on the form? As always, your videos are really good! Thank you.

So this only pertains to people who claim homestead exemption in Hawaii...correct? Not part time owners like me who have out HE elsewhere

I think it's only the first year and one time filing and it's automatically yearly after, as long as you live in house?

I would like to move to Hawaii and buy a decent size home on the beach so I can walk out of my backyard onto the beach

There are not as many houses with beach frontage as you think on Oahu, it's going to be around 5 million dollars or so and up.

Crazy idea: get out in there in the community like how you did street interviews at Kaka’ako, and bless someone by paying their Property Taxes 💚 Would bless that ohana’s holiday season 🎅
