Here in 2024. 5+ years in with children’s and I am leaving. Can’t do it anymore. Enough is enough.

I don’t regret leaving last year. I couldn’t find an ASYE and ended up doing agency. Now I’m in a early help department. Simple and manageable

Please can you enlighten me, I have been trying to get into Early Help for the longest time and I am either not hired (as I would be useful on another team) or put forward for other roles. I do have statutory experience in different teams but it is time to move on. I no longer enjoy the job I do but yet enjoy working with people to help them achieve their goals. I'm also from the UK

Everything you said is 100% true in the United States right now in 2024. I'm 10 years into the profession, and I have yet to find any institution that is not worse than they were a decade ago, or even 4 years ago. They burn out everyone more than ever and never understand why their retention is bad.

I was a social worker for 21 years. I did my first 2 years in Child protection but then had to keep moving to different fields including disability, Fostering, and Asylum Seekers team. It helps to have good managers and regular supervision too to avoid being overloaded with work and burning out.

I have been qualified since 2021 and still haven’t done my ASYE. If I knew that there was so much politics involved I would have chosen to study Nursing. Limited opportunities to compete my ASYE.

@@youngblacksocialworker293 Nothing here. I applied for the GETS program in Hampshire they did not even reply. Just application denied.

I just feel like I wasted my time. A lot of shenanigans. I just decided I will just leave it. Try Parole officer or something working with young people.

@@DH-wl4jd I hope you have done the ASYE now. I just qualified and hope to find one soon.

@@florencelartey5736 sorry still haven't done it. I still don't understand how I applied three times with Hampshire and every time I was told my application was not successful. I gave up. I have applied again.

Thanks for the video. Could you please do a video on working for an agency and being a permanent staff?
