Iv had a few of these in this motor/chassis including the '18 with EFI. I think its based off the 1995 platform still but still the same motor/suspension and reliability. The BEST power mod for cheap on these is sprockets. AT LEAST swap the front to a 13t for street riding. I had 14/48 with a 100-100 Kenda Trakmaster and it was great for fast trail riding and general exploring, plenty of power. Im going to look for '06-07 this winter for a project to tinker with clean up, for another dual sport since Im so familiar with them and have a KDX sorted out for my enduro rides.

Nice video and great review of the KLX. I'm a bit biased toward the KLR.....probalby b/c I have an '86 KLR 600. They are excellent for exploring back roads and discovered trails. I like the quietness of the engine as you can enjoy nature without an overbearing loud exhaust.

Hiii, im about to check out a used old KLX250, i think almost like yours except it look like benn parked for a very long time, speedo not working and small leak in radiator. Seing your bike so mint, is the spare parts such ass the plastics, switches, electronics, engine parts still available? Yours a beauty

I've never had to buy anything for that bike. But they are probably plenty of parts out there. It was a popular bike.

The engine is not the same. Suzuki and Kawasaki got together in the beginning of the century and pooled engineering and production resources to come out with new 250s and 400s. Oddly, at least on the American market, the Suzuki 250 flopped where the Kawi 400 flopped even though they were virtually identical. Weird. The Suzi 400 is still alive as the DRZ and the Kawi 250 was just reintroduced a couple few years ago. The new one is mostly the same plus fuel injection. Nice score sir. Should last you another 20 years.

Now if only Suzuki could add EFI to the DRZ400...

6'-3" or about 190 cm. I can easily put both feet on the ground.
