  • Time to make a service and some repairs for the former taxi. This is a Mercedes-Benz E-Class W212 E220 9G-Tronic estate with 570.000 kilometer driven. Already much have been done and the car feel so much better then when I got it from the seller!

Removing the front bumper for parking sensor change, the fault code reader told me the left middle sensor was broken. But I did change the sensor and unfortunately still not works. Both front and rear parking sensors are in working condition but I still get the following fault codes.
    (B124914) (U110100) (U112B00)
    03:18
    Diesel fuel filter change
    04:28
    Engine air filter change
    05:16
Found these open cables and repaired them with shrink hose. Six cables was totally exposed, so really glad I found this in time.
    05:55
Engine oil change. Oil change was really needed it was overdue by 3600 km. But it was still 135 days left. The service is 25000 km / 1 year what ever occur first.

The soft close drive motor had capitulated when I got the car, after all it had been used as a taxi so it's not so strange it did give up. This is actually really easy to replace for a new drive with motor, or if you could locate the actual motor inside is possible to replace it. The motor is similar to the one used for ELV lock. But I could not locate it.

W212 uses W124 and W201 parts. Wow. That was something I did not expect 😲

Agreed, after all the well executed mechanical work, would really love to have seen how well it could have been cleaned up.

So satisfying. This summer I bought a w211 with only 150.000 km and im doing all the maintenance by myself!! Next car will be a w204 coupe!

Actually you don’t need a fault code reader. Use the (hack) at 2:48 to check if the sensors are working!

I was reading up on getting a used W212 former Taxi with many km and apparently it is not such a bad choice. The often have full service books and i think the risk of buying a used car is often the same. And your videos make me really wanting to go for it. I have acces to a workshop where i could do some of these things myself so it is really quite encouraging.
You have a history in working on cars or is it mor of a hobby?
Thank you for these great videos.

    • @MB212
      @MB212  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I would say go for it! I was really lucky with this and got it for 8500 euro usually is 17.000 euro for same with low kilometer. I owned a 2015 year with 150.000 kilometer and to be honest that had about the same feeling as this one with 570.000 kilometer, so is not only about the kilometer. Most thing still feels solid and good on this. Some minor repairs so far.
This is hobby and I learn as I go!

@@MB212 Thak you for the encouraging response.
I have found many models on the german market for far less. Some of them are older models like 2011 but that would also be good. I want the 7G o 9Gtronic.
But there are still other options to choose from. I will see how it goes. If i go for th W212 I will surely let some feedback on your videos letting you know and showing gratitude on how it went 💪🏼

I wonder how you managed to put in the air filter so easily. Mine was huge pain and I thought maybe its wrong diameter or something because it required a lot of force.

That oil really needed changing. You would never have gotten all the oil
out if you went to a quick-change oil place.

Not really, diesel oil looks always bad when changing it..
