2017 Total Solar Eclipse - Greenville, SC

- I was at a loss for words... obviously. Totality looks much brighter and thicker here than it did in person but I think we captured the energy of the moment. Unbelievable (as I say about 50 times!)
Imagine 5000 years ago the panic this would have caused
Thats what im thinking too, they thought this beautiful total eclipse was a disaster haha
RonVenture PH
People would have sacrificed virgins
rf4life
True but your average tribe in the amazon or Congo probably freaked out.
The Bronze Age savages of the Abrahamic religions were pretty ignorant. When you believe bats are birds, whales are fish, displaying striped patterns to cows would produce striped offspring and, all the other silly dietary, ritualistic and primitive beliefs, they pretty much were in panic mode when these occurred!
Its 2020🤦
People 5000 years ago : Screaming
People 5000 years later : Screaming
lol 😂
😂
ok
it's an amazing event :)
People still dumb as 5000 years ago lol
Could you imagine all the people cheering, and all of a sudden it remains dark with no sunlight?
Suddenly laughter turns into screams.
Wow... yeah that would be Terrifying!
Then you see a green laser being power up
Like the eclipse from berserk
Then everyone will stop screaming and clapping 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Sun & Moon: “Thank you so much!”
SUN I WILL BECOME A RED GIANT AND SWALLOW YOU MOON NO
*takes a bow*
Arrivederci👋🏻
Curious how this event proves they're the same relative size per the laws of perspective. 🤔
This video made me realize NOT to be in a public place during the eclipse. People screaming and hooting really kills the "majesty" of the moment
thank you, totally kills the mood
Would you rather watch sports in an empty stadium too?
j/k to each their own :)
Depends on where you are. In 2017 for this one I was in Carbondale IL on a beach on Cedar Lake. Pretty decent crowd and ppl just took it in and didn’t cheer until after. But even if they did I think the moment itself was cool enough and I was so immersed in it I’m not sure I would have even cared.
FACTS 💯 I will be riding my bike🚲out on a bikepath in Northern Ohio at 3 on April 8 when it happens away from people and it will most likely be cloudy lol.
It makes me imagine being in some tribe 10,000 years ago watching it happen. Probably the same kind of noises/energy in the crowd
I still remember the way the air felt different during this moment… eerie but amazing
Uhh yea cause you lose about 20 degrees immediately…
@@Postal0nelol
@Postal0ne no you don't, greenhouse gas is a thing
@@PRKLGamingYou know that sunlight has an immediate effect on atmospheric temperature
@@SoloLevellor yes but not 20 degrees
A truly beautiful display of us humans gathering together to admire how beautiful our universe really is. can't WAIT for the 8th of April.
for those of us who saw the beauty
there is no describing it !!
Definitely something that has to be experienced. :)
Yes... it was amazing
I was there in Greenville S.C. I drove all the way from Greenville N.C.
I was In Georgia, in the path of totality. It was unbelievable and awesome to witness. Where I was at was just like this. People were going nuts, screaming and applauding. The power of God is amazing.
Same, I definitely teared up
Can't believe how much I took this for granted back then.
It’s my dream to be astronaut leave this stupid planet and go to the moon and then to mars
Ikr
@@daviroza4700 This planet is not stupid, it’s mother nature
Anyone watching this to get psyched for the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse?
queria poder ver um eclipse total no brasil
I was watching to see if it's going to be worth catching on film, if it looks different in person, I'm just going to shut the camera off, enjoy it, and then redirect people to this video and say videos don't do it justice but this guy recorded it which is close enough lol
I sure am, i live in the line of totality in the Montreal area, got my glasses on standby lol
Yup
I've already seen an eclipse and it's nothing special....y'all ppl need to grow up.....the sun not giving light and the moon as blood red is the one you need to worry Abt!
I saw this from Salem, OR and it was an amazing experience. It seems like photos and videos simply can't do it justice. I 100% recommend anyone reading this plan to see the next one in the US in 2024.
I was in Salem too! At Minto-Brown Island Park. Totally changed my life!
I used to live in Salem Oregon and now I live in Temple Texas. We are supposed to have a full eclipse on April 8th 2024 here in Texas!!
April 8, 2024 it’s going to be a total eclipse here in NY
@@ericaengram2280 Same in Indianapolis Indiana
Suddenly I thought how I miss this when Iam in my hometown Salem in tamilnadu.
One of the best vids of solar eclipse.
Those zoom ins from the other vids really kills the mood watching solar eclipses
I agree. So many of the videos zoom in on the sun and moon. He picked the best angle to show everything :)
By far one of the best videos of the 2017 eclipse ever. ❤ thank you
Love this video. The same energy was felt in Carbondale, IL, where I witnessed this spectacular event. Definitely the most awesome cosmic event I've ever experienced.
Yep I live in Marion and It was amazing!
lucky you will get to see it again in carbondale in a few years
Carbondale is getting the next one, in 2024. It will be nearly 5 minutes long.
Wasn't That the longest area to be? I drove down to Farragut TN for totality. 2024 it'll be in my backyard in NE Ohio.
Being less than 3 weeks until the 2024 event, I’m so excited to see my first total solar eclipse!
Depends where you live will be able to see total eclipse
Same here
I was on the rooftop of a building in NYC and watched it from there. Definitely a cool moment of time to experience. The sky was clear, I’m hoping for the same tomorrow. Happy viewing everyone!
Does anyone know if this person shot this on their phone? wanting directions to do the same tomorrow
@@adityakulkarniiinot sure but unlikely. my phone couldn’t catch it for crap last time.
@@adityakulkarniii this was done with a GoPro. Unfortunately the image of the sun just appears as a small star, but in person it’s actually the ring of the corona just like you see in professional images. Amazing and beautiful beyond words (as evident in this video lol)
How was the viewing?
Being in the totality zone for the April 8th solar eclipse this makes me so excited I will be experiencing this.
I will be in the totality zone in Mexico too! ❤
You are gonna love it!!! It’s so amazing!
So jealous. Here in New York City it will be partial, but in upstate New York at Niagara falls, it will be total. 6 hour drive
@@nenaj1it would be worth the drive. Call in sick! Start faking feeling ill on Friday. 😅
im gonna do the drive lol@@nenaj1
I got this recommended to me the day of the eclipse on Monday, April 8th, 2024. Anyone else?
Me
No, I went straight to it
The way everyone is cheering for the moon. This is so cute. So human.
Its weird as fuck😂
@@rd_0939 it’s actually super cool
The moon is awesome 🌛
@@jmhayes7407 I love it!
Thanks so much for posting this! I just got chills watching it. I'm literally trembling. I was just a few hundred feet away from you sitting on the edge of the waterfall at Falls Park looking towards the bridge. One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
einaf639 It was so unbelievable!! What a great spot you had, too.
what? that was THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING !
I was in Columbia on the Statehouse grounds when totality happened. I remember how surreal it felt, the Cicadas were chirping and making their noise as if it were already night time. And the way the temperature suddenly dropped. Also remember the sunset/sunrise phenomenon in every direction. But what struck me was the sense of how an eclipse seems to point to a divine order for us as a human species, for us to be here on this planet in its long history when the moon is just close enough to this planet to literally cover the sun in all but the corona. A few million years ago the moon was close enough to completely black it out. Another million years and it won't cover the complete disk anymore. I truly felt humbled to see it, and I pray to live long enough to see another one in my lifetime.
I didn’t get to see the total part of this one only the partial but I will get to see the total 2024 one there’s a place near my house I plan to go to see it
I pray I get to see ONE.
Omg! I was in Columbia as well but in the parking lot of Columbiana Centre
It's about a billion years not a million
There was no chance of hearing anything in this video. Need to be away from people to get the full experience. People ruin EVERYTHING!
Seek that in person was one of the most powerful, awe-inspiring things I have ever experienced.
Anyone watching it today april, 8 2024?
I am but I’m seeing the partial one🥺
literally in tears! awesome video!!!
I was just saying I cannot believe it's been only 1 week since the most awesome experience of my life, I got chills all over again watching your video! I had decided to search for pics/videos and yours is absolutely amazing!!! Shared with my daughter in Wisconsin, she didn't get to see it. Thank you!!
We are closer to 2024 eclipse than time passed since 2017 eclispe
And now is closer to April eclipse than the October eclipse
Reminder @@onedollasnake
Meanwhile in Lunar eclipse
*everyone watching the moon*
The moon: ... 0_0 .... U//w//U *blushes*
An awesome experience to have! Only the firebenders would hate this 😂
You captured the appearance of Mercury and Mars very well as it was reaching totality. Mercury appears at 0:24 to the lower left of the sun, and Mars at 1:02 to the upper-left.
I was wondering what planets they were. This solar eclipse was incredible. The temperature dropped!
@@lilianamillan356 It was! Time to start preparing for April 8, 2024 when the US will get another total solar eclipse only 7 years later (the last one for decades, if I recall right)!
What was to the right?
@@straight2dapointD I want to say that was a star. It definitely wasn't in the right position to be another planet. I remember hearing which star it was at the time. If I recall correctly, it was Aldebaran.
dacypher22 Thanks, sadly I’m never in the right place to witness an eclipse .
Im here in 2024 waiting for the April 8th Total in NH....and OMFG I'll probably cry! Im soooooo excited!!!! The excitement and passion in the background was touching.
I got a hat, a shirt, a telescope lens, a phone lens, 70 glasses to hand out... Yo, I'm ready! Your video was so magical, got me wicked stoked! So, thanks 🤜🤛 -Sadie
I saw it in Sumter, SC. It was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced.
Hey I saw it there too.
So weird seeing all those people together now that it's 2020.
I miss the normal world.

The sun and moon: did you like our performance
The light that made this so spectacular had all been discharged into space before this video even began to be taken. Eight minutes, you know.
I’m watching it through a screen and it was incredible to see, can’t imagine seeing it in real life
Carbondale residents are the luckiest. They won't have to wait another 400 years for another total eclipse to pass their way. There's one coming in April of 2024!
The atmosphere around the crowds was just as incredible as the sun itself. 360 sunset everywhere you looked at the horizon, temp dropped a bit, even suddenly there were no birds chirping or depending where you live the evening birds starting singing briefly.
My family and I saw this in Columbia, Missouri, but we had quite a bit more cloud cover (I shared live too). It was still spectacular, but I bet seeing it with clear skies was incredible! Thank you for sharing live.
@ 3:25 "Here comes the sun...do do do do"
I was with my family and well away from the crowds when this took place. I was in totality in central Ohio and uploaded my video. I was blessed to see both the 2017 and 24 eclipses in totality.
2017 was an absolute solace as well and I'm blessed that technology in just 7 years has brought us all together to experience one of the earths most amazing phenomenons. Thank you ❤ again.
We were there! Definitely the best viewing site in the entire Southeast. And possibly the WHOLE COUNTRY!!
What us really cool is the fact that when this happens, you can see the planets too.
You can see Venus and what I assume is Mercury, as well as Mars because it looks red, and Jupiter was visible as well.
April 2024 will be watching TOTALITY in TEXAS
Lucky you. I live in California and won't see totality. Enjoy for me too 🥲
2:54 That is so cool, Dad❤
I live in California it sucks I won’t be able to see it on April 8th 2024. I think California has like 64% totality so nothing much 😭. I guess I’ll be watching the total Solar Eclipse online..darn! To me it’s definitely not worth traveling because all the states with 100% are declaring state of emergency due to influx of visitors. Plus I’d rather watch somewhere quiet tbh, this video had too many people screaming lol. I’ll still stock up on food and water since on the News that’s what they’re saying everyone should do just in case. In case of what? I really don’t know 😅❤ everyone stay safe out there if you’re traveling to see it!
3:56 the kid removes his glasses and stares directly into the sun, bold asf.
I, too, was in Greenville (SC) during that eclipse and that was exactly the way it looked like to. What was truly entertaining was seeing elderly women in the 80's (If not 90's) wearing solar eclipse glasses so they can watch the eclipse. Seriously, the corona was lavender in color and it was the prettiest shade of purple I saw in a while
I’ll be experiencing it in 2024 from Texas!! Can’t wait
You are the only video uploaded of the total eclipse! thanks!!! A lot of ppl want to see this.
I wish my husband has the enthusiasm as your so my child can have these experience with him. 😂
Revisiting this memory. I was in Hopkinsville Kentucky for it. Now in April 2024 it will happen again 😊 It took 5 hours to drive to it and 19 hours to get back because of the traffic lol
an actual video of eclipse, instead of just talking about it. Good.
The slow transition into total darkness is so cool, like the ground is black and the sky is still blue, that is so cool.
Wow! What a video! Can you imagine that it was possible, that in 2017 a man could say "Oh-my-gosh" 2017 times in less than 5 minutes? Unbelievable!
1:16 yess man , holy shit, absolutely thats how it feels.
I don't think I've ever screamed so loud in my life outside of this moment haha
The power of GOD and His creation. One of many kinds. LORD JESUS, you are beyond words of fascinations. Thank you for your creations.
@Sir Soy Gato the Second No. Bro. That would be a very narrow and boring way of looking at things. God is infinitely far greater than just time and rocks and space dust. This is only one out of trillions of things that He has created and done.
I only saw a partial but I was tearing up at work so I had to hold it in. I can't imagine a seeing a full one.
I am driving from Florida to Ohio with my family next week but I want to go somewhere remote to listen to how nature and animals respond I’m not a fan of the loud chaos of so many people.
You people were so lucky. I'm in San Diego and all we had was a stupid partial eclipse like always.
In in San Diego too. It was the 1st day of school too so we didn't see too much.
Out of all the videos on youtube of the 2017 eclipse yours is the best. And yes, Glory be to God! I saw the last one in Columbia, SC, and I'm so excited that the next one is less than a week and a half away. I'm travelling all the way up to the Canadian border to see it 😎
It's funny how hard it is to capture on video.
In person.....it's a whole other experience.
While the actual totality was beyond cool......the most incredible moment for me was JUUUUST before totality.
When there was only a tiny pin prick of sun left.....so small, yet SUPER bright. Looked like a white hot LED just floating in the sky. Very bizarre...and very very cool. :)
Live in Cleveland, OH. Can’t wait to see this on Monday.
I remembered seeing it it was amazing can't wait til the next one
the next one will be on April 8 2024

I wander how many ppl took the time to thank God for allowing us to experience your amazing work. Without you none of this is possible!!!!! Do ppl realize you placed us in the perfect spot in this solar system. For you to still love us while a lot of us take you for granted!!!!
Coming up on a year .. I didn't share this day with anyone .. Just my two dogs . I am in Anderson County and 1.5 miles from dead center . So it lasted a few seconds longer . Even the time leading up to it was awesome .. The amber sky . everything glowed yellow .. Until boom ! Running around the back yard and marveling at the sun , watching the dogs .. It was a once in a lifetime experience
Not me Watching this one night prior to the one in Indy … from Indy lol
Imagine the same experience with the 2 kids shutting the fuck up.. wow !
I experienced it in 2017 but wasn’t in the path of totality. My 6th grade teacher had us make those cereal box viewer things where you would make a hole and you could see the shadow of it. We couldn’t really see much but it definitely was a nice experience how our teacher didn’t make us do work and wanted us to experience it. That was 7 years ago now I’m about to graduate HS and I’m going to be able to experience it as I’m in the path of totality this time. Real excited for it
Stayed home from school just to watch the eclipse! Good times.
"I was at a loss for words" I mean, 80% of it was "woooo".
Why do I get the feeling just looking at this thru a phone w the naked eye , isn't safe neither?
I will see it in Niagara falls Canada on April 8 inshallah 😁
The people screaming are the same people that clap when the plane lands.
has this guy ever seen the sunset or the sunrise 😅
This is a moment in history
Great video! I only saw 75% eclipse in Dallas. I was amazed how dark it got and how quickly the change happened.
Great video! I was in Nashville. Started great but clouds rolled in maybe 60-90 seconds after totality....but we did get to see it. Absolutely spectacular and as great a video as this is, it can't capture the way the eclipse looks. Mind blowing.
Lol everyones screaming like its the endnof the world 🤣 this is a great video tho ..
It's cheering. If you ever get a chance to see a total eclipse... do it! I saw this one in Kentucky. It was my first and one of the (if not THE) coolest thing I have ever seen.
Yeah makes it hard to watch the video. I was at my place in Columbia at the time with a few select folks. Much quieter and more enjoyable.
@@wukk1333 stop being so annoying tf

Without the lights on it was more spectacular, beautiful
Just to let you know seeing it in a video and in person is not the same there is a crazy corona light and weird motions going on with it you can't capture with a camera
Can’t wait for 2024!
Exciting stuff...🤘🏼💯✔️ I'm ready for mine, I'll be in the path of totality in Swayzee, Indiana on April 8th, 2024...👌🏼
That's next Patrick, Indiana, isn't it? Just east of it.

So unlucky that I live in the UK. A total solar eclipse is not until 2090 and the April 8 partial eclipse is not even visible from most of the UK
Spain has two coming up in 2026 and 2027.
THREE DAYS AWAY
Great job! That was awesome!
So glad you're doing this, cause I can't even see a partial eclipse through the rain clouds here in Costa Rica.
Couldn't see the moon before or afterwards, very weird
Bitz: WOW! This is cool! Bob: YEAH! This is Beautiful!
Mercury and mars looks more amazing😍
I love it, the light you see in the backround is the light thats not in the circle of the shadow, thats why it doesnt look completly dark
To not believe in my God after seeing this… unbelievable
What about science?
Very cool! Surely all of you are preparing for April 8th!
Ain’t nothing happening on april 8 but a solar eclipse

It was awesome, unbelievable, OMG, holy shit
I was in Madras Oregon for this. You had perfect weather.
What a zoo! Luckily we watched behind a private lake resort. While everyone was out watching from their boats, I was getting photos near the clubhouse with my tripod. No one was there to bother us!
I agree; save the hootin' and hollerin' for New Year's Eve in Times Square. I avoided the cities the path of totality passed over and scoped out a nice quiet farm outside of Sumter, South Carolina to view it. What an amazing experience!
I can agree I watched from the comfort of my grandparents farm. Along with the cows and hogs.
Jay G. Plus thats what rich people do lmao they use their fancy stuff.
What a douche!
Excuse me sir but I’ll need my name back
If you're quiet it's total silence because it confusing to the animals even the birds
