Part of that "Crime is my sentence" rap is reused in Fall Away on the self titled album! Also, it's interesting to see how much of Tyler's Christian struggle is symbolized by water. Most notably is in this song and in Addict with a Pen.
_"You see a man free who thinks he has to buy a key_ _To a door but he can’t ‘cause he’s poor and he can’t_ _Fall down anymore ‘cause he’s already on the floor"_ That part is Powerful
I always interpret the sky/ocean metaphor as when he is in his darkest place he can’t tell right from wrong (where ocean stops and sky begins) but sometimes random chunks of light will strike and bring clarity. But these moments are brief
It's beautiful to see the credits and read Tyler's name 10 times, that man is a genius without a doubt, this song must have been written when he was about 18 years old. And it has a reference to 9 Crimes by Damien Rice that he later did a wonderful cover on BBC Radio, then you can also react to it!!! And much of the lyrics in verse 2 is also verse 2 of Fall Away
I love when he he says “you see a man , free, who thinks he has to by a key to a door, but he can’t because he is poor.” It reminds me that We are free because of the sacrifice that God made, but we don’t deserve this free gift that costed so much. That’s Grace.
This is the best album! I love all his albums! This man couldn’t write a bad song if he tried, but nothing touches No Phun Intended! HE WAS ONLY 17!!!!!! How in the world can a 17 year old boy write those lyrics! I’m almost 50 years old and this is my favorite album of all times! I love music! My family is very very musical! I was raised with music! All kinds of amazing music and this is my absolute favorite!!!! Thank you for reacting to it! You have a lot of wisdom, great video!
I've been watching your TOP reactions from the start. I can't believe it took this long to reach Drown! This is one of my all time favorites from Tyler. Love it
dont know why but TB saga is such an inspaation to me, listening to a man whos in such a low, deep and unpleasant place finding happiness and "goofing around" with his friends is just heartwarming.
I’m really shocked how quickly you understand the first few lines of the song. You totally right. My church always used to say that every time you sin it’s like killing god
I think it was self harm that was the sin he couldn't stay away from. TLDR (No, I mean this is LOOOOOOONNNNGGG....) I ended up writing this down just for myself. Not in a million years of this app could I ever envision another human actually reading this to the end! Ain't no way! •TW•TW•TW•(!) •Because• Tyler was an athlete, and he was often wearing his b-ball threads, he had to conceal the marks well. Think about a high school basketball uniform. It's a long loose tank with huge arm-holes and long-ass shorts that probably, on Tyler, ended at about mid to lower kneecap. So, his available real estate would have been his belly, chest, sides, his groin, which is particularly dangerous, and his thighs, feet, ankles. I know that one piece of footage of he and Josh playing the Basement, both shirtless, where he is mic'ed at just below nip-level. Its a peculiarly wide band of elastic and I have always wondered why so high? Any other shirtless dude, who is required to be wired, would most likely wear it at waist to hip level, flush with the top of his jeans. But there's Tyler, with this 2-4inch wide black band girding his chest, just below his smol pectorals. And that was when I knew that the stories about him harming on his sides, or over his heart were probable. Not definite, just definitely a possibility. And I know his tatts are private and people try to respect his privacy about them, but when I first saw those black bands, up and down his arms, I remembered hearing about 'misery bands'. (paraphrase: want these marks to mean something to me again) Also, of course, we all know that at least one or both of the wristbands were there to replace the rubber bands that he previously wore, the same ones anyone wears to retrain a brain's neural paths when trying to break a bad habit. Lastly, to support my argument, I bring the evidence of the lyrics to the rap for 'fake you out' (I think). He speaks of his dirtydirty 'crimes', just like the nine crimes to which he refers in this song. And it's not 9 crimes of infidelity to a girl, I think its infidelity to an oath. One could argue that all sins of the flesh are equally carnal and profane, but I would think that there are a specific few possibly worse than others. (For example: practicing pederasty, physically hurting others, especially those unable or unequal to their own defense and.. self-harm). I think most of us, especially as teens, probably had maybe chronic masturbation and (p)orn habits, possibly chronic alcohol and drug habits, possibly promiscuity, likely, a lot of lying..those might be the extent of a problem with a series of broken promises between one's self and one's god. However, I also think Tyler is the best of us, with maybe the biggest burdens to bear, to even out his enormous gifts, and to call him to his purpose on this earth, so there's no way he would get off that easy. I believe that he believes that he was put here to do exactly what he has done. Which was to save all of our questionably valuable necks. And to not allow him to realize, until it was much too late, that he was locked into an untenable contract defeating his own agency in any choice pertaining to the taking of his own life. Neon gravestones or no, there's not a single lyric that could ever get him off of God's hook, and we know it and he knows it. I think the devastation, the repercussions, the utter complete betrayal, chaos, trauma, tragedy of this specific celebrity committing that specific crime? The effects on the millions of kids that follow or did follow, that felt 'saved', that attribute their continued survival to this man, to this band, to these songs, these lyrics..I think it would be deafening, unthinkable, stunning to not just those kids! Think about all the parents and family members who have bonded with their kids, who had been so distant! And this! This music was the life-rope thrown to these children caught in these riptides, pulled under by dark currents..those families who had the band to thank for bringing back their sons and daughters who had been so lost they couldn't find their way back to them! Those families would curse his soul for a thousand lifetimes! •He• would curse his own soul for a thousand thousand lifetimes.. Ya, god got him good. Which can only mean that this really •is• his Purpose and his true Calling.. and, yes, he is just a human dude, and he is a father and a husband, a brother and a son..but, even more than all of that, which is more than most! He, Tyler, is •really• that angel God has sent to us, in order to save our lives. He's the friend we need when we have no one, he's the voice of one who's been there, who really knows what we are facing in the night. And we know that he could never betray us that way, because he loves us too much. Tyler and through Tyler, Tyler's God. Because I don't know any other divinity who's made this level of effort to prevent me from making permanent decisions like that one..and has succeeded, time and again in keeping me from 'sending out the faulty parts', so to speak. Because of the kabillion little nuggets of wisdom just like the above, that I have salted away against those long, dark nights of the soul. Because I had the music to turn to when I found myself in that labyrinth of unanswerable self-hatred cause and effect equations, where previously I had had no where to turn to find a way out of that maze! The Force of Tyler's Jedi-bonding with each of us individually, which seems impossible, but for some reason, isn't and in no way diminishes with the ever increasing number of us (I speak of those in the past who have been helped, in addition to every new twelve year old who discovers them when he needs them..or like me, every new forty and fifty year old who needs them, then suddenly discovers them in their darkest moments)..this power could only be a boon that accompanies an assignment of this magnitude. Alright, I think that's the main points of my position. Since I am speaking solely to myself, good job, Suki! You read to the end. Now that is commitment. Muchlove to all and sundry, in and outside of this community, my wishes for your best days now and tomorrow. My thanks to Tyler and Josh for never stooping to accommodate any ceiling, but instead demanding that the rooms grow taller.
Two years later but I read to the end. And it was beautiful. I'm one of those Mom's. It's hard to put into words the heartache of waking up every morning and wondering if today is the day you will find your precious child not breathing. We had some rough years and she basically used TOP'S music to communicate to me what she was feeling when she couldn't find the words. I became a huge fan as well and we were able to bond over the music. We took her to her first concert two days after her fourteenth birthday. It just happened to be the first show of the Bandito Tour. The pandemic years were really tough for us and we were struggling in our relationship. But God got us through and she's in a really good place now. We are stoked about the new album because it just feels right. There is a victory vibe and it feels full circle for us. Just wanted to share because your comment was so well thought out and may have made cry a little. 😊
that last rap verse might sound familiar to you - he used it again in Fall Away in their Self Titled album this is probably my fav from No Phun Intended
Just so you know, I think some of those lyrics were incorrect. Granted, there's no official release of lyrics for this songs, but just by listening, this sounds more correct in the first verse: "Fall down anymore cause he's already on the floor And his fall is broken and all and this is his call But it's more of a cry cause he will try nine times..."
Great review. I see the part of the ocean and sky as Tyler sees his life dark and everything looks the same at some point. But the lightning that comes from the sky like rain is a small way he can distinguish between the water and sky. The light is sometimes fleeting and does not last long enough so he falls back to his sins. The lightning is Gods way of showing him to come back to the truth and the right way.
Love Tyler music so much BUT tbh not fan of every single song. I love like 98% songs. Like this song, it's been at the bottom of my list. BUT THEN TODAY HAPPENED. I think i changed my mind. The lyrics more powerful than i realized.
How heavy it must be to feel this weight as a child in Christianity. I feel terrines for the pain he has been through. I wasn’t raised in that faith and don’t believe in it now. It blows my mind to carry that guilt for something you didn’t do. No ophense intended.
I always thought that the ocean represtens his life and the sky represents heaven/God. Hes Been told by God that He should Win his life, so basically liv it without sinning id say. Idk, maybe I think like that because in German the Words "sky" and "heaven" only got one Transalation that stands for both
Part of that "Crime is my sentence" rap is reused in Fall Away on the self titled album!
Also, it's interesting to see how much of Tyler's Christian struggle is symbolized by water. Most notably is in this song and in Addict with a Pen.
Yes good point
The second verse in this song is also the second verse in fall away! another great one from No Phun Intended is Taken By Sleep :)!

_To a door but he can’t ‘cause he’s poor and he can’t_

Just for clearance, it’s pronounced “no fun intended” but it’s just spelt like “pun” with an “h”. That’s the pun.
No phun intended
Ah! Dang it, it was 50/50 lol and I went with pun 😂
It's beautiful to see the credits and read Tyler's name 10 times, that man is a genius without a doubt, this song must have been written when he was about 18 years old. he was 17-18 when he wrote and recorded no phun intended :) so crazy that he had this much talent already
@@tinyleafkid3236 exactly, he is a genius 🛐
I remember crying so bad the first time i listened to this song,im not a religious person but you can feel his strugle and pain
I am not religious either, but you can relate with what he sings in other levels in life
Drown and Addict with a pen have to be my favourite top songs, they are too good
Same!
Part of the second verse is used in Fall Away
I love when he he says “you see a man , free, who thinks he has to by a key to a door, but he can’t because he is poor.” It reminds me that We are free because of the sacrifice that God made, but we don’t deserve this free gift that costed so much. That’s Grace.
Awesome reaction its one of my favorites from Tyler its truly a master piece

I love this song so much. I would love for Tyler to remaster some of his older stuff because the lyrics still hit.
I absolutely loveeee This Song 😍
I've been watching your TOP reactions from the start. I can't believe it took this long to reach Drown! This is one of my all time favorites from Tyler. Love it
This song never fails to sap me of my strength. Reminders of how I keep failing just like everyone else yet grace remains to get up again
Can't wait for you to react to TB Saga! It's one of Tyler's most deep and meaningful songs to this date. You're gonna love it! ;D
Lol good one
💀😂

@@ShenhavBiton woah I've never thought about that lol
You should definitely react to save- Tyler Joseph
Also the second verse was put in fall away years later

One of his best !!
this song is powerful...wow God never ceases to amaze me.
Cant wait for the rest of the songs man they are great and to think this is before 21 pilots and how young he was making these.
Amazing man
I’m really shocked how quickly you understand the first few lines of the song. You totally right. My church always used to say that every time you sin it’s like killing god
such a gorgeous and breath taking song! the first part of the second verse was also in the second verse of fall away btw :)
Good timing to react to this before the Saturday music video
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
FALL AWAY ITS FROM FALL AWAY ^^ that lyric is from fall away :D
Your new series idea sounds great!
Hey you should do time to say goodbye, it was made when Josh joined, performed a few times but never officially released, and it's a great song.
I think this song is the best on that album. Love the reaction 🥰❤️
YES!!$ another Tøp reaction video!!

Is it just me or does Tyler rap kind of sound like Eminem.
