Thank you for drawing attention to the 'Wholesale Purchasing' Farmer's market at an ACTUAL 'Farmer's Market'. There was a bit of a scandal about it in the last two seasons as some of those guys were trying to claim they grew those products themselves when they had actually 'purchased' them. A lot of people didn't really understand EATING IN SEASON so they didn't know what should and should not be available at their local 'Farmer's Markets'. Like you say, if you don't have a problem buying it at the Market rather than the Grocery Store that's on you but you should know that you could very well be spending more money on stuff you can get straight from Kroger or wherever! Be blessed.

Hi Becky, not sure why I can’t comment in the regular section but wanted to caution you are baked dog bones. My dog had to spend the night at the emergency vet hospital under observation because shards of bone scratched her throat. Raw bones ok cooked bones become brittle.I felt so bad and didn’t want your pups to experience that. 🥰

In my geriatric career I took care of a man who was dubbed by his family as President of the Marigold Committee as he would deadhead his marigolds and sun dry his dead blossoms and give the seeds for Christmas gifts to all the people that lived in his retirement community. Such fun. ❤

Ok I broke down and bought me one of those greenstalk systems. Now I have to fill it with soil and plant my seeds. Turn on the lights I also bought and pray it all produces tomatoes, peppers, chives, Lettuce, Cucumbers Spinach, marjoram, Squash, and Scallions. I'm in an apartment so this should be best way to grow anything in limited space. I'll update you as the system grows. Wish me luck.

The small pansies are actually Johnny Jump Ups. These carefree plants are covered with cheerful flowers throughout spring & early summer. The start to get leggy and thin out with fewer blooms after that. But don't be discouraged! After initial flowering, cut plants back to several inches tall for another flush of bloom if the weather is not too hot. In milder climates, Johnny Jump Ups will self sow readily & come back each season. Your patio is spectacular!

So, I learned a fabulous trick to make garlic peeling much easier. Soak your cloves in cold water for 10 mins prior to peeling, strain the liquid, and the peel comes right off! I just tested this method two days ago when I was freeze drying some store bought garlic. Worked like a charm. 😊😊

Your floral tower out your kitchen window is beautiful.
After blending up garlic with oil to freeze for pucks dump a pint of tomato sauce or juice in the blender to get the residual garlic. That becomes pasta sauce for the nights supper.

I agree. My teenage son and I went to three of them this morning. He has specific people who he likes to visit, and he met a man who sells...catfish! He is over-the-moon about fresh catfish. One lady told us that she will only buy it from him. A baker at the other market knows him and agreed that his catfish is the best!
He has Autism, so his conversations are minimal. He is learning to ask them questions. The mushroom farmer had a grow kit, so he asked questions the following week about it. He has been enjoying his very own mushrooms!!

I love the farmers market in Chicopee. It’s amazing. I have always picked their brains especially being not new to the farming world. I grew up on a farm and ew farmers would always ask questions. I am in shock that anyone would attempt gardening without asking the pros. As any true farmer knows the books are not always accurate with how something will turn out. Why waste time and money if you don’t take advantage of all resources especially people who are doing it exceptionally well.

I bake & crush my eggshells (or crush, then bake) and mix them into my compost. Baking converts the calcium into a more plant-useable form. No blossom end rot on my tomatoes or peppers! If you give chickens the whole shells, they can learn to peck at just-layed eggs and ruin them...a bad habit that can be impossible to break. If you feed the shells back to the chickens, make sure to crush them up so they are not recognizable as an egg first. Usually pansies are much larger blooms, and they like COLD weather. Looks like you have violas (like violets but with the yellow)

I was watching another TH-camr and she made stuffed French toast and it was absolutely the best. My husband has requested this over and over. You just need a block of cream cheese 2 tablespoons of honey and cut up some fresh strawberries. Mix it all together and spread it it on 1 piece of the bread and put another slice of bread on top and then dip in the custard but she added a pinch of salt to her custard. They are so delicious.

If you want to take it up a notch, buy the largest fresh made croissants at a bakery, take out the quantity you need & place them in a bag or towel covered bowl until they get a tad stale. Take a knife & cut a "pocket" but not all the way through, soak them in your custard & stuff with your filling of choice🤤!! They are SO SO delicious (I use the same filling as you but occasionally use blueberries) especially if you add a few spices to the custard mix. With the extra croissants I usually make a yummy chicken salad to serve on them or I freeze them for a later use. If you haven’t tried it with croissants, I hope you enjoy it just as much if you give it a go!

Living in SC for almost 25 years now. It's hot, yes. But I laugh when people complain about humidity>> I grew up in south Florida. It was like breathing thru a wet cloth, sweat on top of sweat (because there was nowhere for that moisture to go!); now, only time actually feel some humidity is rain in late afternoon on hot day. The hot tarmac/concrete and the water evaporates, steam bath for about 15 minutes.😊

Hey there Becky! How much fun!! I adore farmers markets! It’s peach season here in Texas so we need to get over to our favourite farmers market and stock up on peaches and get them put up and freeze dried!! Yummy! Can’t wait!! Just an FYI, even though you put your “meals” in your beds, mulching with compost has been the very best thing I’ve ever done. It will also keep your raised beds not as hot and will preserve the moisture. It makes the beds look GORGEOUS! Also, if you’ve got issues with bugs dusk your plants and soil with diatomaceous earth. It is also the best thing for your chickens to take a dust bath in, because it kills pests that may have gotten on them and prevents lice and mites! Great stuff! I pray you and your little family have a fabulous weekend!!♥️🙏🏻✝️

I love they way your green stalks are turning out, especially the nasturtiums. Have you ever considered a hanging variety of mini petunias for a green stalk? I feel like those would look stunning when they've grown all bushy, covering the entire stalk.

I save all my bread ends for making German bread dumplings for when I make pot roasts in the colder months. )Just tape them to my hips😜) They are sooo yummy…..my German mom used to make them when I was growing up and I make them now too.

I love the farmer's market! I do try to avoid produce not in season as I know the other stuff is not local. We have fabulous bakers come in, Amish farmers that bring homemade foods as well. My top tip is do not go hungry!

I think the garlic pucks is very ingenious, you should pattent that and sell them in grocery stores, I bet it would sell like crazy. Everyone has had garlic go bad when it's fresh.
Talk to Josh and see what he says.

Oh how much I missssssed going to farmers market,. Saturday s breakfast used to be the best for me because it’s an assortment of all of the great goodies I scored after getting back from the market lol . I lived in the states for 6 years.. and I’m sad that I discovered the concept of farmers market just in the last 3 years of me living there. I enjoyed going to it virtually in this video a lot .

For GreenStalks when I feed them, I put a bucket under the hose to catch the water coming out and pour that back in. I figure there’s probably still good nutrients in that water after only 1 time it going through.

By putting my Hardneck cloves in a thick brown paper bag in a temperate controlled room ( my bedroom😂) out of sun. I try to leave a 3-4 inch stem so I can bundle varieties together, and not too many, in one bag. Mine lasted 7- 8 months before I had to peel and freeze and put into double ziplock freezer bags. I did dice a small half size amount for quick use to. It works fantastic. I’ve also decided for my area, my Hardneck variety does Belford me. And with softneck I hated dealing with all of those tiny cloves mixed in with the big ones🤷🏼‍♀️ this is my last year to grow softneck 🤷🏼‍♀️
