Legendary First White Seabass Catch on My Parker Boat: Epic Adventure at Catalina Island

- Embarking on a journey that's been years in the making, the thrill of the hunt finally paid off as I reeled in my very first legal 29” baby white seabass, marking a milestone achievement aboard my trusty Parker boat!
With the dawn breaking, our spirits high, and our bait boxes filled with lively sardines and mackerels, we wasted no time, charting a course straight for the coveted west end of Catalina Island. As the sun climbed higher in the sky, casting its golden glow over the shimmering waters, anticipation hung thick in the air... and then it happened - BAM! A single dropper loop, delicately rigged with 25lb fluoro and a small mackerel, proved irresistible to the elusive White Sea bass, sealing the deal on a triumphant catch.
But our adventure was far from over. Throughout the day, we found ourselves in the midst of a marine menagerie, hauling in a colorful array of sculpins, sandbass, calico bass, and plump mackerels. Six cabezon also made a brief appearance, each one carefully released back into the depths to live another day. Despite our best efforts, the crafty halibut managed to evade our hooks, leaving us yearning for another shot at landing the prized flatfish.
As the afternoon sun began its descent towards the horizon, we reluctantly bid farewell to Catalina's pristine shores, our trusty vessel slicing through the waves at a brisk 36 mph. Over the course of the day, we covered an impressive 120 miles, circumnavigating the entire island in our pursuit of piscatorial glory.
A heartfelt shout-out to the dedicated team that made it all possible: Chris and Eddie, both newcomers to the angling game, and Chan, whose expertise and camaraderie added an extra layer of excitement to the adventure. Here's to many more unforgettable fishing escapades on the high seas!

여러 해 동안의 노력 끝에 드디어 나는 내 파커 보트에서 내 첫 번째 합법적인 29인치 아기 흰바다배스 (민어) 를 잡았다!
새벽 5시에 살아있는 sardine 와 고등어로 무장하고 우리는 느릿한 서쪽 카탈리나 섬으로 향했다. 햇빛이 반짝이는 물 위로 금빛 빛깔을 뿌리는 동안 기대와 설렘으로 가득한 마음을 안고 우리는 기다리고 있었다... 그리고 그것이 일어났다 - 바로 그곳에서! 25lb 플루오로와 작은 고등어로 구성된 단 하나의 드롭 루프는 굉장히 어려운 민어에게 불가항력적이었다.
하지만 우리의 모험은 아직 끝나지 않았다. 하루 종일 우리는 다채로운 스컬핀, 샌드배스, 캘리코 베스, 통통한 고등어들을 낚았다. 6마리의 캐비즌도 잠깐 등장했지만, 각각을 신중하게 다시 깊은 곳으로 돌려 보냈다. 최선을 다했지만 교묘한 넙치는 우리의 갈고리를 피하고 있었다. 그것이 없었다는 것이었다.
오후 태양이 지평선을 향해 내려가기 시작할 때, 우리는 아쉽게도 카탈리나의 아름다운 해안선에 작별 인사를 했다. 우리의 신뢰할 수 있는 배는 빠른 36마일 속도로 파도를 가르며 우리는 하루에 120마일이라는 인상적인 거리를 달렸다.

Correction: white Sea bass limit is 1 or 3 depending on season not 2
Correction 2: it’s 48 nautical miles to west end of Catalina from Dana point. (Took 1.5 hrs to Avalon area and another 1 hr to west end. Swells were shorter and bigger. Had to go slow)
Correction 3: this jin ramen was not good. My Parker restaurant will no longer serve jin ramen. Sorry Jin ramen
And i think this wsb was caught before, i noticed that “treble hook” on his intestine was not mine. I’m so lucky. Lol
