Hey I’ve had my 89 K5 for past 12 years. It’s very solid and I was thinking of selling it. I might keep it another 12 more years after checking your video. Nice video
Hey Yes I did just sell my solid 89 Blazer. Now since I’ve sold it I have been seeing truck shows with them restoring the box Blazers. I’m having seller remorse.
Hello I never really did a check but probably around 8 - 15 miles a gallon depending how I was driving it that day. I had a 7-1/2 Meyer plow on it I only used for my drive way. I did end up selling it. Got sellers remorse now.
@@josephpuchel6497 That is a bit expensive to drive with gas being north of $3/gal. I guess it is better to find a diesel engine. Looking at the CUCVs or making a K30
I was already looking a C10s, K10s and K5 Blazers. Now you make me want to actually buy one at this moment! Great video straight to the point. On to part 2 for me!
"Goofy looking bike racks" 😁😂 that was hilarious ! But you totally nailed it 💯. I love my 89 k5 wouldn't trade or sell it for the world . The rear window roll up and down is also very cool feature. Everything you said was spot on 💪👍👏
My #1 reason was definitely the large engine bay. I have an 86 with a 406 small block, th350 3 speed transmission and np203 transfercase. I hope mine looks as amazing as yours one day!
Oh man she sounds beautiful. Nothing like those old school V8s. Im seriously contemplating on getting one. Just moved to Georgia and there are quite a few on sale around the area. Thanks for the video and beautiful truck!
I daily drive a 1994 f-150 4x4 reg cab short bed 109k miles 5.0 5 speed. it has a bigger cam trick flow heads and intake. it puts out 350rwhp and I get 19mpg with it. I love old trucks they are dying off but I still see them on the road as work trucks.
Def liking the 86 lil more after this. Im looking to buy one thats drivable and in decent condition. Any advice is welcomed! Really want to have a nice classic truck
What state do you live in lowride? I just my 84 blazer 4x4 going again. Love my blazer, lots of work to be done though. Looking to rebuild transmission, engine and make it fuel injection. There is nothing like an older model blazer or truck. The body and craftsmanship of older Chevy's are priceless.
you should look into getting a grant small steering wheel. I like mine on my k5. It makes driving with your pinky easy and it makes getting in and out of the driver seat much easier.
If I ever hit the lottery I'm buyin' a '73-'79 K5. My dad had a '76 when I was a kid, and I've never seen anything like it. Pity nowadays a K5 in really good shape is around $50K
Yeah that's cool my Dad had a 1984 K5 when I was growing up. These trucks do hold their value well they are the jack of all trades. These new trucks ain't have the trucks these things are.
Don’t make them like they used to. These were great trucks and this one is a dandy! I had a 1975 K5 in college. It’s on my list of vehicles I wish I hadn’t sold! Today is a bunch of tech crap we don’t need, emission equipment and plastic everything. Sad. Thanks for this great video.
Yes and I tell you what I was really disappointed with the new Blazer. The new Blazer is good for maybe taking the kids to a soccer game or a trip to the grocery store that's about it. Off road mudding with the new Blazer not likely.
Hey buddy I got a question about body parts. I went through LMC's entire catalog and it seems they have every window and trim part, but for the life of me I can't find that rear vent window or what it is even called. If I google vent window, I get the front ones. The window frame has the hardware on the top and bottom but I bought it with no glass or glass hardware and yes I want to restore it to it's original awesomenesss any ideas??? Thanks 1990 Blazer Silverado 5.7
The whole window piece is called a K5 Blazer rear sliding window and the small window at the head of the sliding window is called a wing that looks like a vent window.
@@EddieC2000 Thanks man. I hope I can find one online. These really are bad ass trucks. I had a '79 AMC Jeep Cherokee and man they don't make them like that anymore either.
I found me a 87 blazer, is there anything I should look out for when looking to buy one? I’m not mechanically incline I know some basic stuff. I know chevys will last as long you took care of them
If you live in a southern area truck frame should be good. If not they are famous for rusting out especially the floor boards. Other than that they are very reliable trucks.
# 420th reason is to get on your blazer lite a fat one ,turn on your radio and go for a ride and 2 hours later realize that you never left the driveway
This day in age after cash for clunkers. You are lucky AF to own a K-5, Ram Charger or Bronco. I have two Ram Chargers and call them my unicorns. In 5 years here in Tucson I have seen 2 on the street. I would love to build a 383 stroker for a K-5.
Yes I remember when that cash for clunkers was going on the junkyards were packed with 70's and 80's vehicles. Those years picking in junkyards was a gear heads dream. I was at the junkyards every week.
@@EddieC2000 Man those were the days. Being military I got in for free. Still do. I just don't need minivan parts or import car parts as bad as I need real American steel. Rows of minivans is all I see now. They are useless for pretty much anything. Be sweet to have a 74 Ford Box Bronco with a Cleaveland 4 barrel, 75 K-5 with a 383 and a Ram Charger with a Cummins, Hemi or Stroker 360 Magnum.
I like the older vehicle to I got an 85 but I don't know that all of your reasons are the best but I agree we should go back to simplicity metal quality vehicles that lasts
Santiago Giménez Utiel it really depends on the state... anything from 1981-1989 is essentially the same truck, just variations in the grill... fully restored can go for 10000- 30000 but one that needs a bit of work is about 5000 where i am...craigslist and Facebook marketplace are great sites to look, but it takes time to find the perfect truck, just remember that. Good luck in your truck adventure
Nice I like the 70's models too.. yeah I agree the new ones look like they are neutered. My Dad had a 79 K5 it got stolen in 1985 cops never did find it.
Honestly I hate it. To me it looks like a common neutered SUV. No ruggedness look to it at all something you can drive the kids to School in, take the kids to a soccer game or a trip to the Grocery store. Its disappointing
The funny thing is no matter how much we bawk about what we want and need companys build what they want not what we want so the best thing to do is not buy new and make stuff like this last forever if we can there plastic garbage needs to stay on the lot I like good old iron
Right! Cars, trucks and SUVs are getting uglier, more expensive than they have ever been and more difficult to fix by yourself ever year. It doesn't make sense you would think we would be moving forward with vehicles not backwards.
I always do but when I'm at the ATM or pulling up to a fast food window I have to unfasten my seatbelt to get my wallet out. Newer car would beep when it's unnecessary.
There were only two things I didn't like about the Dodges the skinny gas pedal and top curved glass on rear cab. Other than that those old ram chargers were cool.
If that is so then you are no Chevy man. I have a 91 Silverado Blazer 5.7 4x4. No Dodge I ever met is superior to it....No Ford either for that matter.
I’m sorry but you keep saying man this and man that but it’s a automatic😂 and you out here trashing jeeps when they would outcompete that without a doubt
Dream vehicle for me... I can appreciate every single square inch of this beauty! Old school is the best!
K5 Love, I agree to all. I just bought an 84' Silverado, she's my 5th square body, sooo happy.
