That's a really good tip! I sometimes flare out my ribs and this image helps in not doing that. I also got 'Everything is frappé' written on my mirror at home, because since I started doing frappé without the barre, this is the one exercise where really every muscle in my body gets activated. So for the time being, I'm do a little frappé preparation before I start any exercise, and it really helps.
Your head weighs at least 8-10# (unless you’re an airhead - ok jk). If it’s fwd, it will propel you that way, and as we age, we’ll notice the humpback postures -how people end up falling and needing walkers. So, if we hang a plumb-line from your earlobe, it should go straight down to intersect the shoulder, hip and ankle; intersecting the normal spinal curves (2 concave, 2convex - stretched S). Sorry, I’m an older ballerina and therapist. I’ve worked with people’s postures for over 40 years. They called me “the posture police”. Poor posture - It’s one of my pet peeves. 🤭

Hi Isabella ❤ I always tell the students about the leotard side sawing line. That has to be straight. Especially for younger kids to picture lungs in their head might be tricky. But the sewing line can be seen. Also lungs are not straight lines but are 3D, they expand as we breathe. I think it migh be great imagery for some adults, but for example someone like a younger me ( that think too further I admit) it could be confusing.
This has really helped, thank you.😊❤
Love this advice ❤️
Thank you for that 🫶
I'm not a ballet dancer. Very good imagery, much better than "tuck back your shoulders" I usually practice doing yoga. Thank you very much. Susanne
I felt this immediately! Thank you 🤍
that's soo true.! the concept holds true for everything we do!
My teacher always told us think of a string coming down through your head to you heals or toes! It’s a great visualization!
Great advise. One of the reasons my mother allowed me to take Ballet lessons was to avoid poor posture.

To have Living Ballerinas address me, in Real Life means I've finally discovered the Right Path!
They are CLEARLY the Superior People!

Maravilloso consejo ❤❤❤
thank you
It helps with breathing, too. Hunching forward restricts it.
My biggest issue is neck posture
Nice
