I was issued this light October 2019. I've charged it a total of three to four times in the last year. It works great when it works. I've had many issues with the light itself turning on and staying on when conducting everyday operations. I've had to smack it on my hand in order to get it to work a couple times.
I quite liked this light, though I tried to be cheap and use my own rechargeable 18650's in it and no dice, since as you explain ASP's battery is a unique design to prevent that. They still work in the light obviously but you lose the charging functionality. Personally, I use the ASP holder in conjunction with the newest inova light (yes, they're still around!!) that has the same bezel diameter as the XT. The inova has a nice charging dock and puts out I think 900 lumens. I really like the functionality of the ASP holder, so it's the best of both worlds for me. Great video!
Elzetta modular flashlights are my favorite for defense. They are SIGNIFICANTLY more robust, modular, and have a nuetral white soft edge beam. The Elzetta Bravo B331 is my personal favorite.
$170 is very expensive for a 600 lumen flashlight brands like Fenix and Nightcore and surefire in some cases are cheaper and more lumens surefire g2x pro is 600 lumens is $60
Want a light that is harder to charge? Or takes cr123s? Doesn't have a pocket clip? Has lots of modes to cycle through to get to what you need? Great news! You can get it cheaper than this tool designed for a purpose.
It is very different and awkward. It wont fit in flashlight holders on the market. It is not quick to put on the charger due to design. Awkward to hold and if you hold it where the pinky is towards the bezel, you cant change brightness unless you completely change your grip. It isnt a patrol light in my views but a house or shop flashlight.
I just bought it. Had it for 1 week. Stop working. I push the rear bottom and nothing. A green light comes on the side. But nothing. Very disappointed. I will take it back to G T distribution.
My question is how well does this fit in the shoulder loop (epaulet)of a uniform shirt using the clip? Could you show me in a video or send me your thoughts in a picture before I buy? Thanks in advance.
Question for you.... I've done security now on and off from 2000 to present. As of the last 2 yrs I've used a plate carrier black with front and back patch that says U.S. Armed Protection Officer. I carry a flashlight pair of cuffs a M9 3 mags 1 baton and OC spray. My uniform is black polo with OD green pants. No badge. Would you say in your professional law enforcement experience i was trying to hard? Nobody has given me any grief about how i look. Just curious on your assessment.
I will say this. I would be VERY careful about using "US" and "OFFICER" or "agent" in any title for security together unless you are in fact an officer of the United States government. Same thing with using any state name and "officer" or "agent".
@@freefieldtraining i am in Indiana i have used protection officer patch as well and bit i will take note and look into that for sure. Could you direct me to a site that can give me security rules and regulations that deals with wording for using patches like i stated or the likes thereof.
@@freefieldtraining from what I was told by security and a couple of officers was as long as i was not displaying POLICE or Law Enforcement that there shouldn't be an issue but yes i don't want any issues so.
@@stevearmbar There are no universal rules on such a thing, especially in Indiana. But, what do you think would happen if someone you passed off at work went to the feds the next day and said you told them you were a federal officer and threatened to arrest them if they didn't leave the premises you were contracted to? I imagine even in Indiana there would be an investigation launched into the allegation and that patch would appear to verify the story. Not everything has to be spelled out in a statute to be law. That patch could easily be "exhibit A" that you were impersonating with a couple of shit eye witnesses rounding out the prosecution. I suggest anyone working security have a patch with what is clearly a company name or "security" clearly on it.

I had the same issues with my steam light. I then switched batteries and found that it doesn't like flat top batteries. Hadn't had a problem since.
Just picked up the DF Triad, can honestly say that this light is extremely well made and great. Only time will tell, but I’m impressed so far.

The 2020 is a great light. Police fire etc use them. The station by me just ordered 40 of them.

I ordered one of these got it and it did not work properly sent it back to ASP and they are sending me a new one with an extra battery
