That third-to-last shot with the close-up is a KILLER shot. Awesome stuff Gav - I need to dig out my LEDs and have a play! Thanks also to Chloe for nailing it as usual.
I always thought those cheap LED ring lights were a bit naff but Wow, I think you might have changed my mind Gavin! A brilliant idea for use as a prop and with your signature smoke added it creates fabulous images 👍
Great video as always , with great suggestions. love the fact you left you tripping over the cable in. have to confess it did make me chuckle. Look forward to the next video 👍🏻
Great video as always Gavin and anyone watching for the first time Gavin is an amazing teacher and he is an awsome person in real life to, and he is not your average photography educator he is anything but Ordinary he is extraordinary.
Great video! Gave me some different ideas to try!! I have these lights but in a multi-color and I can set it to fade in and out to other colors randomly vs just white
07:35 and the one after that as well, those are the winners imho and her pose is just spot on! An excellent way to use that ring-light. Great tips and inspiration here Gavin! :)
@@GavinHoey I use Godox lighting almost exclusively, so this ring light idea is right up my alley. I have an even smaller space to shoot in, but I got some good portraits, and I have a black backdrop, so this could work.
Came back to this and I just wanted to say that I tried a self-portrait with this setup and a v-flat. It came out alright, but when I added the fog, it wasn't easy for my Z6II to focus on me. I'm still trying to set up a shoot to try this with a model, and test my new lens. I even bought a C-stand for it.
The round catch lights are only round when the ring light is square on to the model's eyes. The more obtuse the angle , the more oval (or even straight) the catchlight... Or there's always Photoshop 😉
Sidenote, I still have a a smoke and laser -machine sitting around after the "disco setup" many years ago 🤣 The smokemachine has been used a couple of times tho!
Gavin demonstrating trip hazards in the first few seconds ... and the closing scene. Why use a modifier/light the same way as everyone else when you are the one and only Gavin Hoey! Images with the light in frame and Chloe interacting with it worked really well. And we had SMOKE !!! Well Done to All ! (another piece of kit added to my shopping list)
Thanks,great learning.
thanks.
🥰Gorgeous Amazonian.
I watch most videos from Gavin since it has great tips. Kudo to him, team, and Adorama.
Different with great results, thanks yet again to all involved. You make a great team.
What fun!!! Thanks, Gavin and Chloe!
Thanks Wendy 👍

Thanks Alun. I would say you could borrow my LED ring light but it's already been nabbed by Freya 😉
Thank you Sam, Chloe, and Gavin! As always, this was enlightening and delightfully pleasant. :)
Thank you for the kind words 😊

Oh nice. I love that idea James 👍
Thinking outside of the box. Well done indeed.
That was a lot of fun and a great idea. Did see where that plug socket used to be on your back wall though!
Thanks for sharing.
Some of the settings of the ring light above Chloe’s head brought up vibes from the intro of the classic Roger Moore television series “The Saint”! 😊
That wasn't the plan but I'm very happy to help in that company 😉
Chloe looked beautiful
Nice
COOL

Thank you. We did the photos in the order you saw them and at the time we did say we probably can't top them 😀
You just gave me some inspiration. I'm going to try this out.
That's the very reason we do this 😀

This model would look great dressed as the Wonder Woman :)

Great ideas. I really don't like the ring catchlight in eyes though.

And here I'm sitting... thinking I was never gonna buy one of those 😂 You are a convincing guy, Gavin!

Thanks Alan. Making a trip look natural is harder then you might think 🤣
What a beautiful lady
The more little things that you can add to your bag of creative tricks the better. Price isn't the point.
I've never been able to get past the ring light catch lights looking really creepy to me. 🥸
