- This is the new and slightly improved 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom. This Silverado 1500 Custom comes in red hot on jet black cloth interior. The powertrain consists of a 2.7 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Standard features of this Silverado 1500 Custom include bluetooth audio, a backup camera, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. Additional features include a push button starter, 20" aluminum wheels, and a power driver's seat with power lumbar support.

Just got one 2022 Glacier Blue 2.7 HO. I took the 10 Yr/115,000 warranty.
Very quiet motor, a joy to drive. Pull strong, carry strong, drive strong. Man, this engine is really amazing.
Smart getting the warranty. That's a lot of torque stuffed in that 4 cylinder

This truck is perfect for people that just use it to tow and also use it 4/5 times a year. It has all the necessities you need to pull a trailer.
I have the '21 version of this truck and get 27.5 MPG. Not sure how non-owners of this truck can criticize the gas mileage. Prior to this, I had an Avalanche, and driving the same distances, I was generally getting 18-19 MPG. An 8-10 MPG difference sure seems like a benefit to me.

I just got the exact same Custom except with Silver color with the multi flex tailgate. I got 2 WD but the gas mileage is excellent for a full size truck.
Love the new Custom grille.

I don’t love the fact that this is a 4 Cylinder, what I would get if I were to get a Base Truck from Chevrolet nowadays is a Work Truck or Custom Trail Boss with a 5.3 V8

Do you notice the difference in the new 2.7 high output then last year's 2.7 turbo
It does seem a little quicker, but most noticeable was the turbo whistle for me.
What are you using to record while driving?
Headcam strap. Like $8 on Amazon I think.
Do a custom trailboss. I wonder what the fuel economy is for it. I just wished it had standard LED headlights (prev gen had them standard) and a floor through console.

Previous gen custom TB had regular head lamps. LT trail boss had standard LEDs

I was about to write don’t think I’d get a 4 in a full size truck, then remembered I have a 2.7 Ecoboost, same displacement 2 more cylinders, 73k not he first problem.

That Custom Is A Base Model But The 2.7L Turbo Is A 6 Second Truck But I Loved The Sound Of That Motor, That Is So Amazing But That Became Higher Output.

Yes, $0 option too. Standard wheel is the silver painted 20" like before, and then you can option to black.
Standard is silver painted. Black is park of the dark essentials package. $1500 including black badging and wheels.
@@gopnick Incorrect. The wheels are a $0 option on Custom, which is the trim in this video. Its right in the build and price. The package you are thinking on might be the one on LT trim.
I liked the previous body color grill and headlights better, the only thing I like about this new one is that it has 430 Ib ft of torque, and it has the electric driver seat. I don't too much care about the push button start, but it is a nice touch for this trim level. The key fob looks a little silly but I will get over it. Maybe I'm just being picky.
I agree. The 19-22 Custom with the body colored "CHEVROLET" bar was a better look than this all black plastic grille. Chevy does offer an accessory grille for these though with red or silver "CHEVROLET" lettering which would help a bit.
The 2.7 high outputs are hard to find.

I have the 2021 with the 310hp/348lbft of torque just like you I was a V8 guy as well after test driving it I was like holy shit and so was my wife this engine is the future and the engineering behind it proves you don’t need a v8 to do heavy hauling as this engine is more than capable I’ve had mine for a year now and I absolutely love it

I just got the earlier 2022 Silverado Red Hot Custom. Has several bells and whistles with the 2.7 turbo. I love the smooth little motor. I couldn’t here except for the turbo or cam growl, so I had muffler removed for 3” pipe. Left of course the cat and the resonator. It has a light deep low rpm rumble not too loud for the stereo. Kept the giant muffler in case I ever want to quiet again. Love the truck.

My 2022 custom refresh crew 4x4 msrp is 48,030.... glacier blue, spray in bedliner, locking rear diff was upcharges. Has trailering package , remote start. Not sure if they are upcharges
For all what they want for them they could’ve at least stayed the bed liner

Does anyone know if the older 2.7 turbo engines have any issues? They’ve been out for a few years already.
Nothing major. I know someone with > 200,000 miles, half towing. No issues other than minor stuff.

@@born2win262 I know people who bought brand new V8 silverados within the last few years & ended up with engine or transmission issues. The 8 speed transmissions that come with the 2.7 turbo seem to be better than those 10 speed ones.
If they did better MPG wise, I’d be all over this 4cyl. Right now there’s no benefit Over a V8, just a much more complex engine
I own one and the mpg is really good. I drive 1hr for work on the highway and a full tank lasts me 2 days and a half
People are seeing 22-26 mpg highway. Plus 5.3 and 6.2 are having tons of lifter problems. This truck does better towing than both, peak torque at 1800 run like a diesel. Ask any gm tech, these trucks are in the shop the least out of any engine option

The V8 is way more expensive. May just be where I’m at but they are $54-60s for the trail boss and higher trims. Got the V4 for $46k.
I'm getting 23 to 25.8 an only 1000 miles on it got 20 for mostly city an air-conditioning on ,pulls my 8x10 dump trailer with easy better than my v8 did ,so gas sipper if your not a lead footer an tows easily

4 cyl in a full size truck?
I can't tell if you were really asking a question or... but yes because of technology they're able to push more horsepower out of 4 cylinder engines. 2.7 liters is a really big 4 cylinder. If it was a v8 it would be a 5.4 liter. But I do not agree with having a smaller engine because all that power will wear and tear the engine faster, with a v8 it doesn't have to work so hard. But it's all for emissions since the government is getting stricter on that.

I don't like the 2.7 liter turbo 4 cylinders cause for a heavy truck I think the 4 cylinders can't do it I prefer the old 4.3 V6 and that is better cause it's a bigger motor for heavy truck.

Yes it is. This is the 2022.5 if you will, the refresh. WT, Custom and Custom TB all get new fronts but keep the old interior. The LT and higher trims get the new interior.
@@killercan10 The refreshed is only LT and up. If the interior isn't new it's not considered refreshed. Even the 2022 LTD models had some updates over last years.
@@crazytastie This truck, in this video, is a refreshed 2022. Its on the VIP (Global B) electrical architecture (hence the new style Tahoe key), its got an all new front clip. The interior is carryover on WT, Custom and Custom TB. Otherwise, its NOT the same as the 2022 LTD which are identical to the 2019-2021 truck. The NEW INTERIOR is on LT and up, yes. Look at the front of a 2022 LTD Custom and this. The headlights, grille, bumper, all different.
@@crazytastie They are ALL refreshed. You can't be this dense. WT, Custom, Custom TB, LT, LT TB, LTZ and High Country got refreshed, the upper trims getting more than lowers. All of them are on the new VIP electrical architecture, the 2.7T is now the HO. The LTD didn't get shit for updates.
