Glad you were able to find something useful. I hope to do another video on the SRV pretty soon. It's still one of my favorite guitars. Welcome to the channel!
I’ve got one just like it and replace the tuners but it’s a lot better than expected a lot of fun to play and you don’t have to worry about scratching it up because you don’t it just adds to the relic
Honestly no. Even though they look like a strat the body thickness isn't right. I put a big trem block in it and the hole for the arm was off center. Basically I prefer the Squier special edition models to modify. I have a video up of one I just finished. You will really be better off with one of those. Thanks for watching
Glad I caught this video, been wondering about these, really wanted to get one of these or other copy necks to check out. Sounds alright to me, they say the pots should be changed or maybe certain hardware but if it works, I use to play old Gibsons & Fenders but can't afford them anymore. Thanks for the review, feel a little better about them now.
Thanks for watching. I am going to do a video in the next few days upgrading this guitar. New trem, bone nut, clay inlays and new tuners. I have already changed pu's and electronics.
Sounds great. The Chinese have really stepped up their game on these knockoffs. I've bought three so far. they aren't three thousand dollar guitars, but they do play fine. For the price of these, you can throw a little money in them and you're off to the races...
Hello, I really appreciate your video, Is its body made of plywood?, you can check this out in the back just in the tremolo cavity. And did you change pickups too?. Nice guitar for my ears (and for my wallet too :)) I worship one of these chinese guitars. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for watching. Yes it is made of actual wood. Not sure what kind but it isn't plywood. The pickups are the ones that came in it. Very low output will probably change them out soon.
That depends. If you're looking for a guitar ready to play out of the box? NO! If you want a guitar to mod and upgrade into a better instrument then YES.
I ordered it in October but it was a pre-order deal. It was part of the 11/11 sale they had going on at the time. I would have to go back and look at my prior video but I think it was about 4 weeks. Thanks for watching and the positive comment.
Don't sweat the small stuff, in this case the whammy bar (wiggle stick, etc.). I never use the one in my strat; I never have, it's just never been a part of my playing style, being just an old blues guy myself. I don't rag people who use them--everyone plays their own thing and that's what's cool. For me it would be a cheesy special effect and I'm just not about all that so I leave it alone. I do say I really admire who can use it well, a few of whom are Robin Trower, Hendrix, Stevie Ray, etc. You never see Clapton use one ever, not Albert King, Mark Garner (Grand Funk) etc. As I say, every one has their own style. I keep one in my case just because it kind of belongs there. Have a good one!😁
Which store on aliexpress did you use? Most of us really just want a solids made to spec on CAD blueprints, that are literally slid under the table to the workers who, if they do it by the book, they earn dogshit. But if they work together creating one solid nameless product out of every 100, production looks good, and these guys can swap their seller name each time to sell a pretty quality product! Yeah, you’ll need to replace some hardware and do a proper set up, big deal. You probably just saved $10k from the custom shop
I don't recall the name of the seller. Quite sure they have changed names. If you look at it hard it looks fake but so does the custom shop ones😁. Thanks for watching!!
@@justinrayguitars6024 my idea was much the same of yours. It’s a $3-500 gamble really right? If you’ve got the capability to replace the weak parts with genuine fender, and the electrics/ harness/soldering I’d be doing from scratch. What pups did SRV actually use old boy? Thanks, from Australia
Good video man, Aliexpress has nice les pauls also, if you spend 250 to 300 bucks, I have been tempted to buy a strat from them, but i have some mexi and squier strats. If you want a tele, try the squier bullet seafoam green , with a rosewood fret board, just got one and its nice. Rock on!
I appreciate that. I have a AliExpress Les Paul that if it makes it though customs should be here by next week. I will do a unboxing and review on it so keep a look out for it. thanks
what continues to baffle me is WHY someone would spend the money on a chinese imitation strat when for just a bit more a squier classic vib strat is available. used is very affordable. the fender squier is a much better quality guitar. for anyone buying a chinese knock off they are not getting the specs of an american fender or a fender squier. the squier neck profile is very similar to a 60's fender strat neck but has a 9.5" radius fingerboard. then one needs change this and that and something else... the tuning isn't so good. is the nut correct? is the intonation correct? or is it just out of tune? bad compensation on those 2nd &3rd strings
skip to 7:48 if you want to hear it play.
Love that Southern drawl!
Epitome of politeness.
You earned your thumbs up, friend!
Man i'm glad I ran across you! bought 1 of the same SRV and U answered alot of questions I had concerning this guitar!! Best of luck in 2020!!!

Just waiting for mine to come in. Let you know how it sounds when it does.
Please do. I am curious if I just got lucky are if they are all good as mine.
Update?
Do you think is a good base guitar to do some upgrade? you know, new tunners, maybe new dimarzios and in a while have a good strat?
Honestly no. Even though they look like a strat the body thickness isn't right. I put a big trem block in it and the hole for the arm was off center. @@justinrayguitars6024 Thanks for answering, i will look for a squier for my project. Thanks a lot and keep rocking

Looks good brother and glad you got one that worked out well. Q they seem to be getting better. Shame they don't make their own version tho huh?
really wanted to buy the rick natural finish 325 short scale copy but not sure if it would be good

Yes sir, I was really surprised. Thanks for watching
@Enzo James they’re pretty bad. You’re better off with a Yamaha.
Do you happen to remember which seller you bought from? There are so many with slightly different products.
I want to say it was Krait. Haven't seen them on there lately. Thanks very much for watching wish I could be more helpful
@@justinrayguitars6024 thank you very much
The truth is. Stevie , just like many great guitarists, wouldn't care neither. As long as it stay in tune, they can rock the hell out of it.
I'm thinking about getting one sent to me in old N.C.
Did you ever get one?

A Boy in Texas needs to order one!
I can't promise anything but the one I got is a great guitar.
Might be a second boy in Tx that needs one.
That’s a nice sounding guitar-looks like Stevie’s, too!
Is it worth buying?
That depends. If you're looking for a guitar ready to play out of the box? NO! If you want a guitar to mod and upgrade into a better instrument then YES.
New subscriber...Looks like you got a bunch of cool video's to indulge in !
How long did it take for you to get yours.. They are processing mine...??? Great video

The guitar looks nice, very nice actualy, but it sounds horrible.
What seller did you buy it from?
Krait I think was the store.( Loving the guitar) was the name of the seller. Thanks for watching!

Good informative video man, thank you.
Thanks for watching it's greatly appreciated.
Doesn’t really sound like a strat.
Sounds great just not very strat sounding
Huh?
Ahh likes running
