If you'd like to go to the Pamir Mountains inTajikistan, you'll need a lot of (expensive) documents. You can get 1 month tourist visa on arrival. But don't forget to register yourself in Dushanbe. In the same office you can also buy your GBAO permit (Pamir permit).
If you obtained a 2 months E-visa beforehand, you don't need to register yourself, and in the same application you can get the GBAO permit.
If you'd like to go to Tajik National Park, you'll need to pay an extra 10 USD a day. You can get this permit in Ovir Office in Khorugh, or just at the start in Bachor / Bulunkel, where the ranger will find you quick enough.
If you want to cross the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, you'll need to put yourself on the list. A "travel agent" in Murghab will do this for you. Guesthouse "Erali" in Murghab (Ул. Сомони 3/1, Murghab, Tajikistan) will organise your permit and transport for you.

A very interesting and informative video for anyone who wants to explore there. I wish I had your bravery to try new places and explore this world to it's fullest.

Yes, and very boring video if you have no intention of going there 😂

@@miriamlancewoodinthewild I don't agree. I know at my age I will probably never go but now I am confident enough that I could go if I wanted to.

Sound like a lot of papers and administration stuff to go through ... thank you.

More than I thought yes. But it's all doable.
There are about a dozen checkpoints on the Pamir Highway from Dushanbe to the Kyrgyzstan border crossing, so it's good to have your paperwork done. The people who check your papers and organize your permits are very kind. That's great. In fact all the Tajik people we encountered were super kind and helpful. ❤

How come @Miriam Lancewood that the sun was so extremely hot? Even hotter than in the Himalaya where you were..??..So it would not be due to the attitude...??...very interesting hey

Yes very interesting. I think the incredible dryness in combination with the clear air. Humidity must block some of the rays.
NZ has incredibly storng sun, but nothing like the Pamirs.

I'll give that place a miss then..... lol. Even though the mountains look utterly striking, not a tree, bush, shrub, or even a patch of grass could be seen. It looks desolate of anything growing by the look of it Miriam.

      Hi Paul❤
True. Very different from NZ. But it's worth going there. The landscape has an amazing effect on your mind and being.

@miriamlancewoodinthewild I'd certainly love to go to New Zealand, I hear the hunting is excellent there.

Well, there you are. It seems you are still insisting walking around in the middle of "nowhere".. Why don`t gear up, and begin to step around in the Alps..? Where you can commercialize your adventures.(?). I don`t want to be rude, but you need to reconsider your hole venture. Life is to short to spin around in third world countries. Finish that "look" and revalue your hole content. Just saying as long as "free speech" is legal. But, still enjoy..

The so called First world countries were built on loot... Now that plundering options have become less... We are seeing a gradual decline of West...
