Odd design for sure, independent suspension all around, maybe you can put on wheel wideners & different tires all around for more stability on this along with oil shocks for a bit more driveability ?
Wonder if it shares parts with this truggy they look kind of similar in some places like the shock towers & rear end of the chassis.

What size hex wheel adapters? I got some paddle wheels I want to send you plus a water proof servo. I think it might float. Looking at your stickers too 👀😉.
Actually, to batten down the hatches means to prepare for bad weather by securing ships' hatches with tarps and battens.

Hi, some military vehicles have the spare wheels on the sides to stop the chassis from grounding, also the thin blue bits of metal with the lines on at the top of the shocks is to adjust the "pre-load"(makes the shocks stiffer) it should make the car less bouncy. Steve UK.

@@lylekehrer6159 The tire chase down the hill was. However they need upgraded rims, I think there are aluminum rims that size I've seen in the past.
To me it looks like those wheels can be made to roll whenever something tries to high center it so it can roll right over stuff

That motor is a sleeper, it just looks like a basic 540. Then it just lights that car up. It's about a 12 or 13 turn brushed modified. It looks really fun for what it is, very cool.

That was surprisingly awesome! I didn’t expect that at all. I may seriously consider this. I really wish those middle wheels were functional, for crawling it would be excellent. Especially when your going over a large log, to keep it from see-sawing (spelling?). Thanks Saylors!

Found this on Amazon just now for $100.00 with free shipping. Some $15.00 oil shocks on this and it would be a BEAST. I THINK I WANT ONE!!! Looks more fun then my 12428!

I LOVE WL Toys!!! I still fly my Q303 giant drone daily. Has a great camera with single axis gimbal camera @720p and it is huge! Was about $100 and flies like a dream after over 100 crashes. The battery has been recharged over 500 times and still getting 6-9 minute flights. Carries 9 OZ of payload that I release with a TR-77 remote drone release clip. I plant trees using it, and so should you!
Those side spares do make it 'weird' looking. Pretty cool looking body though, the design of the front fenders and the ribs on the back - looks like those you saw on cars years back.
Might be an interesting follow up video of you guys putting some oil into those shocks and then short running section to show the difference just oil can make
For those wondering you can pick one of these up nowadays for like $60-$80 it’s cheap on the wltoys website
I think you were correct the biggest downfall of this RC is the shocks. before a shock upgrade maybe see if they can be filled with shock oil which would help out immensely slowing down "shock bounce"

Nice video, yes looks like it needs a bigger battery and better shocks however there is one simple free mod you seemed to overlook that would give you better runtime as well as improve the handeling, efficiency of the shocks and give you better performance too and that is remove those two wheels/tyres.
Sure they look good for photos but apart from looks there's no real reason to have them attached to the car, rather see them as some bonus spare wheels and from your last ground vechiles test may come in handy.
Also I do get that you like to run your vechiles as they come out of the box but if you are doing another video like a speed test it would be good to see also with the spare wheels removed. My guess is it's not going to give the truck better top speed but I should improve acceleration, runtime and handeling 😁🏁

I have gotten some cheap RC vehicles lately, and find you can in fact add oil to the shocks. those shocks do look like you can add oil and that makes all the difference on the bouncy problem.

May I ask you for a little advice? I just bought 2 cheapo drones, the same. One for a little girl of ten, my grand-daughter, and one for myself to see what it is. The only thing either of us can get them to do is to fly about 4 feet in the air for 30 seconds or so and then they flop back down to earth with a dead battery . So instead of being happy the little girl is frustrated and disappointed. Can you recommend a good cheapo drone that works properly and is suitable for a 10 year old kid?

The reason why it won’t make it up the hill is because those tires in the middle hit against and bump that would otherwise not bump against the ground when going over bumps. Plus it looks like they come suspiciously close to the rear wheels when the rear wheels come up.

Tamiya makes a few six wheel drive R/C vehicles. My favorite one is the school bus. They also make a crawler too. The Tamiya Chassis is the G6-01. Check it out and maybe even build one.
Nate do them spare wheels spin and do they come below the chassis as they may help if the rear wheels dont get any traction or left hanging so the spares may help to get over some rough ground

The Wltoys 124012 is cool for modeling a less common style of racer, has great speed, but seems somewhat lacking in handling.

Kinda expensive for the build quality for my taste. If they had shock upgrade, then maybe? Just added better shocks to my wltoys 12428 racer. Much less bouncing. I vote maybe. I'd like to see an acual crawler with middle wheels on bearings. I wander how it would act on rocks and branches that you would normally get stuck on.

It looks like there is no oil in the shocks, or if there is it is way to thin, the shocks look like they could hold oil, try some thirty or thirtyfive weight this should help, try without the spare wheels on as they are heavy it may handle better that way until you try oil in the shocks.
Can you please measure the shocks id like to upgrade mine.

Are you reviewing the 1/16scale remo hobby smax 1635, the brushless version? It really looks interesting and with brushless motor definitely more power ! I know the smax brushed version you reviewed did cause some problems in your channel ;)
Cool little truck. It was designed after a real vehicle. I believe it was a Dakar race truck but not 100% sure. I read something a while back about the original vehicle it was copied from. Yeah new shocks would make a huge difference.
