Hey everyone! We hope you are all WONDERFUL on this beautiful Wednesday. Just a heads up. Walter is NOT our horse. Just a friends. We thought it would be fun to show him off a little. Although not the prettiest horse (kinda a goofy looking boy, but still adorable lol) Walter has an amazing walk and is extremely fast! Such a fun MFT for sure! He is a blast!
I always learn so much from JR!! Walter is a little gangly! He reminds me of Icabod Krane from The legend of sleepy hollow!! The old school cartoon, where he is super skinny, and clumsy!! ❤❤❤ But he is still a beautiful horse!!
I love when you have a camera that makes the videos feel like you’re riding. I’m too old and disabled to ride any more, so when you do that I kinda get the feel of riding again. Thanks for the wonderful ride.
Beautiful place to ride. Walter has the funniest facial expressions. When the video started his eyes were so wide open that you could see the whites of his eyes like he was terrified. lol. It looks like that is his natural look. He’s a nice horse. He would be awesome to have for trail rides.
This is my passion!! I can't ride anymore due to health reasons so being able to see that view between the ears through your eyes does my heart some good at least but there's nothing like doing it yourself!!!!
I think Walter when he trots , he is able to cover substantial amount of ground in the least amount of steps. Because of his anatomy he can achieve this correct movement . I’m not an expert on horses, I would compare the movement to a very well bred German Shepherd, when they are known for their flying trot without exaggeration and they are at the same time able to keep their back firm, steady to the point that you can balance a glass of water and it’s not going to spill. You have to see it to be able to recognize it. It’s beautiful to see the moment of suspension ! It’s like a well lubricated machine. I think this is what JR was trying to show the viewers. Very much appreciated ! Anyone that is looking for the movement should breed to this horse because it is very difficult to get. I have a German Shepherd with this kind of movement ☺️and it is amazing to see ! Hope you find the comparison interesting. I do very much enjoy your channel and wish you all the best ! Using common sense in raising and dealing with animals it is a key to success ! And it is evident that you are using it with pride . Congratulations and Best Regards 😊 Cheers from Canada !
🦋 What an amazing reach! He is an amazing natural! I know professional trainers that would absolutely love to get a colt or filly with this much natural talent, you are so very lucky. 🦋
Walter seems to be a pretty happy and content guy ❤ even from behind 😂 enjoying the trail. So lovely to watch❣ Only when you carried the whip he was like "uuuugh" 😳😂
Walter, you are one handsome boy! You have pretty eyes too; not at all goofy. Look at how pretty your tail flies, and you have that beautiful copper color. You are gorgeous!
Yeah old Walter may not be the prettist but those older MFT were great at the gait, my first MFT was one of those, and he was a great horse taught me about the MFT and he was a very consistant mover, I had three more later more "Modern" and much larger 16+ hands over 1250# built like a stout quarter horse but that boy could move, rode with a "little man syndrome" Hispanic guy that had a large walking horse that he thought was fast ,my horse Snickers stayed with and past him when he decided he was going to show off his walker, surprised and educated him he was not so fast, Snickers loved to move out. later I got another younger horse, Blazer and he was named that because he too was fast, he would pass any MFT in the club, but when asked they both would slow down and walk leisurely, great horses, we rode MFT for 30 years. We rode trails did a couple cross state rides 195 miles in 9 days, cattle round ups and MFT sure opened the Qtr horse peoples eyes on cattle work, even did demo rides at a horse affair week end demoing the MFT horses, had a blast showing off. did a couple club type shows with other gaited breeds and did really well, but time has caught up with all of us and we had to give up riding about 10 years ago, too hard with the old body to get on and off. Wife and I owned about 10 of them over the years, several large ones and several smaller ones for wife and daughter but we had a blast with them and even our grand daughter enjoyed them. made all the work worthwhile. good ride you had
I think that was an exceptional explanation of gaits and stride length for efficiency, Walter in his winter woollys shure doesn't look like the trail blazer that he is. Endurance horses are often excluded from the big races until they are over 6 years old championships are often won by horses in their teens I used to work for UAE Endurance the fastest horse we had was a Ahkal Tech / gated Arab mix the horses natural gates where walk running walk pace and gallop (lope) canter was just a disunited mess 😊 the only reason he didn't become the champion he could have been was because he lost his sight so couldn't complete without a guide horse and we could not find one who could match him on easy ground so we just had to get off and run him when there was logs another big obstacles you had to step up or down. But the real kicker was he wouldn't follow anyone into water when he wasn't at home. RIP light my flame (Sparks).
I thought Walter looked handsome and sturdy. I could tell that he was big because JR actually seemed a wee bit smaller.😅😂 Beautiful trail ride especially thru the pines. ❤
Whatever breed he is, Walter is a stunning horse. Just look at how he holds his head up and his ears as well. Looks like a whole lot of proud horse there. Be safe and enjoy 😊😊
Gosh JR, you (your soul) needs a Walter!! The difference between you going on a short trail ride while training one of your younger horses vs going on a longer pleasure ride on a horse that can handle your weight is striking! I made a comment before about when Oliver gets trained so you can go on pleasure rides and I know you will enjoy him, but you need a Fox Trotter that can handle your weight. Your love for the breed surely shone through while riding Walter!!! That you get great satisfaction in training your MFT's is obvious, but your enjoyment of just riding one without having to worry about being too heavy was very apparent!! I hope you get one. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Walter is amazing! The scenery was incredible. I could almost smell the pine trees and feel the crunch of the leaves. I love learning about your horse. Thank you every time JR. 🙂🙂🙂
Thoroughly enjoyed this video, thank you JR, Brian and Emory. Loved watching Walter's face, ears and mane as he was speeding along! Shout out also to your dog - front runner - who also enjoyed a superb run with the horses ❤ Walter has strength, a unique style, and personality. Watch those ears for alert intelligence ❤
Thanks for this very educational video. Despite watching many MFT show videos, ... I just could not understand the gaits. I'm too used to walk, trot canter. But your demonstration and measuring the hoof prints with your tape, plus your saying to concentrate on studying the hind feet, ..... well, ..... I could finally "see it". Still a bit unsettled about the constant bobbing of the head, but I have heard the saying that, ... "to ride one is to own one". Time will tell! You seemed to be having alot of fun, ... I'm happy you were able to have some fun with Sadie and your friend Brian. Looked like a beautiful day. God Bless. - ACD
Very interesting. Answered a lot of my questions. I really don’t like the look of a head shake, but Waters wasn’t so exaggerated, nice. Beautiful ride, thanks
It looks like you and Walter are having a great ride together. He seems like a really fun horse and super well-behaved.❤❤ thanks for sharing 😊 Thanks for the lessons on the foxtrotter gaits
What a joyful and educational video. Thank you for taking us with you and Walter on a lovely trail ride. As a person from the Thoroughbred world, Walter is so interesting to me. The slo-mo clips were every informative. I was trying to imagine what you meant about the front and rear hoof prints. The slo-mo showed it clearly. I would say the reason for his excellent gait is that Walter is a very balanced horse. He is quite beautiful in a different way from a Thoroughbred.
Wonderful video with you, your friend, and Walter❤❤ I enjoyed your explanation about Walter's gait. Thank you so much JR for being so generous with the knowledge you possess ❤❤❤
I LOVE joining in on your trail ride it brings back great memories of riding my horse with my friends all over the countryside around my district. My german shepherd used to follow along with us for kilometres and would turn up 10 or 15 minutes after we arrived at our destination. Wonderful fun!
Walter needs to go challenge Bagheera at Free Spirit to a friendly race... Bagheera's "buggy mode" vrs Walter's "walk". Like equine speedwalkers. It would be fun to watch So glad that Walter listened so well and didn't get you both hurt on the wire. Smart boy Walter.
@kathrynfowler9887 Shae is pegging her at 31. "Race" isn't meant to lather either horse but to see which one would be lagging to keep up. I think Walter and Bagheera would have a blast going cruising speed down the trail with each other not waiting for others to hurry up.
One more comment, loved seeing Walter but my goodness. You could tell he was a horse who was thinking "come on, less standing more moving" even when he was standing by you. LOL I am sure he was fun but I am definitely a more whoa than go kind of gal.
I've always had a mostly unfulfilled love for horses, & so, was aware of the Tennessee Walker but not the Foxtrotter. Not knowing anything about their gait smoothness, on the trail ride, it was very noticeable that the scenery didn't bounce or jiggle. Was that due to the horse's gait, or does the camera have that picture steadying option? I love to watch all that you do with all of your horses. Thanks for sharing & passing along y'alls tidbits of knowledge to us armchair riders.

K9tay the shiba way is using some of your video on their channel and it's not good!❤ the one with karen.
He is amazing!!!

@brendabirkenbach8533is that TH-cam
Handsome Walter!😂❤
Love the way you explain all this Horse talk for us two leggers. So much love put in to all your videos.
Agree 👍 I learned so much!! ❤Walter is very cute!!
I love when you have a camera that makes the videos feel like you’re riding. I’m too old and disabled to ride any more, so when you do that I kinda get the feel of riding again. Thanks for the wonderful ride.
Walter is very talented 👏 👏
Walter really moves🐎
Glad you said "well early teens " was "prime of life"
Go Walter!!!🐎💖
Walter is quite the Cadillac 🙏💜
Walter is a very handsome horse!!
He is gorgeous. ❤❤❤❤❤
Walter not only has a great long stride...but he is also sure footed and sure of himself! Very nice Fox Trotter!
Walter is an awesome horse. He moves like a magic carpet.❤ I love horses with smooth, extended gaits.
❤thank for showing us Walter
Beautiful and Gorgeous Walter!! Thank you JR! Love ❤️ your videos!! I really enjoyed this!! ❤❤❤
I really appreciated the slow-mo version̈ because my eyes aren't good enough to pick up the footfalls even at walking pace. 👍
The slo mo was great for showing the gaits different foot falls
❤ The Man From Snowy River reference!🐴

He is kind a goober lol

Hello Walter ❤
🦋 What an amazing reach! He is an amazing natural! I know professional trainers that would absolutely love to get a colt or filly with this much natural talent, you are so very lucky. 🦋
But unless that so called trainer knew about the MFT horses they can screw them up, seen a lot of that.
He is so beautiful
Walter seems to be a pretty happy and content guy ❤ even from behind 😂 enjoying the trail. So lovely to watch❣
Only when you carried the whip he was like "uuuugh" 😳😂
Omg look at his size and how he moves! Love it
What a wonderful video, thank you for taking me along, beautiful!
Walter, you are one handsome boy! You have pretty eyes too; not at all goofy. Look at how pretty your tail flies, and you have that beautiful copper color. You are gorgeous!
I totally agree ❤❤❤
😂the expression on Walters face was priceless😂 I don't think he is used to being filmed 😅 I enjoyed watching you ride him
Walter ❤❤

What a great name for a horse 😊 he even looks like a Walter
I loved the ride in the forest and seeing the water! It was delightful for me! Thank you JR, Friend with horse, and Walter!❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️🌼❤️
Thanks for the ride.
Wow! Walter’s amazing! He can really pick ‘em up and out em down! Thanks for the gait education- slow mo helped tremendously!
Fun! Boy Walter can move!
Yes, Walter is amazing! That was fun and interesting Thanks to Brian for sharing Walter for our education and entertainment.👍

I'm amazed by how smooth Walter's trot looked on the chest mount camera!😮
I thought Walter looked handsome and sturdy. I could tell that he was big because JR actually seemed a wee bit smaller.😅😂
Beautiful trail ride especially thru the pines. ❤
Walter, you're a beautiful boy, you move with beauty and grace.....
Whatever breed he is, Walter is a stunning horse. Just look at how he holds his head up and his ears as well. Looks like a whole lot of proud horse there. Be safe and enjoy 😊😊
JR & Emeri: As always, thank y’all so much for consistently informational and beautifully filmed videos!!❤️❤️❤️
GORGEOUS BOY YOU ARE WALTER!!!!!
Walter is a super horse. Yea Walter.

Beautiful 🐎💖
I really enjoyed seeing a trail ride, especially with you on the amazing Walter.
Can't thank you enough. About as close to riding one than I will probably ever be. You are an excellent teacher.
Very interesting, Walter looks like a fun horse to ride
Appreciate you explaining the gaits and the overreach. Helps a lot to see the slow down video with your explanation
Walter is a handsome boy. He can travel fast. Did either of his parents have a long stride? Love the country side. Love yaĺ
I loved that! I couldn't really see the over stride until you slowed the video, then it was so clear. Please do more videos like this.
What a great time❤ thanks for the adventure!❤
Nice calm horse and good gate. Walter is very handsome.
Walter is amazing! The scenery was incredible. I could almost smell the pine trees and feel the crunch of the leaves. I love learning about your horse. Thank you every time JR. 🙂🙂🙂

He's beautiful I'm in England never heard of a foxtroter before

So interesting. I learned something new. Thanks for the information.

Super to see a master trainer at work with great explanations for us non horse folk 😊
Thank you for explaining Walter's gait. I have no experience with gaited horses. Hope you had a great ride!❤
Oh I love Walter! My last Name!
Very cool! 😎
Wonderful video with you, your friend, and Walter❤❤ I enjoyed your explanation about Walter's gait. Thank you so much JR for being so generous with the knowledge you possess ❤❤❤

A beautiful day for an amazing ride, I'm envious. 🥰

Thank you for taking on this ride with Walter! I'm glad you wore the Go Pro lower so we can see the beautiful scenery.
Lovely hack through the woods and hills.
Walter needs to go challenge Bagheera at Free Spirit to a friendly race... Bagheera's "buggy mode" vrs Walter's "walk". Like equine speedwalkers. It would be fun to watch
So glad that Walter listened so well and didn't get you both hurt on the wire. Smart boy Walter.
Bagheera is a really fast 27 year old (or so) former Amish buggy horse. Wonderful horse. That would be a fun trail ride!
@kathrynfowler9887 Shae is pegging her at 31. "Race" isn't meant to lather either horse but to see which one would be lagging to keep up. I think Walter and Bagheera would have a blast going cruising speed down the trail with each other not waiting for others to hurry up.
@@Kat-gj9pq They would be beautiful, too ❤
One more comment, loved seeing Walter but my goodness. You could tell he was a horse who was thinking "come on, less standing more moving" even when he was standing by you. LOL I am sure he was fun but I am definitely a more whoa than go kind of gal.
Now if Brian had been on a mule he could jump the log standing still!!
Walter has a beautiful tail he is a beautiful horse
