Methodology
1) I gathered data from gameofthrones.fandom.com/wiki/Game_of_Thrones_Wiki. The .csv files containing search interest values were downloaded from Google Trends for every character.
2) Ammount Search Tool determined the average monthly search volume for every character.
3) The number of searches per month for each calendar year were proportioned based on official reports from Google.
4) Data modeling through an algorithm invented by me to obtain the most realistic data possible.
5) Search interest values and proportioned monthly search volumes were placed in Excel for calculations.
6) The data was placed into Flourish Studio to create the data visualization piece.
7) Image and audio assets were added with Wondershare Filmora.
Ned Stark- Died in Season 1 but kept alive for all 8 seasons. *The North remembers.*

sofia24 well the numbers are how many people search their character since the beginning of the show what would have been more accurate is instead of ranking by number of search since the beginning ranking by the average number of search in the last years that would have shown which character is more popular ( at least in therm of search ( I see you Cersei))

For the people saying that Dany isn't the most popular character on the show. She actually is. I remember before i started watching the show, i only knew her character because her face was literally everywhere. She is the one who got me into watching GoT. Whether you like her or not, she IS the most popular. Most Game of Thrones related posts or videos have her face as the thumbnail, because she's the one that attracts people into checking the posts. Take that video for example, her face is on the thumbnail. Y'all can't deny the fact that she's one of the biggest reasons why GoT is such a successful show.

Clare Weitzel yeah the last season felt like 5 seasons crammed into 6 episodes. But from season two onwards all she ever did was take cities and consolidate her own power, motivated my rage and self righteousness. If you didn’t see her death coming I don’t know what to tell you 🤷🏻♂️
Jason Visentin it’s not about seeing it coming, I love her, but I’d be completely fine with the mad queen arc if they carried it out better, if she never saved slaves, saved women from rape, killed slave holders, freed servants and such. She did more good than bad, but if she hadn’t, it would’ve made sense. It’s not the same character who stayed behind to make sure her people would be safe rather than travelling to take Westeros immediately, when it probably would’ve been easier.
I knew Daenerys would die. Everyone did, but her, Cersei, Jaime, the night king and so many other characters deserved better deaths.

Naw it’s not just you. He was and still is one of my fave characters in the show but the last two seasons, he became much more of a side character and his character didn’t shine through as much as it had before because of the bad writing. Daenerys Clarke because he wanted the material from the last two books to be stretched out over 5 seasons not two. The issue was pacing and a lot of missing material. I’m sure if he didn’t intend for Danaerys to die he would have mentioned it to the writers.

@@gallowglass3764 That was a mistake from the writers, I recommend you to read the book Fire and Blood and you'll see that the Targaryen wasn't crazy, they were just as normal as everyone else. And the people respected them, they never used their dragons to burn inocents like this, they used them in wars. The only crazy one was Aerys, the king Jaehaerys was the best king Westeros ever had.

My suspicion is that when GoT really took off and became this global phenomenon, George R. R. Martin saw how popular Danny was getting and said to himself, "Oh, sh*t". It's why he's been dawdling ever since.

Sorry, but I really don't dig this theory about writers or producers who must please their audience. People are free to like it or not, but if I want a story to end according to my tastes, I should just write one by myself. When I read or I watch films or TV series, I just want to enjoy a story written by another person, according to his personal taste.
@@Nimrodel84 i am sure u didnt like how it ended and if u did you must one of the rear ones, many tv shows that are based on books ended differrently, because sometimes movie producers know that that ending will not be excepted by the fans, or that ending will be controversial (in these case d&d made an idiotic mistake folliwing the map of grrm so they screw themself) when the story gets bigger than the books the author opinions is not that important. They can listen to him or they dont, but some series in the past that were based on the books ended better than in the books. and when you dont have a written book about the ending just an overal map like in this case u are not obligated to follow the author plan.
and lets be clear i am not saying you should please ypur fans, but treating most of the fan favourites like they were nothing and they didnt mean anything to the fans is jyst wrong, if they were going to kill dany anyway make that special let us the fans aknowlidge her death, let it sink in, do it in a repectful way, like lagertha in vikings, not like they did in season 8, rhis season ruined the show being proclamed the best fantasy tv show in history, and jyst because season 8 was awful many people csnt even rewatch it. it wasnt done properly.
