You’ve just destroyed the look of that travertine. If you look closely, when the fella is sponging off the grout from the tiles each pit is filled with grout. Terrible, there is no way to remove the grout from these holes once they’ve been filled with grout.
That's the idea - to fill the holes so the tiles are easier to keep clean though the holes are never completely filled so the rustic look of the travertine is retained.
I live in Houston and have a Travertine pool deck. I wish the contractor would have grouted. Because some of the natural hole in the travertine get filled with dirt or alge. I'm thinking of pressure washing everything and then grouting.
@@artguti1551 Same problem in the UK.. Employed a major UK company to re-fit our kitchen and they skimmed white grout all over the tiles, not only filling all the holes but losing all the colour variations.
Fantastic help doing this exact process for tiles outside around the pool. Thanks, heaps for this highly practical advice!
Are you using sanded or unsanded grout
How long between grouting and sponging off. Do you have to let it dry quite a bit or immediately sponge it off?
Fairly quickly
Is it an epoxy based adhesive or just the normal kind (bag mixed with water)?
Which brand and grout color used in this video?
Hi, We used limestone colour grout here. The make being Ultratile flexJoint.
Should you seal tile before grouting ?
Seal before AND after grouting
Do Americans do this to Travertine? or is this something only the Limey's do?
the tile layout is horrible.....the grout is way to loose and will turn into powder ,by making it that loose you weaken it......
It's still fine - it was done by professionals. It's the standard way to grout unfilled travertine if you want to fill the holes.

Are you using a standard grout just mixed with more water, or is it ready mixed in tubs?
Standard flexible grout@@robertkilliner7511
