That trail is a 2 day thing unless you are a gluten for punishment. But if you have the time it’s an awesome trail. Didn’t see another vehicle from Chicken Corners to just before Needles. Did it October 23. There is sometimes no gas near needles, we had to go to Monticello to fuel up. We then did Elephant Hill and Bobbie’s Hole. Ended up south of Blanding. What a blast, just bring extra fuel so you don’t end up going to Monticello.

We decided to do it in one day because our trailer with our tent, supplies, etc was back in Moab. I wasn't going to pull the trailer through this trail....but damned it was a long day, especially because we did Chicken Corners first.

We just did this trail last week and it was our first time and it took us 13 hours. Not prepared but will be next time on any trail. Plus we had full family that refuse to go again 😂 lesson learned thanks for the video

It is a helluva trail for sure. Not one to just "hey family, let's go do this trail today".

We did that trail in March. My Tacoma TRD mostly stock, just added 32's and rock sliders(which paid for themselves). Was absolutely epic

Really glad I found your channel, subscribed. Hopefully one day I can get a chance to go out there (Toronto, Canada) with my 4Runner.

7 hours? We spent 2 days on Lockhart, tons to explore and not many others to run into. An amazing campsite or two if you look hard enough! A truly hidden gem in this region…

I ran this trail in October 2022, and I agree with everything that you said about it. This is my all-time favorite trail. Just add any rig running less than 37's is going need a "little" momentum to get up double obstacle. Even with a good line and lockers you are going to have a tough time cresting that hill on smaller times at a crawl.

I’m curious how it would be backwards

At about 17:15 in the video you were approaching the site of the Utah Monolith, and nearby the old crash site of the Air Force jet trainer. And from there continuing south you can average a higher speed. When we were there we didn't see another vehicle in 2 days, but we came across a lone backpacker.

I did most of your trips in the late 90's. Have you been to Millard Canyon (watch for ravens) or the Dollhouse? Two of the most remote spots you'll ever visit.

We are doing the Maze District in October. I haven't heard of Millard Canyon, will have to look that one up

@@TrailTraveler Millard campground 6 hours from Hans Flat they say, with views of Buttes of the Cross. So amazing, I camped there in 2004. Started at Hite marina all day to Millard campground.

    • @TrailTraveler

The trail begins at the Chicken Corners sign and ends near Elephant Hill, then it would be about 70 miles on the highway back to Kane Creek (where you begin Hurrah Pass/Chicken Corners.

We are doing Dinosaur National Monument, White Rim (2days, staying at Hardscrabble like you did because I forgot to log on and get a reservation immediately) Top of the World and Lockhart Basin the week after EJS. Not sure if we are making Lockhart a 2 day or not.
