This film was completed back in Dec 2019. Miramax wanted reshoots - that didn't happen until 4 years later. Vertical would pick it up earlier this year for American distribution. I thought the film was broken. I was hoping Joshua Miller would've focused more on the things that happened on the Exorcist set as well as his father's experiences (on set). I guess I was hoping for more even though I had little expectation. Great review BTW!!
So saw the movie yesterday. I gotta say, I gotta agree with your review. I actually quite liked it. It was pretty solid, more than I thought it would be based on some of the reviews out there. I think, its probably more what the Exorcist Believer should have aimed to be based on tone, and the family drama, psychological issues, the slow burn, etc. I thought it was fairly effective in keeping me tense and I thought the scares were fairly good too. I think if the movie had been longer and polished a bit more it could have been higher up in ranking within this genre. But still, a pretty solid viewing. I felt invested the whole 90 mins of it.
I think Russel was in another horror movie last year? I do agree 100 percent with this reviewer, I seen it this last friday. the acting is good, the story was weak with too much jumping in time back and forth with no smooth movement. I noticed a lot of bad movies are being blamed on A I written scripts, of course there many human writers that needs to be taken to the woodshed on this issue. the lesbian relationship was a waste of time and many would consider it woke propaganda. And last for me for being in my sixties, I seen a lot of the same pop out, jump scares, they won't work on me as those who are not as experienced.
