@Babeth Guyot Hi Babeth! I haven’t played sonata K208 before. I will certainly make a tutorial on it because few people asked for it, but I am afraid it won’t be before the summer as I am busy with other pieces including 2 sonatas by Scarlatti. Hope you can enjoy my other videos for now! All the best
hello thank you for your message I ll be there in summer ready to learn good work and please tell me which pieces of Scarlatti you are going to show to us have a good day
Wow. Amazing instruction. A song with very few notes. Every note/ chord has such purpose and meaning. Voicing has made this song so much better for me now. Thank You.
Thank you! This was very good! I was already playing it like you showed because I just felt right but I never really focused or understood how i was doing it neither I wasn consistent with it. Now I know what to aim when playing it
Omg thank you so much for your content! I am a self-taught adult beginner who’s working on this piece. You have no idea how much your content helped me. I feel that after I practiced and managed to execute some of the things you taught, my performance is immediately boosted! I don’t have the patience to read and digest music theories so I always struggle to interpret pieces. Your video made knowledge accessible! They are practical. And listening to your tutorial can get me gradually get familiar with music terminologies. And everything is free.😂 👍Followed and will definitely watch your other videos!
Finally found the perfect channel. The real deal💎 Not every channel starts to breakdown pieces to such advanced tips and tricks that every pianist from any level can use. Thank you for your super useful contents, wish you the best❤️
Passei o dia todo estudando essa música e não conseguia harmonizar os acordes com a melodia. Bastou 2 minutos do seu vídeo para eu entender onde eu estava errando!
It’s the first ever piece I’m learning with a teacher (I started playing piano a few months ago) and this piece is already making me practice a lot of great dynamics. Your explanation has been brilliant and give me a lot of pointers to add. Subscribed and looking forward to seeing your other videos. Thank you for sharing this video. Now I must go and practice, especially ensuring in play my G7 chords smoothly.
Thanks so much for the tutorial Antune and for making available the sheet music for this piece. I really like the way that you have arranged and numbered the fingering.
Indeed. I just started learning this piece, which I have loved for many years. My piano teacher was telling me that a lot of people don’t realize how it ends… he knows a wedding pianist who changes the final chord to major so that if the bride uses this piece as her processional, it doesn’t sound so peculiar!
This is excellent! I've looked at several videos and they all just tell you what notes to press or state the obvious (which I don't see the point as if you can't read the sheet music you shouldn't be playing this piece). This is a well thought out video! I like the colours on the sheet music as you can see and visually feel the shape and flow of the piece. Subscribed to the channel! Well done Antune
This is a brilliant tutorial. Excellent work. I tried to find the music sheet that you mentioned (you said it is in the description). Did I overlook something? Thx and please keep up the great work.
May I suggest that you put the piano lower down on the screen so we can see all of your fingers. As it is the sheet music is covering some of the fingering. Thank you.
Thanks for the suggestion, however it doesn’t seem possible because the camera is fixed on my head. This is one of my older videos, so I hope my more recent tutorials are more comfortable to watch. If you need the fingerings for this piece, you can download the sheet music for free in the description where I wrote down all the fingerings. Good luck!
A beginner piece? Does ABRSM or RSM list it as level 1 or 2 piece (I do not think so). It is at least an intermediate piece. Thank you for your tutorial. Your approach is very interesting. The problem when learning this piece is that everyone plays it differently - there are different finger and hand distributions in the chords and emphasis on certain notes on chords. It is a weird (but fascinating) piece to learn. I have eagerly subscribed to your channel! Your tutorials are the best I have seen (even comparing with Tonebase).
Thank you for your video ❤ if I change the pedal at each melody with my right hand like you said I lost the bass in my left hand. It s better to change at each bass at the left hand no ?
Hey! Im having trouble downloading the music sheet from the link in the description, I put in my email and clicked to send the link to it, but when I go to check my email. there was no mail? please help!
You can let go of the F# just before playing the chord because the right pedal will keep it sustained. Then keep the F# with the right hand right before letting go of the chord. You can see how I do it around 6:53 In this way, F# will resonate throughout the 4 bars while you can simultaneously play the chords.
Hello @Antune Could you please help me understand why some pianists choose to play the chords with the left hand while others with the right hand. What would is the correct/best way to learn it for a beginner? Is it just a matter of preference or is there a broader explanation for this? Here’s an example of Rousseau playing the same piece differently: th-cam.com/video/2WfaotSK3mI/w-d-xo.html P.S: I appreciate your videos and knowledge - impeccable teaching and walkthrough.
Hi there! I believe the people who play the chords with the right hand do it because it feels more comfortable. I am not saying it is correct or wrong, but in my opinion, it doesn’t make any difference in terms of comfort, considering we have to play the chords with the left hand for most of the piece. I prefer to play them with the left hand from the very beginning because it is easier to distinguish both characters (the melody & accompaniment). Good luck!
@@Antune That makes a lot of sense to me. Thank you very much for shinning some light on this. Keep up the spectacular work - your way of explaining music and technique is by far my favorite! Cheers

@@Antune did you send that music sheet to me? I checked my email and junk mail but I didn’t see it. :( I’m playing the version from Pianote but I’m modifying it ie: playing low G not high G. I’d much rather have yours. :)
I love the tutorial but the camera movement attached to your head gave me a headache/motion sickness, which defeats the purpose of the tutorial a little bit. I think it's better if you just mount the camera on the tripod, dear kind sir.

This is the real deal. Not just another tutorial telling you what notes to play, but how to play them
For simpler songs with so much hidden complexities a tutorial like this helps to give you Satie like emotion to the piece which is where Satie shines

I wondered how to play the left hand chords which included the same F# you were holding for 4 measures with your right hand....
You can let go of the F# just before playing the chord because the right pedal will keep it sustained. Then keep the F# with the right hand right before letting go of the chord.
You can see how I do it around 6:53
