I don't think it was just about feelings, Nene might be the most qualified person to be on the stage and Towa probably knew that, and sure enough when the time came she blew everyone away.

I know that she asked the management to prioritize Nene's 3D (Which they were, obviously, since they did get her model out 3 months later than everyone else due to the base outfit change. That is record time since it's usually 4-6 months, so they already were working overtime on getting her 3D model done.) If anything, I can understand that she asked the management to speed it up, but if so, it would become not such a great model (See it as Pre-3D Flare compared to her Post-3d Flare), but I don't remember anything about Towa being a huge part of Nene's 3D?
Nene's 3D announcement will never fail to make me cry. She's just so genuinely happy and excited in that moment. And hearing her cry while finally being able to tell us and step onto the stage, after how especially hard she worked to get there, fills me with so much joy and pride ... i just can't help it
Also let's not forget why the 3D was delayed for her. She pushed for her new outfit first so that her 3D would be that outfit, because her original outfit, a chinese-inspired aesthetic (along with the verbal tick "aru" which is also very chinese in japanese manga), left an extremely bad taste in her mouth because of how much trouble west taiwan has been for Hololive, how they threatened Coco, and Haachama, and how they try to harass them in general.
She went through a lot, there was the Hologra where they advertised a live 3D event at the end and of course as they showed the banner with all the girls who would be there in order of gen the last three shown were Lamy, Botan and Polka... and then it was over T_T So she had to sit out the event while the other 5th gens were all there, and it was pretty depressing hearing her talk about it because clearly she was sad not being able to stand with the rest of 5th gen So when she was finally able to make the announcement it was extra emotional for her
Became a fan after seeing her first 3D live . She is on her own level . And was better in terms of technique and stamina i have seen in 1st Fes 2nd Fes or Bloom live events .

RE Nene's "RESTROOM TIME": The most adorable part of this aspect of her is that she tries so hard to align her eyes with the insides of the two O's as she goes out of the face tracker's range, which is hard to get right as you can see from her repeated failures.

I don't think there's a problem in redoing clips in situations like this. At least for me, I watch these videos not only to see you learn about the members, but also to learn more myself. I haven't had the time to dive into each member's streams and stuff as much as I should, and these videos are good supplementary material. Definitely no fake reactions, by discussing things you've already seen would be fine in my opinion

34:35 Just to clarify (since I was watching this stream), this was one of those times TH-cam shat the bed and the entire stream froze for like 10 minutes. IIRC this was a site-wide issue and tons of streams were having problems at that moment. Chat was still going and she was reading it and talking to them in the clip, which is the only reason she knew the stream was frozen, so they really couldn't hear anything she said until the VOD came out.
I get the feeling that Nene's follows the sacred rule of improvisation, she always says yes to whatever comes her way, no shame, no holding back. She also wants everyone to have a great time, which can be said of all the girls, sure, but it is so clear with her, and that's loveable.
For real though I've really enjoyed Nene more than I initially thought I would. She's goofy and she knows it, but she loves every second of it. And with her story of how she got the role to her needing to change models in January I couldn't be happier she is enjoying life to the fullest.
As a whole, Gen5 had a tough gestation: not only did they lose Mano that took a huge toll on them, they were in constant worry about getting upstaged by the new EN group. With this background Nene had it even tougher: she was rejected by Hololive in four consecutive interviews, had to learn to speak with another voice to the point that it became natural, and the "chinois" character design had to be revised after the Haato/Coco incident and the subsequent fallout that she had to deal with her 3D model getting delayed, etc. And yet she became one of the funniest and most cheerful characters within the Hololive universe is a great testiment to her as a person. By the way the little dancing root vegetable characters are meant to be mandrakes, rather than carrots.
@@MerCyInTheShell Her design was "chinois" rather than "Chinese" that could have been considered doubly-offensive by those who spend time and efforts to find things to claim to feel offended. In the early days she also had the habit of ending sentences with "aru", much like "peko" is to Pekora: that's pretty much a convention applied to "chinois women" in Japanese anime. With the aftermath of the Haato/Coco incident, Hololive realized that Nene was a time bomb that had to be defused, and that brought us to here.
I agree with practically all this, but the Gen V to EN thing is kinda reversed, and that in itself creates another weight to put on Gen V, if you get me. HoloEN was this nebulous, experimental concept, with a lot of the VTubing scene doubting it's credentials. The fear (or expectations, some 'fans' were genuinely pissed out of elitsim Hololive would try for an English branch, and thought it would lower the standard) was HoloFive would overshadow EN, not the other way around. So when Gen V debuts amidst Aloe's harassment and graduation, they then go on to see EN completely flip the script on everyone's expectations, and were THEN left feeling sorta out of place. Gen V wasn't the underdog, they were the latest in the hugely successful JP main branch, now down a member, and were expected to be the ones to pull in the numbers MOST of EN (minus Gura, her numbers from the start are just unreal) were pulling. That really did a number on their confidence, going off of what Polka, Lamy and even Nene has said. It's one thing to be the one overshadowed, it's even worse when the expectations of you from the off were you being the ones who may end up overshadowing the others, as that just compounds your sense of inadequacy. Best takeway from all this tho, is Gen V, in the long run, have benefitted greatly from EN, again Polka, Lamy and Nene have taken a lot of inspiration and strength from HoloMyth's members, in ways that MIGHT not have been so successful had there been no EN. EN's success is as much there's now, same for the rest of Hololive, as it should be seen.
You need to see the time when she used Lamy’s pants to get through rhythm heaven, it’s her cutest moment imo. The sounds she makes while playing the game plus the joy of beating it? Perfection

Man the fact that Nene failed her audition multiple times and never gave up Then we have the whole thing earlier this year, New years costume where she didn't one due to well, Her whole model having to be redesigned for obvious reasons Which then caused her to not only miss getting her 3D debut when the others did, BUT miss Bloom as well For her to continue to be the joy bringing, husband collection, bringer of chaos and insanity that she is is so inspiring. All this time I thought we were actually talking about Lamy's sweat. Sucks that you lost that footage. But luckily I think Nene might be the most clipable of them all. To think I was a bit worried about her at her debut, I was so happy she got through it. She quickly turned out to be one of the biggest positive surprises in Hololive.

Now that he's learned about both Nene & Lamy, he can appreciate the absolutely bonkers and hilarious moments of Nene constantly talking about borderline inappropriate topics with her. The "hair removal" one gets me in tears of laughter every time with just how exasperated Lamy is and completely unphased Nene remains the whole time.
I was waiting for this one. Nene was one of the ones I didn't really pay attention to at first, but after a few streams and clips, she really grew on me. She's such an adorkable cinnamon roll, I love it. One of my faves for sure. Such a sweet heart.

More things to love about Nene: Her wives are other Holomems. Female subscribers? Those are girl husbands. Nenergy. The most notable thing, as a whole, about that karaoke room stream you watched a clip of is that Nene couldn't. sit. still. through any of it. There's a similar one in that setting with her and Suisei, and you can watch Suisei in real time thinking "crap, I have to increase my energy here by at least 50% or I'm going to look like I don't want to be here". She draws all those adorable cartoony graphics AND she can draw "good". During a weeklong break, she was apparently egosearching "Nenechi" on Twitter, and came across a tweet in English saying something about forgetting her. She *immediately* posted in (translated) English a panicked tweet asking overseas viewers if they had forgotten Nenechi????????? She gave a like to some of the more passionate denials. As per above, Nene sez: if a sentence calls for one ? or !, it calls for seventeen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And (sorry to the ASMR haters) she knows that the #1 most satisfying ASMR sound is masking tape being peeled off the roll.
Just FYI, the reason she was kind of out of breath was not excitement, it was because she did a LOT of singing and dancing during this 3D live debut. Unlike most Hololive girls who kind of just sing, maybe move around a bit, she had all her songs accompanied by well-choreographed dance numbers, which was very difficult and VERY impressive. Her stamina during her 3D debut actually surprised many people.
Iirc Nenechi is/was an actual idol girl. So I think when she goes of the seiso path, that is something like a taste of freedom, compared to what she is used to in actual idoldom.

I've been waiting for this one for so freaking long, you have no idea. Most clippable gen 5 member and it isn't close. You load up her stream and you're much guaranteed some sort of odd ball visuals.
Nene is always about being unexpected and interesting. One of my absolute favorites due to her being such a hilarious and adorable dork. Nene in a nutshell is when she drew MSpaint hands on her avatar to pretend she's riding the rollercoaster in planet coaster. Or when her wait in mariokart takes too long she pretends to ride along with her avatar in an MS paint drawn car
About that "idols don't go to the toilet", it was never taken seriously, the term comes from the 80's in a group called Onyanko club, since saying "i'm going to pee" or "i need to use the toilet" was considered crude behaviour by the staff of said group the members were told to use excuses to go and do their deeds, this behaviour was noted by the fans since it was obvious where the members were going, when asked about this in a fanmeeting, one of the members (i can't remember which) answered with the now legendary "idols don't go to the restroom" out of panic, the phrase became a staple of the Showa-era idols and their unattainable and larger-than-life kind of image, it also reflects how much idols were controlled by the management back then, then came the 90's and the paradigm changed to a polar opposite, favouring idols that were approachable and charismatic, with groups like Morning Musume in the 90's and AKB48 in the early 00's, but still, the phrase would live on as a mockery of extreme standards and controlled behaviour in the idol industry, also is used to refer to the naivety of a fan thinking that his or her idol is above human necessities and is also used to denominate a part of the idol crowd that believes in the "old ways" of idolhood and has a unrealistic expectation of their oshi. Ex A: "just because your Oshi treated you well in a handshake event doesn't mean that she loves you Tanaka... either you're insane or you still think that idols don't go to the toilet" EX B: "Did you see that guy go on a twitter rampage because he saw his Oshi drinking with her friends? jeeeesh, he even pulled the "Idols don't go to the toilet" card in his repertoire"

And yes, in Korea they still use the idol denomination but just like in japan, only to artist who tag themselves as idols (or when the management promotes them as idols) making a separation between normal artists and the ones within the idol category.

Just the Nene stream Nagzz has on the background is pure gold. Neko Mikuri has an amazing clip of it on his channel, it's called something like "Nene, a vegetable hater, eats avocado every time she dies in Minecraft (and vomits). You guys should definitely check that clip if you've never seen it.

I don't know if they explained it in the cut but 3d really meant alot to Nene more so than most members because they had to get a new artist to make her a new outfit due to complications with the original artist and so she was held back didn't get a new years outfit like the rest of her gen they all went 3d around the same month month and a half period besides Nene and her being really close to those 3 and bonding with them probably being the closest thing to quadruplet conjoined twins you'll ever see especially after loosing the succubus early on they really clinged together their first year before making friends with the other members and even the girls she had this tight bond with were moving on without her and they felt so bad they used their original costumes in solidarity when they collabed so she wouldn't be left out so to finally be able to do join in with her 5th gen sisters meant the world to her
I REALLY wish you guys did, even just as an abbreviation of what you saw in the footage that was lost. Like, sure, it would not be his Genuine reaction, but we would also know what he knows about Nene already because this series of Nagzz Discovers also works VERY WELL to teach others about vtubers too. So when he said he knew about the husbands and the divorces, I was genuinely shocked. I WANTED to know what he had seen already and it also works as a refresher for me.
I wonder if they watched the shaving clip with Lamy on the lost recordings. That's a clip I managed to show my friends who aren't into vtubers and they were actually losing it haha. Edit: Also, in the part where she was saying poopy poopy, it was when TH-cam servers were acting up. I don't think there's a problem in redoing clips in situations like this. At least for me, I watch these videos not only to see you learn about the members, but also to learn more myself. I haven't had the time to dive into each member's streams and stuff as much as I should, and these videos are good supplementary material. Definitely no fake reactions, by discussing things you've already seen would be fine in my opinion

34:35 Just to clarify (since I was watching this stream), this was one of those times TH-cam shat the bed and the entire stream froze for like 10 minutes. IIRC this was a site-wide issue and tons of streams were having problems at that moment. Chat was still going and she was reading it and talking to them in the clip, which is the only reason she knew the stream was frozen, so they really couldn't hear anything she said until the VOD came out.
I get the feeling that Nene's follows the sacred rule of improvisation, she always says yes to whatever comes her way, no shame, no holding back. She also wants everyone to have a great time, which can be said of all the girls, sure, but it is so clear with her, and that's loveable.

For real though I've really enjoyed Nene more than I initially thought I would. She's goofy and she knows it, but she loves every second of it. And with her story of how she got the role to her needing to change models in January I couldn't be happier she is enjoying life to the fullest.
As a whole, Gen5 had a tough gestation: not only did they lose Mano that took a huge toll on them, they were in constant worry about getting upstaged by the new EN group. With this background Nene had it even tougher: she was rejected by Hololive in four consecutive interviews, had to learn to speak with another voice to the point that it became natural, and the "chinois" character design had to be revised after the Haato/Coco incident and the subsequent fallout that she had to deal with her 3D model getting delayed, etc. And yet she became one of the funniest and most cheerful characters within the Hololive universe is a great testiment to her as a person.
By the way the little dancing root vegetable characters are meant to be mandrakes, rather than carrots.

@@MerCyInTheShell Her design was "chinois" rather than "Chinese" that could have been considered doubly-offensive by those who spend time and efforts to find things to claim to feel offended. In the early days she also had the habit of ending sentences with "aru", much like "peko" is to Pekora: that's pretty much a convention applied to "chinois women" in Japanese anime. With the aftermath of the Haato/Coco incident, Hololive realized that Nene was a time bomb that had to be defused, and that brought us to here.
I agree with practically all this, but the Gen V to EN thing is kinda reversed, and that in itself creates another weight to put on Gen V, if you get me. HoloEN was this nebulous, experimental concept, with a lot of the VTubing scene doubting it's credentials. The fear (or expectations, some 'fans' were genuinely pissed out of elitsim Hololive would try for an English branch, and thought it would lower the standard) was HoloFive would overshadow EN, not the other way around. So when Gen V debuts amidst Aloe's harassment and graduation, they then go on to see EN completely flip the script on everyone's expectations, and were THEN left feeling sorta out of place. Gen V wasn't the underdog, they were the latest in the hugely successful JP main branch, now down a member, and were expected to be the ones to pull in the numbers MOST of EN (minus Gura, her numbers from the start are just unreal) were pulling. That really did a number on their confidence, going off of what Polka, Lamy and even Nene has said. It's one thing to be the one overshadowed, it's even worse when the expectations of you from the off were you being the ones who may end up overshadowing the others, as that just compounds your sense of inadequacy. Best takeway from all this tho, is Gen V, in the long run, have benefitted greatly from EN, again Polka, Lamy and Nene have taken a lot of inspiration and strength from HoloMyth's members, in ways that MIGHT not have been so successful had there been no EN. EN's success is as much there's now, same for the rest of Hololive, as it should be seen.

Now that he's learned about both Nene & Lamy, he can appreciate the absolutely bonkers and hilarious moments of Nene constantly talking about borderline inappropriate topics with her. The "hair removal" one gets me in tears of laughter every time with just how exasperated Lamy is and completely unphased Nene remains the whole time.

Just FYI, the reason she was kind of out of breath was not excitement, it was because she did a LOT of singing and dancing during this 3D live debut.
Unlike most Hololive girls who kind of just sing, maybe move around a bit, she had all her songs accompanied by well-choreographed dance numbers, which was very difficult and VERY impressive.
Her stamina during her 3D debut actually surprised many people.
Iirc Nenechi is/was an actual idol girl. So I think when she goes of the seiso path, that is something like a taste of freedom, compared to what she is used to in actual idoldom.

About that "idols don't go to the toilet", it was never taken seriously, the term comes from the 80's in a group called Onyanko club, since saying "i'm going to pee" or "i need to use the toilet" was considered crude behaviour by the staff of said group the members were told to use excuses to go and do their deeds, this behaviour was noted by the fans since it was obvious where the members were going, when asked about this in a fanmeeting, one of the members (i can't remember which) answered with the now legendary "idols don't go to the restroom" out of panic, the phrase became a staple of the Showa-era idols and their unattainable and larger-than-life kind of image, it also reflects how much idols were controlled by the management back then, then came the 90's and the paradigm changed to a polar opposite, favouring idols that were approachable and charismatic, with groups like Morning Musume in the 90's and AKB48 in the early 00's, but still, the phrase would live on as a mockery of extreme standards and controlled behaviour in the idol industry, also is used to refer to the naivety of a fan thinking that his or her idol is above human necessities and is also used to denominate a part of the idol crowd that believes in the "old ways" of idolhood and has a unrealistic expectation of their oshi.
Ex A: "just because your Oshi treated you well in a handshake event doesn't mean that she loves you Tanaka... either you're insane or you still think that idols don't go to the toilet"

I don't know if they explained it in the cut but 3d really meant alot to Nene more so than most members because they had to get a new artist to make her a new outfit due to complications with the original artist and so she was held back didn't get a new years outfit like the rest of her gen they all went 3d around the same month month and a half period besides Nene and her being really close to those 3 and bonding with them probably being the closest thing to quadruplet conjoined twins you'll ever see especially after loosing the succubus early on they really clinged together their first year before making friends with the other members and even the girls she had this tight bond with were moving on without her and they felt so bad they used their original costumes in solidarity when they collabed so she wouldn't be left out so to finally be able to do join in with her 5th gen sisters meant the world to her

I REALLY wish you guys did, even just as an abbreviation of what you saw in the footage that was lost. Like, sure, it would not be his Genuine reaction, but we would also know what he knows about Nene already because this series of Nagzz Discovers also works VERY WELL to teach others about vtubers too.
So when he said he knew about the husbands and the divorces, I was genuinely shocked. I WANTED to know what he had seen already and it also works as a refresher for me.
