Some call this "vigilante justice" but for some the vigilante is the only hope to obtain justice. Here is what I saw in the video: A drifter, a loner, a ex'con (Based on the prison tats) finds a gal who has been beaten, he knows the signs he's seen them in the past in a woman he holds dear. He makes the decision to help her, the only help he knows is violence. He has been to prison and knows he can do the time. He makes the choice to remove her from her prison, a prison of abuse and pain, he frees her.
When I found out a "judge" is slang for a type of revolver, the whole song was so much more powerful. I myself was rescued, luckily without any charges
Every one of us who went through the abuse wishes we had someone who would have just stood up for us.... maybe not to a fatal extent, but to make it stop.... someone he didn't know who could catch him off guard and make him think twice before raising a fist

Hell yeah, retired military, law enforcement . I cried like a freaking baby. I don't believe in vigilantantism. But this guy knew he was going to prison. Didn't run, didn't hide. Took it in the chin and accepted the consequences of his action. He sacrificed his freedom for her and the fact that after 5 years, she's still waiting in his truck,her safe haven. Knowing she will never be hit again killed me. I think of my daughters all the time. The only difference with me is knowing I would be going to prison anyway. I would have made him suffer. He got away too easy.

Yes ma'am we do. As a matter of fact 3 weeks and 2 days ago we got a call from my daughter. When we got there my daughter was put in her Daddy's truck and her brother and daddy simply said Wait in The Truck. Thankfully it didn't go to this point. But, we stayed in that truck.

This songs hit home so hard for me my ex when I was 18 was pregnant by me, her ex who was way older, seen her walking to 711 and beat her so badly she miscarried at almost 6 months pregnant. After he posted bail he called me saying he'd kill me. I said where r u, he told me where a bar, with the caviot of if you show up your getting shot. I showed up with 3 of my real friends and as we walked up to this bar we were jumped by about 15 people so I ended up pulling the pistol one of my friends told me to bring and proceeded to pistol whip this guy in front of his entire crew. Long story short I got aggravated assault with a firearm. Carrying without a license. And the real kicker while in prison she got back with him and they proceeded to rob my house. Don't be a hero you get screwed every time. Vigilantism isn't the answer I screwed my life at 18 and did 5 years in prison for it.
I've watched other reactions to this song. You can tell the people who grew up watching DV or experienced it themselves. They get quiet remembering things that this song brought back to the surface. Old pain. Yeah, you can tell.

First time I heard this song I was driving on the freeway and had to pull over cause I couldn't see from crying so hard. I just recently discovered this song and have watched a few reactions to it. It's absolutely heartbreaking to scroll through the comments and see how many women, including myself, can relate! We all know that the law doesn't help us until it's too late! My opinion is quite biased whether he was right or wrong in his actions. However, if I had been his attorney I would have bent, twisted and argued the justifiable homicide defense to fit his "crime"! Sometimes there's a reason if you find yourself lost in a small town you've never been to before at midnight! I'm so sorry for what you had to endure. I watched it happen to my mother. Had several encounters myself. My mother got us away from it by the time I was about 10 or so yrs old. It left me with a very short amount of patience and even shorter temper in regards to DV.

I'm sorry, I hit wrong button. I worked in social services for years, protecting adults and kids from abuse and neglect. But I didn't know how to get out of my own problem. Went to sheriff and lawyer but because I was married to my abuser. Law didn't protect me. But as stated before, God got me out. I thank him every night in my prayers 🙏 for that. This song was released just over 1 month after my ex attempted to choke me after slamming me into the wall. Luckily I had a "judge" of my own and a best friend who picked up on some vague text I'd sent and called 9-1-1 for me. But I can 100% say, I would do the same for any DV situation.

The chain of abuse needs to be broken, in ALL aspects!! I don't condone taking a life, but I will admit to being in more than one situation where, if I could have, I would have. He knew what had happened to her because he could relate to her because he possibly lived it.. with his mom and dad. He was taking the steps to save her from a future of abuse and death. It satisfies him to do that because of all the years of watching his dad to it his mom until he killed her and no one did anything to protect her and he was too young to help her. He is grown and took the steps necessary to protect someone. Now he is relieved and satisfied the guilt he carried for his own mom.
It's a sad story that happens every day, everywhere. Yet there are never real heroes out there to stop it. Men, women, and the justice system all need to step it up.

I was brought here from a reaction video I watched.... I'm a survivor of severe domestic abuse. I've had a broken spine, crushed wind pipe, broken bruised ribs, and collar bone. I've been choked out, beaten, tossed down a flight of stairs when I was 8 months pregnant, had my fair share of ICU stays and he would still manage to bail out and come back. He would do worse than before and then I was told if I reported it again I wouldn't even make it to ICU. I had been isolated from my family and friends, lived several hours away from anyone that I thought could help me. But the day the abuse was aimed at my then 9-month-old son (He picked him up and threw him at me like a rag doll) I found the courage to leave. He's the kind of person that changes the doorknobs inside out so when I would get "in trouble" I'd be locked in the room, or while he went to work. I am a firm believer that I would have been dead if I stayed any longer. My son saved my life. I believe that with all my heart. I had to wait until he was asleep, his mother helped me hide my son. I left with the clothes on my back and a backpack with any important paperwork. My siblings drove 6 hours to come to rescue me. I had to force my brother to just drive off after I got in the car and he saw that my eyes were bruised shut and I couldn't speak because my windpipe was crushed. He was so controlling that he drove out those six hours to my family's home with a shotgun to kill me and kill himself. Thankfully my father and brother were both there. This was almost 20 years ago and I still have anxiety attacks and PTSD from the physical abuse, rape, and mental trauma that I endured. But I am a Survivor. He was not a part of my child's life for many years until my son got older and never paid child support. I worked three jobs, went to school full time, became a psychologist to help others that have been through trauma, and continue to do so. I have since gotten married and had two children with the man that is "dad" to my son. HE raised him with me. HE paid for all his expenses, HE loves him as one of his own. That is what a Father should be. Sorry I got long-winded there.

Thank you so much for removing your son from that situation. Hopefully he has no memories of any of the abuse. Those memories haunt for a lifetime. Thank you SO MUCH for helping others. @@SaltyReacts three years ago I had a female cousin named Tiffany who an abusive ex boyfriend who one night beat her, cut her, & she had the blackest black eye I had ever had. After that night me, my twin brother, & my male cousins decided to teach him some manners. We grabbed after he left work & took him to a secluded place in the woods & beat his damn ass. When he was broken & bloody we picked him off the ground & dropped him off at his house. My twin brother Jared said that if he ever saw him near us or Tiffany we do more than beat his ass, we would take him the same spot we beat his ass at & kill him slowly & painfully & bury his body where nobody cop or otherwise would find him. We never saw him again. I guess we put the fear of God in him. Last I heard he moved to another state far away from us of Tiffany. Tiffany is doing better without that human piece of excrement in her life.

We have an amazing bond even to this day he's now been an adult for a few years and our relationships is stronger then ever. He is my best friend and protector as I am his. He grow up advocating for children that could not or did not advocate for themselves, and thus my home became a foster home for children, both children that ended up with me through the system, or those directly fleeing from their home and coming to mine before even making it to the system. For the message alone it is a solid song, we need more to standup and say enough when this kind of abuse happens to people. Man was not denying what he did, did not run, but this kind of abuser does not stop till someone stops him. and the sad part is if he had just drove on down the road with the woman, there is a 80% likelyhood she would have gone back to the same guy who was abusing her..... the thing is he knew the price and felt it was worth life because it is likely he was the avenging angel that woman needed.

I had to look at more detail of the firearm because there is a controversy about this. The firearm that he pulls out it is a Smith & Wesson 586 nickel plated 357 Magnum. When I first saw the firearm in the video I thought it was a 686 Smith & Wesson but I had to look at more detail. For that this has been said when she talks about the judge underneath the seat. It confirms to judge, jury and executioner. Just like the title wait in the truck some say that it is a southern slang ,in a way it is in the way it's not. There are more pickup trucks in the south than there is in North. He did it, knowing full well that he had nothing to gain from his actions and everything to lose. But he never gave his well-being a second thought. He just did what his conscience & character dictated with no hesitation at all. And her life is better as a result. These are the kind of people that, when presented with certain situations, like some soldiers in combat. They simply react as their nature dictates and completely disregard the consequences to themselves. In my humble opinion, this guy should not have spent even one day in jail. He just did what society and law enforcement all too often fail to do. He took out the garbage permanently. That guy had not only beaten this girl horribly and repeatedly but also threw her out into the rain. He was already working on another one when this girl’s savior busted through his door. So, this girl’s selfless savior inadvertently saved two women from this horrible fate.

Long story short I got aggravated assault with a firearm. Carrying without a license. And the real kicker while in prison she got back with him and they proceeded to rob my house. Don't be a hero you get screwed every time. Vigilantism isn't the answer I screwed my life at 18 and did 5 years in prison for it.

First time I heard this song I was driving on the freeway and had to pull over cause I couldn't see from crying so hard. He traded his life for hers. she was in her own Prison from being abused. at the end when you see her walking away free and him in changes it show the exchange his life for hers. and she also drives away in his truck free just like he drove in a free person in the beginning.

I just saw this song performed on some awards show and it blew me away. Today I got sucked down a YOU Tube rabbit hole looking at various reaction videos to the song. I don't know if its because we appear to be about the same age but your reaction was EXACTLY like mine. Although my wife says I would cry at a supermarket opening. I just recently discovered this song and have watched a few reactions to it. It's absolutely heartbreaking to scroll through the comments and see how many women, including myself, can relate! We all know that the law doesn't help us until it's too late! My opinion is quite biased whether he was right or wrong in his actions. However, if I had been his attorney I would have bent, twisted and argued the justifiable homicide defense to fit his "crime"! Sometimes there's a reason if you find yourself lost in a small town you've never been to before at midnight! And, sometimes doing the right thing and obeying the law are two completely different things!

I'm so sorry for what you had to endure. I watched it happen to my mother. Had several encounters myself. My mother got us away from it by the time I was about 10 or so yrs old. It left me with a very short amount of patience and even shorter temper in regards to DV.

I'm sorry, I hit wrong button. I worked in social services for years, protecting adults and kids from abuse and neglect. But I didn't know how to get out of my own problem. Went to sheriff and lawyer but because I was married to my abuser. Law didn't protect me. But as stated before, God got me out. I thank him every night in my prayers 🙏 for that. Then I thank him for my current husband. A very good man. Miracles truly happen. May God bless you and yours for the rest of your days.

This song was released just over 1 month after my ex attempted to choke me after slamming me into the wall. Luckily I had a "judge" of my own and a best friend who picked up on some vague text I'd sent and called 9-1-1 for me. But I can 100% say, I would do the same for any DV situation.

Meeting someone like him 40 years ago would have changed my life. Watching this is so very hard for me. Your reaction was pure & beautiful. Your "unspoken" words understood. The chain of abuse needs to be broken, in ALL aspects!! I don't condone taking a life, but I will admit to being in more than one situation where, if I could have, I would have. When the abuse reaches that point, there is no rational thought process, survival is the only goal!! The song is also absolutely incredible!!! Amazing & haunting at the same time. He knew what had happened to her because he could relate to her because he possibly lived it.. with his mom and dad. He was taking the steps to save her from a future of abuse and death. It satisfies him to do that because of all the years of watching his dad to it his mom until he killed her and no one did anything to protect her and he was too young to help her. He is grown and took the steps necessary to protect someone. Now he is relieved and satisfied the guilt he carried for his own mom.
It's a sad story that happens every day, everywhere. Yet there are never real heroes out there to stop it. Men, women, and the justice system all need to step it up.

I was brought here from a reaction video I watched.... I'm a survivor of severe domestic abuse. I've had a broken spine, crushed wind pipe, broken bruised ribs, and collar bone. I've been choked out, beaten, tossed down a flight of stairs when I was 8 months pregnant, had my fair share of ICU stays and he would still manage to bail out and come back. He would do worse than before and then I was told if I reported it again I wouldn't even make it to ICU. I had been isolated from my family and friends, lived several hours away from anyone that I thought could help me. But the day the abuse was aimed at my then 9-month-old son (He picked him up and threw him at me like a rag doll) I found the courage to leave. He's the kind of person that changes the doorknobs inside out so when I would get "in trouble" I'd be locked in the room, or while he went to work. I am a firm believer that I would have been dead if I stayed any longer. My son saved my life. I believe that with all my heart. I had to wait until he was asleep, his mother helped me hide my son. I left with the clothes on my back and a backpack with any important paperwork. My siblings drove 6 hours to come to rescue me. I had to force my brother to just drive off after I got in the car and he saw that my eyes were bruised shut and I couldn't speak because my windpipe was crushed. He was so controlling that he drove out those six hours to my family's home with a shotgun to kill me and kill himself. Thankfully my father and brother were both there. This was almost 20 years ago and I still have anxiety attacks and PTSD from the physical abuse, rape, and mental trauma that I endured. But I am a Survivor. He was not a part of my child's life for many years until my son got older and never paid child support. I worked three jobs, went to school full time, became a psychologist to help others that have been through trauma, and continue to do so. I have since gotten married and had two children with the man that is "dad" to my son. HE raised him with me. HE paid for all his expenses, HE loves him as one of his own. That is what a Father should be. Sorry I got long-winded there.
Sorry it took me so long to respond, Nariah. Each time I read your story, I am simply crushed with tears rolling down my face. I am beyond sorry that you had to go through such an ordeal. Thank you so much for removing your son from that situation. Hopefully he has no memories of any of the abuse. Those memories haunt for a lifetime.

@@SaltyReacts three years ago I had a female cousin named Tiffany who an abusive ex boyfriend who one night beat her, cut her, & she had the blackest black eye I had ever had. After that night me, my twin brother, & my male cousins decided to teach him some manners. We grabbed after he left work & took him to a secluded place in the woods & beat his damn ass. When he was broken & bloody we picked him off the ground & dropped him off at his house. My twin brother Jared said that if he ever saw him near us or Tiffany we do more than beat his ass, we would take him the same spot we beat his ass at & kill him slowly & painfully & bury his body where nobody cop or otherwise would find him. We never saw him again. I guess we put the fear of God in him. Last I heard he moved to another state far away from us of Tiffany. Tiffany is doing better without that human piece of excrement in her life.

We have an amazing bond even to this day he's now been an adult for a few years and our relationships is stronger then ever. He is my best friend and protector as I am his. He grow up advocating for children that could not or did not advocate for themselves, and thus my home became a foster home for children, both children that ended up with me through the system, or those directly fleeing from their home and coming to mine before even making it to the system. He's a helper like me he says. Makes me beam with pride! Thank you again, and have a wonderful blessed day.

For the message alone it is a solid song, we need more to standup and say enough when this kind of abuse happens to people. Man was not denying what he did, did not run, but this kind of abuser does not stop till someone stops him. and the sad part is if he had just drove on down the road with the woman, there is a 80% likelyhood she would have gone back to the same guy who was abusing her..... the thing is he knew the price and felt it was worth life because it is likely he was the avenging angel that woman needed.

I had to look at more detail of the firearm because there is a controversy about this.
The firearm that he pulls out it is a Smith & Wesson 586 nickel plated 357 Magnum.
When I first saw the firearm in the video I thought it was a 686 Smith & Wesson but I had to look at more detail.
For that this has been said when she talks about the judge underneath the seat.

Just like the title wait in the truck some say that it is a southern slang ,in a way it is in the way it's not. There are more pickup trucks in the south than there is in North. It's actually comes from when a man is protecting a woman he wants her in the pickup or the vehicle where she will be safe because it's fixing to go down

He did it, knowing full well that he had nothing to gain from his actions and everything to lose. But he never gave his well-being a second thought. He just did what his conscience & character dictated with no hesitation at all. And her life is better as a result.
These are the kind of people that, when presented with certain situations, like some soldiers in combat. They simply react as their nature dictates and completely disregard the consequences to themselves.
In my humble opinion, this guy should not have spent even one day in jail. He just did what society and law enforcement all too often fail to do. He took out the garbage permanently.
That guy had not only beaten this girl horribly and repeatedly but also threw her out into the rain. He was already working on another one when this girl’s savior busted through his door. So, this girl’s selfless savior inadvertently saved two women from this horrible fate.
