I'm glad you are doing okay. Please stop apologizing for no video last week, I'm sure I speak for many when I say, your health and safety comes first. That heat can be a killer, literally. I am thankful for you both and all the enjoyment you provide to all of us watching on. Thanks and be well.🙂
Never heard of Puddingstones, bonkers, but cool. Love rocks and minerals, I kind of collect them, gem stones and their meaning, birth stones, love them,
I'm glad you're feeling better, Kate! The state of Michigan in America has pudding stones with beautiful inclusions. But the ones you're finding are awesome, too! Good to see Oscar out with you!💖
No need to apologize at all - for what better medicine is there in the world than a walk in the English woods, even if vicariously 😄 Also very pleased to learn about this, and now I have a new favourite stone! 💘
I didn't know there was a Hertfordshire Puddingstone. Check out the pudding stones found in Michigan USA on TH-cam MICHIGAN ROCKS. Great information on these stones. Katie, I am glad you are feeling better, take care of yourselves!
The pudding stones are marvelous! We have pudding stones in the USA , but not Hartfordshire type. Yes! The heat is very concerning, to say the least! Please take good care of each other.🙋♀️💕💕🎈🎈🎈
Another person advocating for Michigan pudding stones! If you ever get the chance, please visit northern Michigan and look for pudding stones and petoskey!
Aaargh!!! Yes! Puddingstones. We lived our early years in Hertfordshire and my sister used to have nightmares about the Puddingmen! Beings she'd created in her mind, rooted in the look and myths of puddingstone!! 😱
So exciting! I didn’t know you had a type of pudding stone. Here in Michigan they have red jasper and other inclusions. I have seen one the size of a person under Lake Huron ❤
I was just going to say the same! Michigan Rocks made me fall head over heels for pudding stones, even more than Petoskey stones! He runs a great channel as well.
Our Fluer and Kate you are so loved and appreciated!! I love to always see the wonderful things to bring to us!! I understand the heatwave... Ughh it has been so hot here in Colorado. I pray for.you always!
These are quite different in color from the pudding stones found in the US. If anyone is interested, Michigan Rocks You Tube channel has many episodes filming him finding and polishing them. Thanks for sharing and pmease stay cool!!!
Pudding stone is found across Michigan, around the Ontario peninsula, and less commonly on the surrounding coastlines of the Great Lakes. Each location these stones are found in offers a different conglomerate of materials making up the stones. I have always wanted to visit Michigan to search for these lovely, interesting stones! You are so lucky to have found some! Also, while we, your audience, miss your videos if you fail to post, we ALL understand the vagaries and vicissitudes of life and just hope you are safe and well!
For me, here on the coast of Georgia, the heat is really bad. But then in the early evenings, we get thunderstorms and rain. This does not cool us down but makes it like a Turkish bath! So please, with the heat in Britton, and your country not used to this type of heat, be careful, drink plenty of water and don't venture out until the cooler times. I hope Kate is feeling better.
Always a pleasure to watch what you both are up to, Oh and Oscar 👋 I've never heard of the pudding stone. Quite a story. Kate you couldn't have manoeuvred more gracefully over that fallen tree if you tried 😂😂 mum got a good kick out it, love your wicked sense of humour Fleur ❤️
My grandparent's farmhouse in Hillman MI was faced entirely with what we call puddingstones. I'm not sure if it's the same stone as yours. Our stones are gray with red stones in them, they kind of look like they are splattered with red paint. Lots of old houses in that area are made of puddingstones. Didn't realize they were so rare.
@@zw5509 That's pretty neat! My grandmother hand-picked all the stones for the house when my grandfather was clearing the fields for farming back in the 1910s.
@@janezempel248 It's fun to see all the folks with connections to Michigan commenting. My grandparents' home in Hubbard Lake had some nice pudding stones incorporated into their porch. Even as a child I thought they were lovely.
What a fun rock that holds more rocks! Love the history, learning is living, I say, and I learned something about Puddingstones today, I must be alive!💖🥰🤗
Hi what another interesting story for us all. Very different. Great Britain is so full of history and thank you 2 for sharing your adventures with us looking forward to the next adventure 😀 🥰❣👍
In times past in the US, stones were mixed w/cement for sidewalks etc. This made the cement stronger and more durable (last longer). I don't think that qualifies as one of your "pudding stones", but when I saw what you found, it reminded me of older/better cement! They have an interesting history from your research! Thanks for taking us with you 😊!
How fun! Puddingstone is a favorite of mine! Found here in the US in Lake Michigan. Always bring a small spray bottle or be prepared to lick a rock🤣🤣🤣 This was a fun adventure, thank you for sharing💖
Wonderful you found pudding stone! Actually, I have seen pudding stone in several of your videos by the water, I will have to go back and try to find those for you. the stones in it look like chert! It would be so great for you to get a stone slicer and grinder to make Jewlery! The chert stones make great beautiful cabochons, and you have such a variety of chert and chalcedony there!
Interesting outing… Fleur, you picked up a geode just before you appeared in the video. It had crystals in the middle and would have been quite pretty washed up. It must have been difficult choosing just two stones to keep. I look forward to your next adventure.
Hello Kit & Caboodlers, love watching your channel. When you mentioned pudding stones I immediately thought of the youtube channel Michigan Rocks. Search his channel and you will find out what Pudding Stones look like in the US. Grace and Peace.
When I was a child, I walked woods of tranquility. Nestled deep in the arms of a hollowed out oak. A candle danced shadows ,cast a spell on me,the wind in the branches soothing words spoke.
I found some pudding stone yesterday rockhounding,if you ever fancy polishing a piece up,buy some diamond disc pads off Amazon,You Can get a 15pk for around £15-20,and either an old angle grinder or variable speed sander, they polish up beautifully,if you want to cut them down, just a used tile cutter is fine, cheap lapidary at home,I love it.
I spent my youth running around in those woods , whilst my dad was in the pub. I'd try to catch a golden pheasant that lived there and once slept in a large hollow tree. You brought back great memories.
Walking the shores in Michigan I have found a few. Because they are constantly being washed and worn with waves they are quite bright. I absolutely love the folklore, lovely. Thank you.
Michigan USA also has the Pudding Stone as their State stone (so called by English settlers). It has a different concretion base with jasper, agate, quartz and chalcedony.
In the Boston Ma. area you can find Roxbury Pudding Stone. One church dug a foundation and found enough stone they were able to cover the outside with it.
Hello 👋 from New York USA those Pudding 🍮 Stones are Absolutely Beautiful Thank you for Sharing them with me I can't wait to see What you Guy's find next 😀 😊
how interesting never heard of pudding stones or the mysteries behind them, thank you both. Thank goodness the heat has eased and Kate I hope you are feeling better💛🧡🤎
That stone @ 6:00 would make a sweet bird bath for the yard at The Larks house....... i have a michigan pudding stone from a friend , he sent a Petosky stone.... fossilized coral, name after An Indian Chief, I believe...... hugz
Loved this one ! I am fond of pudding stones, I don't have one but I love the different sizes and shapes , especially the colorful one in Michigan . Great Job Ladies , and enjoyed the History behind the stones . Thanks for sharing again !!! 🤗💞
I've never seen a pudding stone like that. The ones in the USA are very different. So it may be true that your puddingstones are very rare and only found in that one area! How exciting!
Never knew of a pudding stone. In Texas small stones are placed in concrete to make it stronger. Your stones are natural so it makes it more exciting. They are beautiful. Thanks for the day out and the history lesson. 💖
So interesting, I’ve seen many here in New York and always have been fascinated by them. I’ve seen them in stone walls here in the northeast. I never knew that they had a name. I’m so glad you are well Kate. You are both so special and I love every video on both channels. Thank you for such interesting content. Lots of love from Diane in upstate New York. If you ever come across the pond you’re welcome.
When I lived in suffolk I had a lovely pudding stone but left it behind when I moved. Lovely walking through that wood makes you feel so cool. Glad you found some and I hope it protects your house with it front and back. tay safe and thanks for the video.
Being a lover of rocks from the time I was just beginning to walk as a child I found this quite fascinating I still pick up interesting stones when out and about, even cities have treasures. 🙂
That was very interesting. Yes you guys have been experiencing extreme heat. I'm in New Zealand & its winter here. I wonder if our summer will reach extreme temperatures too. Stay cool, even watched Nicola Whites lastest video. Nicola dawning a sun hat & in shorts..
Very interesting about the belief of your pudding stones! Actually really cool! Michigan has a puddingstone! I even traveled there from Az in search of one! Unfortunately a resident in Michigan gave me all the wrong places to look for some lol so sadly I went and came back from Michigan empty handed of the infamous pudding stone. However came back with some beautiful stones! Another great video from you two lovelies! I had a good chuckle when Kate crossed over the branch in her dress! :) and definitely don’t apologize for no video or it being short. I’m in the desert so I know heat!! Just keep yourselves healthy! ❤️ much love, RJ
This was unusual as I didn't know Hertfordshire had pudding stones. That very first pudding stone Kate picked up, looked to me like it had a face of a frog lol this was a good adventure and glad you found some. The bluebells seems ages ago when they were in flower. Take care and see you soon
I believe I have seen those in Ontario too..but I knew nothing about "pudding stones" so just thought they were probably made during the ice age, when everything got tumbled around and changed.
Yes, we have lots of them over here, people even build their homes from them like brick homes. there all over these fields here. We call the homes built from them fieldstone homes. Stay safe and cool.
This is very interesting because I didn't know that Britain has its own pudding stones. I knew that michigan pudding stones has quartz matrix and red jasper is the very valued and sought after pebble to be found in them. I know that from youtube videos too. 😀👍
They have a similar conglomerate stone matrix found in southern Colorado where my Brother lives. I’ll have to find a couple nice pieces next time I visit. Thanks for sharing the information
I have actually found 3 pudding stones in Arizona, US. One was very large and we couldn’t carry it home with us, so we gave it away to another rock lover.
That was brilliant! 65 years old and you two lovelies are teaching me about stuff I never knew! Pudding stones! Who would have believed it?
