      Not really. They would eat it only if there is nothing else to chew on.

    Freshwater shrimp are amongst my favorites.

    • @Shaden0040
      @Shaden0040 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are not shrimps but rather fresh water aquatic isopods, their land dwelling cousins are called rolly pollies, pill bugs, and sow bugs. They are only distantly related to crustaceans (shrimp lobsters, crabs,)and belong to the Arthropod family. They may be more closely related to Trilobites and horseshoe crabs. They do have a deep sea cousin that can get up to a meter long. It lives on the ocean floor eating any organic decaying and dead matter it can find.

    Bro can you do a video that show all of your aquariums and tanks

    • @4me
      @4me  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Showing just to show makes no much sense to me. However, I do show most of my aquariums in videos where I explain aquarium care - light in particular. So, in those videos you can see my aquarium stand with a couple dozen aquariums on it as I keep it - not just for recording videos if that is what you want to see ;)

    Is it normal that they lay on the bottom of the aquarium on one side and move their little legs?

    • @4me
      @4me  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scuds usually move around...I've seen them stay still (resting I suppose) hanging on plants. I could not see what they do on the bottom of the aquarium covered with gravel, unless they get between the wall and the gravel.

    Does detritis from scuds produce high amonia concentrations and evetually kill them? Can I keep than without duckweed in the tank, changing water once a week?

    • @4me
      @4me  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bacteria, algae, aquatic plants and plants growing with roots in water seem to be doing fine job keeping healthy balance in my aquariums with scuds. Ammonia certainly did not spike high enough in my settings to kill scuds. You can use any aquatic plants - duckweed is just one of those that I've been using.
      I don't change water in my aquariums. So. I cannot tell you for sure if changing water once a week will do any good in this regards. Try and see how it works for you either way ;)
