I was really surprised how hot it could get and it did a good job for a cardboard box. When I do it again I will put foil on the pan when cooking a cake though. Thanks and take care

Outstanding Cardboard Oven there fun to cook with! You can use metel Skewers for the rack. Awesome 436F. That is the money shot looks good!

Hey Rusty, U cooked and Ur wife will love the food, and U did not even make a mess in the kitchen.... BTW, U would be amazed at how warm that box oven would become with a 100W light bulb in it, U can easily get over 300F, I made a hot box, (used a large Christmas cookie tin), to make a heater box for the oil pan on my diesel tractor.... Made this today..... Blueberry Muffins came out tasting like Delicious perfectly grilled Hamburgers with a fancy Berry tang to it..... If only I have cheese, pickles, lettuce, katsup and hamburger buns I'd have myself a feast.

Neat, now that I know how to cook cake without an oven it makes me want to get off the grid and go live in the woods. I just couldn't do it before because I was not ready to give up cake!!!

Oh Yeah! Smoked Cake! Now that is some fun cookin'! Now I am wondering if you place a Hot Bulb in there will you have a DIY Easy Bake Oven?...lol.
Nice oven Lloyd. About 10 or so years ago now, when I was boating someone gave me a small inverter. I loaded up my slow cooker, had a days boating and when I got there, a nice hot meal ready for me. Works well on a car journey too.

If you only bend over one end of the rods, you could reuse them if you wanted to. I'm guessing your box will wear out long before the rods. A very interesting project.

My Mom was the Orange County CA Cookie Depot for Girl Scouts for 30 years. She made 3 and would cook Turkeys in them on our Camping Thanksgiving Weekends. They would be used every weekend when we went camping and on Vacation in the High Sierras. We had 3 that lasted over 10 years. I made 1 for my Husband during desert Storm and shipped to him He loved it! These are Great and very sturdy if Made right! Thank you Rusty I am subscribing for more content!

In other Box Oven video's they have said that you can adjust the Temp by the number of charcoal ( About 25 Deg. per piece of charcoal ) you add to the oven.

Dang, the inventions that linger in your head are just amazing my friend. I wonder how it would taste if you loosely placed a single sheet of tin foil over the top of the cake while it baked. Might help keep the smoke from permeating the cake... or not. Still the coolest thing I've seen in a while - thanks for sharing!

depending on the coals an not using lighter fluid im sure it can be perfected for a good outdoorsy flavor
