    I honestly don't know how many times I've watched this video, it's definitely one of my favorite ones. Please do more POV videos Reg. Thank you!

    Excellent Reg - really benefited from the different POV. Since viewing your most recent videos I've been experimenting with cornering and overtaking in one gear lower than I sometimes would normally and am already seeing the benefits. Incidentally - another 'downvote'!? Who on earth would downvote this video? Is it Mrs Local 'cos you're away out in the car filming again? lol

    Great video, Reg! Thoroughly enjoyed it! Need to seriously plan to come over to Scotland. Fantastic drive! Very informative as well. POV is great as one can also see the mirrors and where you look!

    Reg, I've just discovered your channel. This is brilliant. I passed my IAM about 10 years ago (whilst an ADI,) with exactly this type of drive/skills in mind. It's good to see video showing that Advanced Driving is about more than string back gloves and chrome radiator badges! Heel and toe, brilliant. Keep it up.

    I now reckon touching 90mph occasionally
    On a 60mph limit road ......

    I really like this video... just come back to it after a couple of year and some ROSPA training. It is so useful to see you put into practice all the points I'm supposed to have learned. I'm still miles of your standard! ** Could you make another one like this **. In this one the roads really flow. It would be good to see how you adjust your style when the roads are narrower and closed in by hedges making the opportunity for early observations more tricky.

    2.02 : I might be wrong but I think the M135i’s speedo goes to 160 .
    Therefore , if the speedo needle is vertical , that’s 80mph....

    When the white line is dashed/broken, there is no reason why you can't be taking a lot more of it (taking position on the offside) in order to increase vision... when coming through some of the overtakes and the road continues round to the left staying out really maximises the available vision ahead.

  • @TheFuzzy0ne

    It's interesting how you have your side mirrors adjusted. I was always taught that you should be able to see a bit of your own car. Other than a wider field of vision, are there any other advantages? How do you deal with reversing? Do you move your head to see the edge of your car in the mirrors, or do you adjust your mirrors first? Also, I noticed the top of your instrument cluster is hiding behind the top of your steering wheel. I take it you had the camera above your eye level?

    What are the conditions when it’s acceptable to straddle the white line? Isn’t that the kind of thing that would get you pulled over if spotted?

    Thanks reg. would you make a mock test video for the aspiring IAM/ Roadsmart/RoSPA candidates and perhaps show Masters level too?. I could have used one when I was first getting into AD and Mr Gilbert was all there was to watch. Just a thought.

    Great stuff, but ...
    What does National Speed Limit really mean? Some of these vids suggest well in excess of 60

    • @davidfoster1762
      @davidfoster1762 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I reckon 80+ at times.
      Which is breaking the law.
      Renewed my car insurance today and got chatting with their representative re this video. Interestingly they said that some of their difficult customers are ex Police trained drivers who are not unknown to regard rules of the road as not applying to them.....

    I do enjoy these, a lot. The commentary explaining your thought process is very helpful. But I do detect an enthusiasm for speed. Knowing how to drive well, and safely, at speed is important, especially for police vehicles, but surely the average driver shouldn't need to be driving in excess of 80 mph on a country road (2:11).

    • @bleensteen9331
      @bleensteen9331 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The point is to drive according to principles that maximise efficiency of progress vs reasonable expectation of safety. 80mph is above the blanket legal limit but aside from that if you can travel safely at 80 , it's 33% more preferable than 60. The fact it's more fun too is a plus, but there are many times where he could have driven faster and more aggressively in the pursuit of fun, but chose not to in the interest of safety.

    • @davidfoster1762
      @davidfoster1762 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nobody should be driving at 80mph on a 60 mph limit road .
      To do this in a video about driving well is incredible.
