I'm from Detroit and Michael was the Bob Seger of Ohio which is a high compliment. MSB was my favorite band, while playing in several bands I made sure that we did a few of his tunes. If anyone deserves to be in the HOF it's these guys.
That was masterfully done. Lived near Cleveland growing up when MSB was huge. Left to join the Air Force and lived away for thirty years until I retired. My bucket list concert was MSB. Just as I was planning a trip to CLE, he unfortunately passed away. Thank you for taking the time to produce this excellent tribute.
I kept seeing this video on my feed, but didn't want to watch it because I didn't think I could take it emotionally. I seen Michael and the band live many times, at Blossom, and even a free show once at the CART race at Burke Lakefront Airport one year on my birthday. A coworkers sister once took care of him when he was at the Cleveland Clinic once for a checkup for his heart. It hit me extremely hard when I heard of his passing. He was once of my musical heroes as well as everyone who grew up in Cleveland. Thanks for this tribute to the man and legend.
I was there on the first night of that four night stand at Blossom. Also, don't forget the WMMS appreciation day free concert in Cleveland Stadium parking lot. There were well over 100,000 there It was pretty crazy.
A few years before he passed away, I was at a the movie theater in Mentor to see Zodiac. Standing in the concession stand line. In front of me was Mr. Stanley! A woman next to him , looked at him, and asked him " don't you play on T.V.8 with Jan Jones? We both had a good chuckle about that. Very polite man , who is missed.
Love it ha … Funny enough I met him once in a restroom and obviously I didn’t want to interrupt him doing his business.. Or follow him out the bathroom But unfortunately I never got another chance.. Kinda wish I interrupted him in retrospect…
Awesome tribute. I miss Michael Stanley. I have every CD, Record, almost every cassette and 8 track tape. Yeah, it took me a long time to hunt them all down. His stuff is really hard to find. Cabin Fever is my favorite album. My Mom and Dad had Heartland on cassette, Cabin Fever, MSB, and North Coast on Record and North Coast on 8 track. They now have Heartland on CD. By the way, putting tape over the holes on a cassette makes it vulnerable to being recorded over. You want the holes uncovered or the safety tabs removed to protect it's recording. R.I.P. Michael Stanley. March 25, 1948 - March 5, 2021 🕊⚘️✝️ We all miss you, and will forever be missed.

Sad that the M.S.B didn't get the recognition they earned and deserved for their contribution to Rock & Roll..But locally in Cleveland and the surrounding areas they sold out shows on a regular basis but there are parts of this country that had never heard of them..Shocking to me that that was possible as hit after hit kept coming up on the charts..i did see where they were introduced once on American Band Stand by Dick Clark so thankfully they were recognized and introduced on national Television but even that exposure wasn't enough for them to be remembered nationally..MSB was my youth back then growing up through my teenage years..they deserved so much more than they received in my opinion..
@@milmil6594 well said my friend… I couldn’t agree more.. It’s actually been nice reading everyone’s memories on here, Showing that they were loved by so many.. Thanks for taking the time to share your memories.. :)
Great piece, but at the 14:49 mark, when you're talking about taping over the holes at the top of the cassette tape, that actually allows you to record over the tape - it doesn't prevent it. The holes allow the metal units in the cassette player to drop, prohibiting recording. Punching the tabs out of a cassette creates holes protecting the content.
I was thinking the same thing. Removing the tabs protects the tape from accidentally being taped over. I had to look it up to make sure I remembered it correctly.
