- In this video, I review the new Vallejo Game Color by painting a Warhammer test piece. In my experience, these paints are great because they have good coverage, are affordable, and a good selection of colors. The only thing I don't like about the range is the propensity for the paint to form bubbles if the paint is allowed to dry pooled up in recesses.

easily my fave paint line
Yes, there are many things to like about this line. With a nice choice of colors that correlate well to the classic Citadel line and an amazing dropper bottle all at an affordable price.
These have kinda become my main line of paints for painting dark ages figures and they work very well. Especially the triad sets they sell. They are a bit thinner than most paints but their color is vibrant and I don't mind doing multiple layering. For me this is easier to control.
I purchased just four bottles to test skin tones when they first released, because I love the new transparent bottles. But I too struggled constantly with the bubbles.
In my experience, the best way to work with it is not then to paint too much and try to make sure no paint pools in the recesses.
Bought a out 10 paints to start and all bubbled. Tried working slow with no change. The bubbles will not go away either and will ruin the layer. Couldn't get rid of them fast enough. Huge fail on Vallejo.
Usually if I don't thin them too much I don't get a lot of bubbles. But sometimes I do so I see your point.
A small amount of flow improver should/could decrease bubbles as it lowers the surface tension

how do they perform when it comes to glazing? how much water can u add until the paint breaks or do u need a medium like the new army painter line?
I think they perform about the same as most other paints. I have done a bit of glazing with them to make some nice blends and I just added water, it seemed to work fine for me. Although I don't have extensive experience with glazing with this line. A medium is usually recommended for extensive glazing, Vallejo even has their own glaze medium in a new bottle.
I have their hexed lichen and so far I havnt come across any issues with the paint? Love the colour as well, I wonder what’s going on to make the bubbles
Most times I don't either, maybe certain colors are more prone to it, I hear if you add flow improver it helps, but I have not tried it yet.
I bought a couple to try and the bubble issue is bad and dries with them not popping , i find it hapoems mist when i over mix them , however you need to mix them.well to get thw color consistant .......im not hapoy with the line at all and got rid of them within a couple weeks........thanks for the video
I see what you mean, I think they are really good otherwise
I like the ones i have but i cant put them on a wet pallete or use them for glazing.
If on thebwet pallete they separate real fast and dont like to go back together
And glazing they just dont like being thinned down that much
I could see that, I have done some glazing with them. I think they could work in some instances.

do you prefer these or the new armypainter warpaint fanatic?
I still need to try the fanatic. I guess a part of me is debating if I need to buy a big huge set or maybe I'll just wait for individuals or the starter set. I already have a lot of paint. Once I get some I will review.
@TooMiniModels I think you are wise to wait. Paying hundreds of dollars for paint you don't really need seems a bit much.
@@TooMiniModelsI bought the fanatic complete set. It's good paint but despite AP's marketing - it's still just acrylic paint. If you have a big collection you like using there's really no reason to buy the new AP stuff en masse.
Interesting paint line! Doesn’t honestly seem too bad! I think honestly what is a big thing is the price! How much are they per bottle?
I feel like it depends on where you buy them, but I've found stores online that sell them for about $2.50 per bottle to $3.50. and it comes with 18 mm of paint in a really nice dropper bottle. The express paints seem to be a bit more expensive.

Honestly, I bought a bunch of these and I ended up getting rid of them almost immediately. I struggled to thin the paint and avoid bubbles. The bubbles also dried with texture while every other paint brand I've had that issue with did not dry with any texture. Compared to Pro Acryl and Ak 3rd gen these aren't even worth considering. Even with Pro Acryl's annoying twist tops
I see what you mean. The bubbles are a doozy. I think they have a nice selection and really nice bottles, to bad about the bubbles...
@@TooMiniModels I liked the colors, but I just couldn’t get them to consistently apply smoothly without letting them stay too thick

@@GoufinAround_ I see what you mean. I know the original model color range was a classic, but we won't know what they are like until they are tested.

I think they are nice asides from the bubble thing. But other brands can have bubbles too. As of right now, my favorite paint is from Green Stuff World, believe it or not.

Yes, i noticed bubbles with the washes only if you let it pool in the recesses.
Worst paint I ever use so many bubbles, bought the whole set and sold it off and got the fanatic set so much happier now. Honestly, this new Vallejo game range needs to be pulled from the shelfs. It’s just so bad and ruined so many paint jobs and the xpress paint from Vallejo is just as bad. I don’t have all day to pop bubbles. It’s insane.

I can see your point with the bubbles. I feel like with careful application, they can generally be minimized and I think they have the best bottles (not caps) in the market for a good price. I wish someone would combine ak paint and bottle cap, with the new vallejo bottles, that would be a really nice paint! I still need to try the fanatic paint! Do you like them? Have they lived up to the hype?
Love the fanatic paint. Coverage is amazing and “no bubbles”. I like you amazes me how there are hardly any reviews on Vallejo. Stalhy himself came out with a video apologizing for the bubble issue. Love that guys videos too
I wonder where it comes from... Never had any bubbling issues with new Game Color or Model Color or Xpress paints, like, at all.
And since I am in Russia, I am wondering, maybe we've got a "newer" batch of paints delivered to our market? I specifically asked in our painting communities, literally nobody complained about bubbling. Weird.
I've had zero bumbling issues...
I bought 20 of these paints. Terrible they were. Never had any issues with bubble staying while drying with other paints. I was mortified when I came back to a model only to see tonnes of bubbles that hadn't popped while drying. Never used them again. Warpaints Fanatic range blow these outta the water. No issues whatsoever with them
