    For a little country, Iceland sure pack a big punch, very exciting events. I remember back when Eyjafjallajökull erupted, the sun had a halo rainbow around it here in the UK, apparently it was caused by ice crystals forming around ash particles, those same particles grounded most of Northern Europe’s flights for days.

      @johnzuijdveld9585 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@MyKharli There is still hope despite the sluggish right wing politicians and the fossil fuel industries that have them captive. Many other big companies including miners are now transitioning to renewables and low-no CO 2 emission futures, so it's not the end of the world but undoubtedly things will become much more difficult and dangerous, BUT! so long as we don't reach >4* or more by 2100 then we will have done enough to turn it around I think esp. as there will definitely be new and better tech long before that. In the meant time working outdoors will gradually move to night times as will other activities, underground accommodations will be favored and air-con will be needed for many, whereas in other places high ground and 'stilted houses' lifted well above ground will become common in other parts.
      But we are not done yet. 🤞🏻 2020-2050 is a critical time tho'. 🙏🏻 🙏🏻

    Our neighbouring village is to the west of a small wooded mountain. Under certain conditions, the moon rises behind the woods and shines through the trees at the tops. And more than one there was a fire alarm because it looked like the wood is on fire and the fire department went with all their equipment to the woods in the night. A fire in the woods also triggers the alarm to all the neighbouring fire departments. The neighbouring villages gave them the mock name "moon extinguishers". Things like that, honest errors, happen. It makes you look very foolish. We are all humans.

    It's usually easy enough to follow what you are saying but today's video it was quite difficult to impossible at times.
    If tourists want to risk their lives they should be allowed to get on with it but no rescue missions should be mounted.

    As for safety, I wouldn't go anywhere near that volcano without an infrared camera and a gas mask.
    On second thought, I probably wouldn't go anywhere near that volcano at all.
    No really you should get an infrared cam, the fire departments use it to spot invisible heat in the walls. It could save lives of volcano hunters.

    Thank You for the very interesting video, maps and commentary. Beautiful pictures, scenery and informed explanations, as always with a dash of humour. 911 must shake their heads at some of the 'emergency' calls that they receive. Erupting Moon and Polar Swan. The 2 Rescue Service Vehicles and Crew standing by while tourists walk on smoking hot lava is classic. It's as though the Crew have given up on stupid. Perhaps a tourist or two falling through the crust will serve as a warning to others, but I doubt it. I wonder if the 'geologist' who scaled the cone in Jun. '21 is the same Mr Terrific who was seen on the crater's rim this week? Both 'culprits' have no respect for the law, the volcano or their host country. Both lack intelligence, maturity and courage. Why run from an erupting volcano if you are brave enough to scale the cone? Thankfully, most people have more sense and respect for beautiful Iceland. 🇮🇸 Stay safe. 🙏🌋
    (p.s. 'Mr Terrific' was a TV series about a whimp who took a pill that gave him superhuman strength, intelligence and ability e.g. flight. Unfortunately, the pill's effectiveness had a time limit which invariably expired whenever he was mid flight.)

    Some Swiss technicians are working on a carbon capture factory in Iceland, in Hellisheidi, 30km east of Reykjavik. They are pumping CO2 with saltwater 800m deep into the earth and plan to store it there for the next 10.000 years. They are doing this in Iceland because the land has so much free space and 'free' renewable energy.
    But when I hear the stories about all these volcanos preparing to go off - I am wandering about the 10.000 years span. And pumping water into an volcano area sounds kind of a stupid idea for my non-engineer brain.
