Glad to see you take the time to paint some of the parts up. Everyone else seems too eager to be first getting theirs onto TH-cam. Not a criticism of anyone, I just prefer to see some painting done to bring out the detail Salvino's put into this kit. The more I see, the more I'm impressed. Can not way for mine to show up.

Great tutorial on the build. Great tips, which are very useful. I’m really glad you are doing some detail painting. Two other videos I’ve seen on this kit the kit was build with ZERO painting. To me building a model without painting is sac-religious. Email Jim and get another exhaust tip, I feel like he will gladly do that for you. Thanks for sharing.

My upper cage section was badly warped and needed a lot of work to get into place.
But you can paint the entire chassis as one part, just don’t glue the rear bulkhead to the bottom frame. Then you can clean it all up, paint and then do the interior.

I really like how Jim used the rub blocks on the bottom of the chassis as locating "pins" for the roll cage. Very smart thinking. The only bad thing I can see is the silver-molded piece that forms the lower roll cage has some pretty serious sink marks on the side of it. It won't really be visible once the body is on, but, I'd probably still fill them.

    • @TheLukaCeeChannel

That’s really cool…sure wish my Larson car would get here ….. I’ve just finished building the Gray Ghost 442 and while it looks great finished I’m surprised at how many little fit issues are present..kinda like the drive shaft.. I have a couple of the Petty kits and the Foyt car hopefully they will go together a little easier without as much “massaging “ . These kits are nice with great detail but they have a way to go to compare with Tamiya…

And yes the imsa kits was awsome im 30 I was young when they came put but that was my first time kit bashing my dad taught me how to do some simple kit bashing and more advance kit bashing using those kits cuse those frames and roll cages was nice and would fit alot of other ford muscle car bodies or use the front or rear clip and and make any body fot that chassis same with corvette they went together so well

I can’t get my engine to drop down into those slots. I’m afraid my back plate mounted just a bit too high and it’s bottoming out into the firewall. In trying to test fit the engine the right engine mount broke off, at least it broke clean I think I can glue it in place once I do get the engine coaxed in there. One thing I don’t like is how the oil pan and the back plate really didn’t have any indexing points to ensure proper alignment. I have to really push against the front engine plate to get it in there and I still haven’t even glued on the pulleys yet. But I’ve gone to too much work to make this engine look like a real FR9 to abandon it now. Ugh!
