Herman lost the Munsters Koach in a drag race. Grandpa builds his own racer, the Drag-u-la.
A family of friendly monsters having misadventures and never quite understanding why people react to them so strangely.

My dad worked for George Barris and helped make those cars. He helped build the Pink Panther car and a few others. I have pictures of some of them from along time ago. He was a painter and custom car builder and boat builder,my dad.

cool, this dragster was the coolest thing on tv in the 1960s. my brothers and i would run to the tv just by hearing the horsepower of that engine. my brothers have since passed on, but it bring back good memories of my family life.
Did George Barris build the 1960s batmobile?
Al Lewis and Fred Gwynn, one of the greatest duos...the idea of an ornery scheming vampire that smokes cigars is hilarious.

This is my favorite episode! I used to go to the drags a lot during the early 1960s. I miss those slingshots/rails. I remember building models of The Munster Koach and Drag-u-la (thank you AMT). THANKS for posting this!

Love this episode since I first saw as a kid. When Herman saves Grandpa's life in that fast motion way. I still crack up laughing. Great show The Musters were.

Looking down on my diecast collection of Barris hot rods, which includes the Munster Koach and Dragula, now I have this video of the drag race to win back the Koach! Must be one of the coolest drag races I had ever seen!

My Favorite episode of the entire series! I've loved the Munsters Koach & Dragula as a kid and have collected numerous different Johnny Lightning models of them over the last several years.
Thank goodness the app Peacock has all of the episodes of "The Munsters", cos whenever I see this I feel like I have to watch more.
I am more an Addams Family fan but this is one of my favorite episodes of the Munsters.

Mrs Addam was far better actress. Her eyes convey everything.
Carolyn Jones is partially responsible for the modern Sitcom. She married Aaron spelling when he was a nobody, but supported his work, I think even after their divorce. But beyond her, I didn't appreciate Addams family over the Munsters. But Addams seem to hold up better over time.

Wow I love this episode. Grandpa looked funny in the goggles! Marilyn and Lily are beautiful as always and Herman is a big goofy fun-loving guy, haha!!! Oh and I LOVE the drag racing and hopped up cars, ala '60's style gassers.

I was listening to the radio yesterday and they had a quiz and one of the questions were what is your favorite TV program and straight away I thought of the Musters.

I grew up watching this show on TV land with my parents. I don't even know if that channel is around anymore but I'm glad I was raised with this stuff, even though I wasn't from the same generation
I couldn’t even tell you what show on that channel was my favorite. There were so many great sitcoms back then; everything from The Munsters and I Love Lucy, to Sanford and Son and All in the Family.
I probably watched more TV Land than Nickelodeon as a kid.

I remember years ago a guy drove thru our local forest preserve in his rendition of Dragula. Not exactly the same but it was a 2-seater and he could shoot flames out the exhaust. Seriously the whole place lined up along the road as he drove through with a s--t eating grin on his face. Never saw it after that.
This was about as funny as when Jethro built a hotrod truck on the Beverley Hillbillies and granny got mad and wanted the old truck back, then raced Jethro with the old truck filled up with her moonshine.

Went to a classic car show tonight in Asbury Park NJ & this hotrod was there. Original & not a remake. Took many pictures. Amazing.

This was one of my favorite episodes along with Eddies go cart. Must have had quite a setup in that garage. Wonder where grandpa procured that 289 with dual four barrels.
I've been to Transylvania twice... everytime Grandpa mentions " The old country" it gives me a smile a mile wide
Almost every scene, that was grandpas stunt double sitting in the car, even as he pulls it out of the garage. After the bet, Herman walks away with the stunt double.
The Munsters was the best and really created laughs about all our typical human traits and just made it fun. There were a lot of lessons learned by many during the time show like this were on TV. It's not the same now.
One fateful day a young boy watched this episode and it changed his life, and by extension the lives of countless others to come.
That young man's name was Robert Zombie
Interesting. I didn't know that. But it doesn't surprise me.

I absolutely adore the munsters. These two vehicles are goth car icons. This show is a fundamental must for any goths journey. If you don't like the munsters, you probably aren't goth. Truly, I do look forward to watching this entire series again someday, hopefully I can enjoy cannabis during as well. I should have done that already.

One of my favorite lines is when Herman asked Grandpa "Your not going to try to talk me into shooting myself again?" When I was a kid this was one of my favorites and a true classic episode.

About a year ago my dad was working fire/security at a local event when wouldn’t you know it they had the Munsters car on display and Butch Patrick aka eddy Munster was there signing autographs. And go figure I had to work that day but dad knowing how much a fan I was got me a picture, an autograph, and a shirt with the cast on it. Needless to say it’s one of my most prized possessions.
