She's beautiful, genuine, humble, kind, so very intelligent... and she has such dedication & love for work... she gets tickled like a child on Christmas Morning talking about the stuff they used to mix to create paint lol She's just so endearing.... and she tells the tales with such wonder and respect. If you haven't seen the ones she does where they try to identify what killed the mummies, you should check them out.. or anything She's in lol !! It's all awesome!

    This is one that I can watch over and over, one I will even put in my "to go to sleep by" playlist. It's brilliantly done, and this woman shows how deeply she cares for history with every scene. Some could even bring a tear to the eye, as strongly as she shows her feelings for this place.
    Let me put it this way:
    If it isn't real passion for history that I'm seeing, she's the best actor I've seen in a very long time.

Why does she ignore the obvious megalithic sized blocks fitted without any mortar or cement and perfectly cut Granite? It wasn't stone age chisels of copper or bronze but #AncientLostTechnology that enabled such power & stunning archeology addressed by our wonderful #BrienFoerester. Perhaps professor will return to address these anomalies but seemingly, we get honest research without the conservative Archeologists blinded perceptions & refusal to examine these ancient ancient finds Brien exposes us too.

This was when exhibitions went all over the world so we, who couldn't get to Egypt, could gaze in wonder at that which is Egypt. I stood in front of the iconic golden mask of King Tutankhamun, no further away than one foot! I witnessed mummies. I was close enough to see their eyelashes and fingernails. I saw their jewelry, pottery, statues that were so highly polished that you could see your reflection as clearly as if it were glass. One of the most breathtaking things I saw were the hieroglyphics beautifully displayed for viewing. I could go on and on, but I want to get back to this video.

      If you actually did go to Egypt without a guide...and had an open mind...you would quickly discover that it is indeed true that the ancient Egyptians believed that they needed to preserve their body ...or use a Ka statue as a last resort if their mummy was destroyed.
      They didn't know about DNA...because that kind of detailed medical knowledge and/or technology didn't exist at the time.
      Again...IF you take the time to watch and listen to educated scholars....and then go to Egypt and travel independently, without a guide..... you will learn more and more.

    I fell in love with all things Ancient Egyptian when I was 9 and my school teacher introduced my class to the basics. Since then I’ve tried to read and watch everything I can find on the subject. Joann Fletcher has deepened my interest and understanding of Ancient Egypt. Thank you for making this marvelous video available.

The way that Professor Joann Fletcher gives life to the material. You can tell that Egyptology is REALLY her calling. Look at the PASSION of her delivery between 3:23:27 - 3:26:27 . Question tough: believing in the after life is one aspect but why did the egyptians believe they needed to preserve their body to achieve immortality?

    • @pdruiz2005
      @pdruiz2005 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was integral in ancient Egyptian beliefs that the body had to be preserved so it could cross over to the afterlife. So mummifying bodies was a ritual that could not be ignored--otherwise the soul of said body would not traverse and would then get stuck in a type of purgatory. People didn't want that, so they mummified.
