As with all vehicles, the recirculating button is for when the AC is on, it stays on when the AC is on and when you turn the AC off it goes off with in a few minutes.
The principle is correct. However, that function doesn’t apply to all vehicles! If I turn the recirculating system on in my 2017 Honda Accord it will remain on regardless of the AC’s status!
I’ve always been under the impression these cabin air filters are just another way to scam your money. Shops ask for nearly $50 to replace thar Chinese-made, 10-cent item. What good does it do if you roll down your windows, remove your top, or remove your doors? I have the original filter in my FJ Cruiser and it has 266,000 miles. I just take it out, bang it a few times, then reinstall it. Even that much effort is a waste. I never plan on letting them take advantage of me on my new Bronco either.
I agree that the cheap stock filter is not worth what they cost. The only reason I installed the IAG is for winter time to block fumes from getting in the cab. In cold weather the Bronco HVAC anyways defaults to fresh air. Recirculating only stays on a few minutes at a time. So far it actually works as advertised. I still get fumes in winter but the charcoal captures some.
