  • Toledo, Ohio mayor Addison Thacher was an expert diver who used his wealth from an construction company specializing in marine projects to open and run food banks, soup kitchens and generally provide for his citizens in need during the 1930s depression years. His charities always featured potatoes and his supporters congratulated him on his election in 1931 by donating truck loads of potatoes to his food warehouse. This show includes many other features of this remarkable leader who has been mostly forgotten but will always have a place in The Potato Museum's Hall of Heroes.
